How to decorate a Merman

After they finished mating Kole moved back to where he originally lay and curled up next to Lucrecia. Eventually sleep overcame them both. Neither noticed that during their lovemaking Kole had deposited some of his eggs directly into Lucrecia.

When morning came Kole woke up alone to hunt. As usual he caught himself breakfast and returned to find Lucrecia sleeping peacefully on the bank of the rockpool. He watched him for a long time until he stirred. He had never gone into heat over another creature even of his own kind when he was younger. Originally he wanted to raise Lucrecia well, but now he found he couldn't resist the urge.

Their relationship changed drastically overnight. They became mates. As Lucrecia awoke Kole stood beside him. With a gentle touch he lifted Lucrecia's chin so he could see his face. Then he leaned forward and kissed his lover tenderly upon his nose.

Lucrecia smiled at Kole. "Good morning."

"Morning," replied Kole with a smile.

Since Kole had decided to make Lucrecia his mate he need to take the right steps, one of his inherited memories of his race is that as a partner you must feed your mate. Since Kole already did this he could tick this off the list, the next thing was to give something precious to his new family member.

With that thought in mind Kole thought of the night pearls that would glow, Lucrecia seemed to like the crystals in the cave so he should like night pearls. It would take him two whole days to travel to get the night pearls though.

Kole told Lucrecia that he had to leave for a couple of days and that he would return as soon as possible, he hunted enough food for Lucrecia to have for the next few days. Once everything was ready Kole swam out of the pool and headed toward the sea.

Although Lucrecia can hunt Kole felt that as he was stronger he would take on this responsibility, however if he is late at least he knows Lucrecia will not starve. Kole wished that Lucrecia would rely on him and would not go too far from their home in case of any dangers.

As Kole made his way deeper into the ocean he saw a large school of fish swimming by. Kole took advantage and ate as much as he possibly could so he wouldn't have to waste too much time. The journey ended up only lasting three quarters of the usual time.

He found the night pearls and took the most beautiful one, then continued along the coast if he could find anything else to take back to Lucrecia.

While searching through the rocks under the water Kole happened across an old shipwreck. There were no survivors left aboard so it didn't matter what items remained. After looking around the wreck Kole found some shiny objects, looking closer he saw they had lots of coloured gems attached to chains

This was exactly what Lucrecia liked, Kole thought. He removed all the gemstones and put them into a box that was found before continuing his search. When Kole reached the end of the coastline he turned southward again to the ravine where he and Lucrecia lived.

On the shore of the rockpools sat Lucrecia, waiting patiently for Kole. His scales glistened in the surrounding glow of the crystals.

In front of Lucrecia laid a fish that he was taking apart. He had almost completely eaten all the food Kole had hunted for him.

The sound of waves crashing against the rocks filled the air which meant Kole arrived just in time. He turned and entered the water he said hello to Kole and wrapped himself tightly around Koles neck and squeezed tight.

They stayed together like that for several minutes before Kole broke away. "I have something for you." He handed Lucrecia a small box

Lucrecia opened the box and inside there were many different shapes of jewels. Each jewel sparkled in its own unique way. Some looked blue while others shone green or red. All of them contained some type of crystal within.

Lucrecia picked up each item and admired every single piece. He especially loved the ones that shined brightest, he held one in his hand and examined it closely. His eyes lit up and a wide grin spread across his lips.

Kole saw that he was happy and placed the night pearl near the rockpool where they slept.

Lucrecia was still looking at the jewels, he first put one of the chains onto his neck and then around his waist and experimented putting the chains together. Eventually Lucrecia now wore a chain with gems hanging that covered most of his torso

Lucrecia couldn't help but admire himself in the reflection of the water. What a wonderful gift!

After admiring Lucrecia's appearance Kole pulled him close and kissed the top of his head. Lucrecia smiled happily and closed his eyes.

"You look lovely," Kole whispered.

He blushed and hugged Kole tighter.

It wasn't long after that when Lucrecia began to feel hungry once more so Kole headed out to hunt again.
