Chapter 17– The seer's son

Bloyd's POV

Chapter Soundtrack: Bad Girls by M.I.A

"Bloyd, the acher. Trained by Wallace Graham. Daughter of a Nectar pack peasant. The only survivor of the Red Moon infant massacre."

My blood instantly ran cold and my heart stopped beating at that moment. The world seemed to halt as did my heart beat.

"I know your secret."

As a trained assassin, my instincts kicked in and the only thing I could think of was killing the owner of this voice in an instant. Ending him and watching him die with my secrets. I turned around on my feet and swiftly dashed for the corner where the voice came from. My hand was fast as lightning and I aimed for the exact position where the gut of a person is. As calculated, my hand caught him by the throat and my fingers pinched mercilessly into his throat.

Bull's eye. I've got you, motherfucker.

I felt the person's breath tense and he breathed shakily into my hand. I grabbed his neck tightly and flung him into the washroom, quickly shutting the door behind us. With the shadow of the person finally in the light, I pupils dilated a little in shock to see that the owner of the voice was no other person than the Alpha's beta. Sterling.

"Now, that is one hell of a super wolf speed."

He coughed and felt for his neck where my fingers had dug into and drew blood. When he tried to get on his feet again, I quickly pulled out a sharp dagger from underneath the slit of my dress. His eyes widened in shock at the dagger in my hand.

"Please, put that down."

"And why should I?" I slowly advanced closer to him while he dragged himself back, farther away from me. He had a hand raised in front of him as a lame protection. "You know my secret. You should be dead. You saw the birthmark on my body, didn't you?"

He gulped visibly, beads of sweats now adorning over his head. He looked afraid of me as though he was face to face with a legendary devil. Of course, he should be afraid. I wasn't just anyone. I was the one destined to end the almighty Tariums reign.

"If you kill me, you are going to regret it, Bloyd. You have to drop that dagger and listen to me."

I scoffed at his words, thirsty to drive my dagger into his heart and throw his body out of the window fast, before anyone would notice.

"Why am I going to regret killing you? Nowhere was it mentioned in the prophecy that the destined one would be empathetic. Was there?"

"No, it wasn't. Because I was there when my father told the prophecy to Alpha Hok Tarium."

I paused on my feet and took a moment to process what he had just said. His father was the one who told the prophecy to Alpha Hok? If that was so, then his father was…

"The seer. My father was the seer who was executed by the Alpha for telling the truth and revealing the prophecy to the people."

Now, I was completely taken by his words and I lowered the dagger. A puzzled expression crossed my face.

"If truly you were the son of the seer who was unjustifiably killed by the then Alpha, why are you then, the beta of the same family who killed your father?"

"Because, like you, Bloyd, I came back to take my revenge." He slowly got on his feet. The signs of my fingers on his neck were very much visible. If he felt any pain from it, he did not show it.

"Like you, I returned to the same castle of damnation to ruin the people who took away the most important thing from my life."

I stood still and watched him speak, completely shocked by the sudden twist. Sterling was the seer's son and had worked his way into the castle to get closer to the Tariums and take his revenge? If that was so, then we had a lot in common.

"Before my father was executed, he made me promise him something." Sterling took a few steps closer to me and stopped at a safe distance. "That I would protect and assist the chosen one when she returns. I have kept an eye and my ears on the ground for you ever since."

"When I finally discovered the moon crescent birthmark on your body, I dressed you up myself to keep it a secret from everyone else. If I didn't, you wouldn't be alive by now, Bloyd. I helped you stay alive to carry out the prophecy just like I had promised my father."

I could not believe my ears. Sterling hid the secret of my birthmark to protect me from tje Tariums. And like me, he had returned to take his revenge. What more did I not know about him?
