Jason logged in and woke up to see a random stranger in his face trying to get him out buy roughly shaking him. He was red haired and had an intense look in his eye. He looked preety short and had some childish characteristics on his face, when Jason had finally gotten out of the bed the stranger introduced himself.
"I'm Lyle your trainer for the next few days, weeks I don't know, but even though I'm younger then you, I AM stronger than you, so you WILL listen to me okay?"
Saying that Lyle flexed his arms a bit and put on an intimidating face. Jason who had no idea what was going on accepted and followed Lyle outside. Lyle gave Jason a rundown of the basics
"Okay, the rose knights are famous for training each and every knight to pass their limits starting from day one. You probably have experienced that the day before."
Jason walked past an entire crowd of trainees collapsed on the ground while an officer was yelling at them to continue running in place. Lyle passed by them without batting an eye like it was a daily occurrence.
"Each and every day we are required to experience our limit in something, whether it be in our strength, agility, wisdom, stamina and intelligence. We have designated places for each one. Usually, you would be able to choose which training segment you want, but as your personal trainer."
Lyle stopped in the gym that Jason had collapsed in and pointed to it.
Lyle finished "your strength and stamina are lacking"
Lyle grabbed a training sword from the rack sitting on his left and threw another one toward Jason. They walked to a little empty space used for sparring and faced off. Lyle remembered something and quickly yelled at Jason
"hey since we are already here, I'll teach you the rose knight swordsmanship. Watch carefully."
And saying that Lyle leaped toward Jason brandishing his sword. Jason didn't even have time to dodge or roll or even use any of his skills. Lyle thrust his sword straight into Jason's abdomen, and Jason flew, landing on the ground a few meters away, his butt skipped on the ground a few times. Until he lay spread out on the floor, now with a bleeding butt and a crushed abdomen. Jason got up only to be pummeled again by Lyle's thrust in the chest.
"Okay new plan" Jason thought to himself, he got up again to be met with a thrust on his backside. Jason let himself get flown around but he focused on landing his feet on the ground. The moment his feet touched the ground he activated dodge and the thrust that was originally going to hit his upper torso instead hit his shoulder. though it still hurt it was an improvement in Jason's book.
Seizing the chance Jason used precise strike aiming for Lyle's wrist in hopes that his sword would drop, Jason watched Lyle's eyes followed his arm in almost slow-motion and how Lyle simply rotated his wrist to barely avoid the strike. He didn't have time to admire the skill and got struck again in the chest this time the impact knocked him out and all he could see was black.
[+1 stamina]
[+1 strength]
When Jason woke up he saw Lyle standing in front of him polishing his sword. He noticed Jason was awake and motioned for him the come to him. Jason barely got up and weakly walked to Lyle's position. There Lyle started his lecture.
"Okay first of all you felt the swordsmanship right?"
Jason recalled the time before he blacked out, "yes definitely"
Lyle nodded
"good, it's up to yourself to find the essence of the swordsmanship as the rose knight swordsmanship is different for everyone"
Lyle looked at Jason to see how he was faring and saw a person diligently learning and memorizing everything. For the first time, a person was actually focusing on his abilities and learning from them and not pushing him down with how he looked or acted.
[+1 point Lyle (delight)]
Jason didn't even notice the notification he was busy trying to remember the swordsmanship and what its essence was. From what he remembered Lyle thrusted the entire time and then always attacked the moment he got up, also when he counter-attacked he could see his eyes trace his arm in slow-motion. And the way that he dodged the attack by twisting his wrist a bit made Jason see a bit into Lyle's skills, cold sweat went down his back as he thought
'shoot he went really easy on me didn't he'
[you have understood a bit about the rose knight swordsmanship 1/10]
Jason pumped his fist internally
'niceeeeee I don't know what I understood, but hey, I'll take it'
Jason got up, energized and faced Lyle, Lyle impressed by how quickly Jason had got up, lead him to the agility course. The agility course was far away and they had to trek through a few large plains to get to it. While Jason was walking with Lyle he asked him a question that had been on his mind since the beginning.
"Hey Lyle, why is it that a fellow trainee is teaching me and not a regular instructor?"
Lyle replied as if he was expecting the question
"were short on staff, but I can assure you your training will be the same, if not better, then when the instructors were here."
Lyle gave off an aura that seemed like he didn't want to talk about that subject so the two plowed on without saying a word.
Soon they came to a large forest where the trees stood taller than 5 stories tall, Jason suddenly saw the ground and the entire place turn darker. As if something was covering them from the sky. He quickly looked up to see that the sun's light was nowhere to be seen and what had replaced it was small crystals embedded on the side of the path they were treading on. As the large canopy of leaves had made the surrounding forest dark
Eventually, Lyle lead Jason to a ladder that was hidden behind a large tree's branches and told Jason to climb up first. Jason was expecting another dark tunnel or something that needed night vision, but instead, he was greeted by the bright and warm sun. And a large wooden platform with lots of people on it.
He looked around while waiting for Lyle to come up, they arrived at the agility course and Jason soon realized it was an obstacle course on top of the trees.
