Power huh, what sort of power would allow me to stand out in a crazy world?
Should I get Aomine's formless basketball style? Nah that style is pretty flashy but there are quite a few limits to his range. That's why Aomine rarely shot threes in the anime. He was a beast in the paint and mid-range but he would never be the most efficient scorer.
Should I get Midorima's shooting? Its nice and all but it looks so stiff. Even in the anime he rarely dribbled and just shot the ball. After a while it became too predictable and it was extremely easy for Kagami to block the shot. He literally allowed Kagami to block him during the game in order to tire him out. If only his shooting form was a bit more flexible, he could have shot off the dribble and won the game!
Murasakibara's size is pretty good. But all his size allows me to do is play like Wilt Chamberlain. I'll just be banging down low and dominating in the paint. Not really ideal for me as someone who likes to play with skill. His size will never allow me to eurostep players or drive through narrow lanes. Also I'm pretty sure most people will be intimated by that size, how will I get a girlfriend. I know basketball is my number 1 priority as the moment but it could change in the future. Just saying.
Akashi and his emperor eye? Its good, but in the movie, last game, it showed that there were people with similar powers to him and that guy wasn't even in the NBA. I'm pretty sure NBA players in that universe are going to be way better than the NBA players from my previous life. So I think that's a pass, I don't want to get countered eventually. Akashi's is probably also the type of player who will only take open shots and never a contested one. That is a horrible type of mindset and will never allow me to play well against better good competition.
Kagami's jump is a definite no for me. Athleticism is great but he definitely wasn't using it to his fullest potential in the anime. Everybody knows that a 50 inch vertical can be stopped by a 7 foot tall giant. This was common in the 90's basketball where a big men would put an athletic guard back on the ground whenever they tried to drive to the basket. It was to teach a powerful lesson, that no matter how high you can jump, you ain't big enough.
I guess that just leaves Kise. His power is the most advantageous out of everybody's. He could copy anybody on the court and make their moves his. But with that type of style he would never become better than his opponents and he gets exhausted pretty easily. And I'm sure when he reaches the NBA there would be players he won't be able to copy. There was a period of time in the anime where he could't copy the generation of miracles. I'm sure in that universe there are players far better than the generation of miracles that he would never be able to copy.
Wait a minute, he did say I could get what ever power I wanted. That means i could come up with my own power. Let's see, what power could potentially be greater than those powers. Oh, I remember all those webnovels I've been reading. Every overpowered mc had a system. A system would allow me to continuously improve with someone guiding me along the way. Its like having a personal coach with you 24/7. If I started training basketball at a young age, I'm pretty sure I'll be better than the generation of miracles by the time I reach high school.
"Hmmm. What an interesting choice. If only everybody could be as interesting as you. Seems like you have decided on a basketball system. Alright, I wish you all the best in your new world and I will be watching you very closely."
Wait! Don't go yet, could you do one last thing for me. Please blur the memories of my friends and family from my past life. I think it is time for me to move on and I don't want to have to compare my new parents with my old ones. I think simply knowing I had good parents in my past life is enough and I am extremely grateful for everything they have done for me.
"Wow. I changed my opinion of you, you are VERY interesting. Sure, your request is not breaking or changing any rules, it's a small thing to fix. Now this is really goodbye, I'll see you next time."
With that he disappeared and I felt nothingness once again.
