Best Friend

I turned around and looked at the owner of the voice and a warm smile spread across my face "Erin!"

He smiled and came forward to hug me tightly "I missed you so much."

I pulled back a little and with a smile said "Me too but what do you mean by I am finally here, initially I never planned on returning."

He tapped my forehead and said "I know but I also knew that one day you will realize that you need to return, you have always been a rational person and I knew after you have thought things though you will return but it took you way too long."

I smiled "Don't you trust me way too much."

He laughed and teased me "No, it's just that I know you for that well after all we are childhood sweethearts but it's a pity that you loved someone else."

I laughed and before I could say anything else, I saw James come and stand next to me, his expression as dark as an evil spirit and soon a realization hit me so I turned to him "How long have you been here?"

He kept staring at Erin as if he was going to skin him alive but he still answered me without averting his gaze "I followed you to make sure you don't get into any danger."

I now knew that his reaction was because he had heard our conversation and because I wanted him to stay away from me, I came up with an idea and hooked my arm with Erin's arm. We were best friends since young, we basically grew up together and we were just like siblings. We never had feelings for each other but we understood each other very well. Even though it had been a long time we had met, I knew he would understand what I was doing and go along with me.

I looked at him and he gave me a slight nod so I continued as I looked at James "Let me introduce you to him, he his my best friend or you can say childhood sweetheart Erin."

I turned my head to Erin and said with a little intimate tone "This is James, he saved me from Cameron"

Erin smiled at James and said "Thank you for saving my sweetheart, I will pay you back for that for sure."

I could see the expression on James's face getting darker but contrary to my expectation he didn't run away from there instead he grabbed my wrist tightly and pulled me towards him. Without another word he wrapped his other hand around my waist and leapt into the air then ran towards the castle. It was all of a sudden that I lost my sense of gravity and my heart skipped a beat, I wrapped my arms around his neck and closed my eyes at the sense of danger.

After a while I finally came to my senses but until then we were already in my room, he closed the door behind us as we entered the room and pinned me to the door. His eyes pierced dangerously into mine and he said in a threatening tone "You better not test my patience, it is all because of you that I am holding it together, if you keep doing this I can't promise that I will not do something beyond your expectations."

His tone was so threatening that I was literally scared at first but then I made up my mind to stand my ground and with whatever that was left of my confidence, I looked straight into his eyes and said firmly "You can't force someone to love you."

He did not respond to what I said for a while but then he moved dangerously close to me as if he was trying to look through me. Although my heart rate increased, I didn't let him suspect anything but he still began to laugh loudly as if I had said a hilarious joke. After the laughter died down, he finally spoke "You want me to buy your story of childhood sweethearts but did you even see the biggest flaw in it."

I looked at him wanting for his answer and also I didn't want to give myself away by telling him that I was just pretending. He looked at my face and a smirk appeared on it, he moved his head closer to my ear as if he was about to tell a secret "You see, if he was your childhood sweetheart then you would not fall I love with another man."

Danm he was right, I didn't think it through but it was not that I could give up on this now so I stared at him and said "Anyways my past has nothing to do with you and all the matters concerning me have nothing to do with you either."

This man was too clingy, no matter what I said he was not ready to listen, I felt like he could see through my act and his eyes could see my heart directly. He didn't move even though I said those words and stood there just looking at me intensely for a while and then a smile appeared on his face. He finally moved away and said "I will stay away from you but if you dare get close to any other man, I am not sure, I will be able to keep that person alive."

I thought I heard wrong so I asked "You will stay away from me?"
