The Aeternus Universe

The year of humanity is 2415, and DDVR and VRMMORPG's are commonplace now. It's extremely hard for a new game to come out and be successful. The greats of these genres have ruled for a few centuries now. A new game is releasing soon, and it has promise to be one of those. The Aeternus Universe. A Virtual Reality game has what you would expect from a game in this genre. However, some things make it special. One of those being the exploration and adventure through galaxies and The Aeternus Universe. Other games in this genre take it to fantasy and medieval times. This is set in a universe where there are super advanced technologies, spaceships, and Mecha suits—lost Alien tech ready to be found and claimed. Some of these all come together. The story starts 2 days before the release of the game, and with our protagonist—a 20-year-old male by the name of Scott Autumn. He is one of the few jumping from the current major game to this one. Seeing its potential for greatness and chance to be one of the biggest games on the market.

Heading to Newton-2

{The story on P-a-t-r-e-o-n is at 140+ chapters.}

Who knows how much time we have left before he actually tries this crazy shit. "He said something to me... That I should stop chasing him..." We both look at each other, knowing what that means. Ziller Maxx is extremely close.

He wouldn't have contacted Durado if he wasn't confident he could pull this off before Durado could find him. "We need to move. Now." I nod in agreement with Durado, and we exit the workshop and out of the store. The railway system is about a 15-minute walk from here. It's five if we run. So we both decide that running is the best course for us at this point. We have no idea how close Ziller is.

We run hard, and I stay right on Durado's tail. He and I are the only ones on all of Empyrian that knows what's about to happen. So haste is of utmost importance. We make it to the railway, and we make it just in time before the train to Newton-2 leaves.

We hop on, and I catch my breath. Durado isn't even winded. I sit down on one of the seats, and I lean back. The train launches forward at great speed. We are breaking the sound barrier. "We should be in Newton-2 in 15 minutes. Hopefully, that's enough time." I announce the time we have to reach Newton-2.

Durado pulls out a cigar and sits next to me. He lights it up and takes a few puffs. "How did you know that Ziller would be in Newton-2? I understand the mining system he's in, but there are more than 15 spread across Empyrian." I guess Durado didn't see it in the information he gave me.

Newton-2's mine is special. It's the deepest drilled and active mine on Empyrian. The odds of the Quantum split working to devastating effects are higher the closer you are to the core. The natural spin from the core creates a magnetic field.

When then Quantum fluctuations from the high number of malfunctioning hyperdrives connect with the magnetic field, it'll spread tear apart the core and magnetic field. After that, the Quantum spilt will happen to great effect due to the failure of the magnetic field.

The whole planet will be destroyed in many different ways. Ziller is going to be off-world when he tries this. So by the time we get there, he'll either be gone or in the process of leaving. Hopefully, we'll have a chance to kill him and stop the makeshift Quantum bomb.

Durado is still waiting for an explanation. I got lost in my thoughts behind the science and math, couldn't help myself. My mind loves that stuff now. "It's the deepest mine on Empyrian. The deeper the mine, the great the effects it'll have on the core and magnetic field." Durado looks at me with a mixed expression.

Both confused and impressed. "I'm not going to explain the science behind it, but you can trust me. He'll likely be making his way off-world. We might now even get a chance to kill him." Durado is disappointed at those words. Not at me, of course.

Durado has been chasing Ziller all over Empyrian and is probably itching to get his hands on him or kill him. I do have an idea, but it's a little crazy. "If you want Ziller so bad, we can split up. He'll be going to a private landing platform near the mine. Since there isn't a spaceport in Newton-2 he'll have a private spot to land.

Once we reach the mine, you head for the landing pad to see if he's left yet. I'll make my way into the mines and find the site. I'll disable it, and hopefully, you'll get Ziller." It's the best plan that we have with only two people.

If Ziller's ship is there and hasn't left yet, he should destroy its engines. That way Ziller is stranded on Empyrian. "If his ship is there before he is, destroy it. He'll be stranded on Empyrian. If he escapes the mines and sees his ship already destroyed, he'll be shit out of luck for a while.

It'll buy us more time while he tries to find another ship. That way we can find him. Who knows, maybe he'll even run into you on the way to the possible destroyed ship." The odds of that happening are around 19%, not the best odds, but good enough to raise once in the mines if he hasn't left yet.
