Chapter Four

Adonis' Pov

Once I woke up I went to my bathroom to take a shower. When I emerged from the bathroom after my shower I went to my closet and put on a change of clothes. I continued to my office to work on some paperwork and try to figure out the rogue issue. For the past month or so there has been an abnormal increase in rogue attacks and sightings.

There's been a few cases where rogues have killed one or more of my pack members, I can't just let that go my pack members are family to me just as James is. Sitting at my desk I opened my computer to immediately see a message from the werewolf king. It's not unusual for the royal family to contact new alphas when they're adjusting to the alpha life but it's been two years since I became alpha why would they contact me now?

When I read the message I was in shock I haven't heard the king had a daughter until now. The e-mail stated that the werewolf king's daughter ran away almost 20 years ago, her remains were found in the woods about 7 years ago. According to the rogue community, the lost princess was the rogue king's mate and she ran away after finding out she was pregnant with their daughter. Now the rogue king and the werewolf king are racing to try and find her before the other one. If I calculate it correctly their daughter would be about 17 almost 18 by now.

Her mother's body was found and tiny footsteps were found going in the opposite direction eventually the footprints faded but everyone hopes she got away safely. Assuming or considering she's alive I felt sympathy for her, she lived her whole life as a rogue not ever given the chance to be in a pack. She was used to the rogue life never being taught the pack life.

I prayed if she was alive that neither the rogue king nor werewolf king found her, neither of them have the reputation of being kind or showing sympathy. Even thinking if this girl was alive how fragile and broken she'd be, I mean obviously, she wasn't far away when her mother got murdered.

Closing the e-mail and trying to focus on my rogue issue at hand I quickly pulled out a map and started marking red x's on the borders the rogues have slipped thru, making a mental note to increase security in these areas. As I was finishing up with the x's I got a sharp throbbing pain in the back of my head as if somebody was trying to break into my mind. The pain was so bad I didn't notice my warriors trying to mindlink me about a rogue on the Eastern border, and quickly mind linked the delta to take care of the issue.

James was off on business. Although he just turned 18 he's been doing his beta duties since the day I took over, although I didn't allow him to start traveling till he was 17 and he still had to take 4 of our best warriors with him. I don't know what I would do if I lost James, he was the only person I've ever shown weakness to. The only reason I know what love feels like. If something were to happen to him I don't think I would be able to bear or make it through that pain.

After mind liking my delta to take care of the situation I tried to ignore the throbbing pain in my head. Once my delta arrived he claimed the rogue didn't seem harmful in any way, she looked like she had been surviving and living day by day. She asked for them to hear her out and understand she was trying to survive. Telling my warrior to restrain her in whatever way he deemed necessary and telling him I would seek her true intentions later, I turned back to the map I marked the spot where the current rogue had been spotted and a few other places.

Proceeding to roll the map up and place it in my drawer, managing to ignore the pain long enough to finish what I was doing. I grimaced when I wasn't as focused or distracted noticing the pain had increased. Soon the pain was indescribable I clutched my head as I layed my upper body on my desk. I couldn't get the pain to stop so eventually I stopped fighting and just layed there. Sometime later darkness started to take over and I gave in. "Hello Adonis, I've been waiting to meet you for quite some time now" I heard inside my head as darkness took over.
