Dirge POV
Ilbryen was literally not who he appeared to be–in so many ways. Kyon and Patch had been somewhat cryptic because they were still figuring out the truth. But the evidence sounded like it would, indeed, satisfy Graydon Chalice.
“By the time you arrive, we’ll have all our ducks in a row,” Kyon promised.
“And the Dark Goddess will be sorry she messed with Thessi,” Patch added.
Dirge was so proud of his brothers and shared the news of his bonding.
Kyon had a grumble in his voice. “You couldn’t wait until this business is finished to bond?”
Dirge lightened the mood. “Don’t tell me Patch suckered you into another bet! What’d you lose this time?”
“A week of babysitting while they attend some music festival in Lugdunum,” Kyon grumbled. “And Azandra says I’m responsible for my debts–the children are running her ragged.”
Dirge grinned. “I’ll happily help babysit since we bonded out of urgency.”
