CHAPTER 29: THE DANGER OF VENOM

"I thought we were helping each other"- claims Wally to Bane.

"It could have been like that but now I feel explosive, in the first place I wanted only to recover my compound, but after seeing what the new compound did with that simple man, now I want to recover the doctor to develop a new component, in the first place that boy who seems to be the son of superman is the most dangerous of you if I eliminate you all here now I will not have more inconveniences in the future"- says Bane.

"You wish, we'll finish you off," says Wally.

"I'm not moving from you, speed boy, I wanted to wait for you to eliminate my enemy but you failed, although that doesn't bother me now, if you had done it the league would have come and saved the doctor, for now, I'll just take care of you and I'll take the doctor, so the league will have a reason to come... the reason to recover your corpses"- warns bane.

Shit, we just need him to let his guard down for a moment, that way he'll give Wally time to run and take control of the bombs.

Megan unhesitatingly levitates one of the cut logs that were piled up.

"I'll watch your back," Megan says.

Bane quickly turns to dodge the log but before he can react Wally runs at him and takes control of the explosives from him, disarming him in the process.

I take advantage and throw myself at him and although Bane tries to hit me I manage to dodge him in such a way that his fist hits the ground directly, at which point I take the opportunity to jump and try to hit him in the face, although he manages to grab my leg and slam me into the ground.

"... Death, Will never stop... and if it chooses to take the form of small children... so be it" - he says a moment before throwing me against the ground and hitting me repeatedly- ' but if it can survive the darkness of the peña dura'- ends bane.

Megan is still weak and after lifting that log, Megan falls back to the ground Kaldur is charging with Superboy, and Megan protecting me from more soldiers coming to attack, Wally on the other hand manages to hit him a blow away from me, which gives me a chance to get up.

Even though I'm beaten and bleeding a part of me is euphoric.

"That the best you got? I thought you were more, Than just big muscles hahaha, I thought you knew how to fight"- I say to Bane as I wipe the blood that falls from my lip.

 

"You are too cocky, child your father must be ashamed of you"- says Bane to me.

Bane gives in to my provocation and runs towards me, I manage to fall to the ground on my back and with my legs, I manage to throw him backward, where Wally hits him with a flying kick.

I manage to get to my feet quickly, I take advantage of his staggering, and without giving him a break I jump on him, and with my two legs I provide a direct blow to his stomach.

Wally and I have him cornered but we can't waste any more time here, we need someone to go ahead and get the doctor.

"That is your mistake bane, You think you understand Batman, You think you have some kind of secret insight into him, but you don't, That is why you always lose to him but today you lose for the last time."

I manage to join Wally for a moment and quickly explain to him what he has to do while I take care of distracting Bane.

"So this is what you were looking for from the beginning bane, your compound, now what next go to Gotham to create disasters?"

I shout at Bane to shove him and bring him into the forest, trying to get him away from the other guys.

"Are you hiding, attacking me from the shadows? Just like your boss, you're a stupid kid, you came here without information just to perform a rescue, you and Batman are supposed to be like detectives. Kobra came to my land with an opportunity. As you know, the effects of venom are temporary, but on this island it is eternal. Or so we thought, Kobra believes that you could have the key so you would only have to use one dose of venom."- explains Bane.

Dangerous shit, if venom was used without the flaw of relying on it it would be a complete killer in any city in the world.

"We agreed to help them in exchange for resources and the new venom. The kidnapping of the doctor was simple, but all that woman created was a form of venom that gave you strength, but also animal rage, just as you saw in that man whose heart your friend ripped out"- continues explaining Bane while I hide in the top of the trees.

"...Once dosed you completely lose control, it's not the type of venom I'm looking for, so I rebelled against them and tried to take as much of the venom supplied by us to the research, and so the Kobra's turned against us, took their research and continued experimenting on their own." - Bane finishes explaining.

That explains why I was here in the beginning and they were being attacked, so the ones who are running this whole experiment are Kobra... Batman had another reason to send us here.

I leave my cape among the branches and use it as a decoy for Bane to attack and as I had planned he falls into the trap allowing me to get out and give him a kick in the knee that makes him lose his balance and fall to the ground with no chance to escape.

"Go ahead, I'm not afraid to die, boy, my story was always going to end this way, ever since I was born my whole life has been written for me"- says Bane.

"What you say makes no sense bane, you better than anyone knows that we don't do things this way, we are not like you."

"Are you sure we are not the same? We are monsters beyond our control.

You will be the king of nothing forever." I say to Bane as I turn my back."

Although I thought Bane was done trying anything else he took advantage of my distraction and injected a mini syringe into my leg, a syringe with Venom compound.

My body starts to go numb and my muscles burn, I feel like my muscles are going to explode as they start to grow at a rapid rate, and I feel intense pain.

"Damn, shit we need help," says Kaldur.

Right now I can't move due to the exponential growth of my muscles, plus I feel like my emotions are changing too, damn Bane... no, this is not entirely his fault either, I failed as a leader, I failed as a disciple, I failed as a friend and as a son, shit... if I had done my job right everything would have been different... superboy wouldn't have asked for control... Megan wouldn't be so weak... and me... if only I hadn't let my guard down...

"Batman to Robin, reinforcements are coming, hold on a little longer, don't be consumed by the compound."

"Batman? Quickly... I don't know how much I can take."

I barely manage to hear Batman's jet pass over us... and a dark silhouette descending on me.

Batman is already here, but what could he do with this?

"You can handle this, you are stronger than this, we will find the cure, try to control yourself"- Batman says to me.

"Can you do what it takes to control your son? Now this is your punishment, Batman, hahaha"- says Bane as he watches everything that is happening.

" Aqualad quick grab Miss Martina and Robin, take them to the ship, I'll come after you with Superboy... and kid Flash?"-Batman asks.

" he is making the last effort to get the doctor back... now we need her more than ever, she must know what is the best way to create a cure an Antivenom"- says Kaldur.

"Well, that's already taken care of, though," says Batman.

What do you mean, that's already taken care of, did more League members come?

"Robin, look at me, it's okay, Robin. Coming down from the poison is hard. I've been there," Batman speaks to me.

"I'm a monster, my whole body hurts"- I can't move I'm still prostrate on the floor.

"You've never been a monster. I'm sorry you feel that way, but we'll work this out," Batman says.

"I'm here, I'm always here, but..."- Batman stops talking because some Kobra soldiers arrive on the scene.

And a few seconds later an explosion is heard from one of the rooms of the building on the mountain.

This helps Batman to take advantage and finish with all the soldiers quickly, although he also receives help from a shooter, the green arrow also comes, batman, manages to hold the other guards, and he ties them with ropes, kaldur manages to escape before the soldiers arrived, so they must already be in the ship secured.

I look in the direction of the place where the explosion happened, and I can only see the doctor looking at the emptiness, shit, is it that she wants to end her life... No, Wally won't be long in coming to help her... or so I thought... But behind her, a cable specialty that connects with the other point of the mountain shoots out...

Speedy appears behind her grabs her and moments later slides down the rope... It's Speedy? What's he doing here, well if he's Green Arrow he must have convinced him to come.

"So we won?" I ask Batman with the last of my strength before fainting...

 Batman just looks at me and nods his head, well if I think about it... explaining all this is going to be complicated to Kaldur since he is the leader of the mission... one less problem for me.
