Killing me will solve nothing. Billions will rise to take my place, and you cannot face them all.
-Ryan Bellows, moments before his execution, July 31st, 2213 CE
MAD HOLSTERED HER pistol as Rich wailed. Lisha lay dead on the floor of the control room, her fingers only centimeters from her brother's. Rich rushed to her side, hesitating to touch her even in death. For a moment, all Teth could do was stare in complete shock. He'd considered chasing after Peter and his accomplice but hesitated at letting Eve slip from his arms. While Lisha and her father fought, Mad's face hardened. She waited for a perfect opportunity, and before Teth could protest, she shot Lisha three times.
"Why?" he asked. Mad turned, her battered face calm as ever.
"Lisha became a threat to the mission." She strode further into the control room. Carefully lifting Eve off the ground, Teth followed.
