Dirge POV
He would love Thessi to his dying day for sticking up for Cyran after such an obvious snub that would make even Cyran’s shifter critics explode and his former bitter enemy Dane want to yank Lord Glynthyra’s ears. That wasn’t even counting what Naomi, Jiro, and Garnet would do to him. But Thessi , Goddess love her, had just put the spotlight on herself for reasons other than standing up to bullying.
“She’s a very talented mimic,” Dirge said on the spot. “In fact, she regularly performs in a shifter theater company. You should hear her as an orc. You’d swear you were in Nauru. And she does a pitch-perfect human impression.”
“Right,” Thessi said in a passable human accent. “And I’ve got to rush. I’m late!”
“For rehearsal,” Dirge added. “Excuse us! The star needs to concentrate.”
Yanking her hand, he pulled her into the square and straight for Cresta house, with the pups howling and giggling, thinking this was all great good fun.
