She heard the old lady's voice "You low-life bastard. You be happy we about to sell you; now you eating like gallons."
This was a few days before the auction when the girls were fed and treated nicely so they could look a bit presentable.
Tears filled Sophia's eyes as the old woman's words cut deep.
"Why should I be happy that you are selling me off? Why can't you just let me go?" Sophia retorted, her voice filled with emotions.
The old lady chuckled, her voice laced with mockery before landing a very painful slap on Sophia's cheek. Sophia stumbled back and nearly fell.
"You brat... You the only one who still talk about freedom. Don't you understand? No freedom for you." The old lady spat, her words venomous.
Sophia sobbed as she held her right cheek. "Treat her... don't want face swollen from slap." The old lady ordered and walked away.
