“Um, yeah.” Todd nodded.
“You do know none of those things will do much good,” Heidi continued.
“There are other types of beings, and bullets and blades are incredibly effective against them. They’re also a good distraction,” Todd said, meeting her amused gaze with a no-nonsense one of his own. He didn’t appreciate that she seemed to have a knack for making him feel like a wet-behind-the-ears rookie on his first hunt. “I’ll go in the front,” Heidi said.
“The pastor isn’t exactly the friendliest guy,” Todd told her. Nick snickered. “He spotted that I was a gambler, or appeared to be one, almost immediately, and was pretty hostile to Nick as well, even though Nick didn’t give him a reason to be.”
“I’ll probably be less of a threat to him, so he won’t be as reactive to me. And if we’re lucky, he’ll let his guard down at least a little,” Heidi said.
