After a night of poker…
The next day, Ethan brought Natasha to the New York base again.
Here, Ethan encountered the turncoat Coulson. Upon seeing Ethan, Coulson merely greeted him before quickly hurrying away. It was rumored that Dr. S46 said Coulson was busy recruiting since D-class combatants weren't being supplied by the Foundation.
"Has the Mobile Task Force arrived yet?"
Ethan asked, knowing full well what the answer would be. A true actor, always in character, just like now.
"The Mobile Task Force specifically for SCP-096 has arrived. But I must say, SCP-096 remains in an unlocatable state. We can only wait for it to make a move," Dr. S46 replied, handing Ethan a photo.
"This girl in the photo is Daisy Louise Johnson. The footage of SCP-096 was stolen from the police department, and we speculate she's seen SCP-096 and is likely one of its targets."
"So, you're suggesting we wait for it to make a move?"
Ethan raised an eyebrow as he took the photo. Another familiar face—Daisy Louise Johnson, also known as Skye, alias Quake. She was an Inhuman, or rather, a potential Inhuman.
According to the Foundation's rules, Skye also counted as a containment object—a potential containment object.
Ethan couldn't help but murmur, "Fate, truly is incredible!"
"Do you know her?" Natasha, pretending to be nonchalant, asked with a hint of bitterness.
"Of course, I know her," Ethan replied.
"Containment Object-MC-15-8-Inhuman-Skye, she's been under observation by the Foundation."
"What do you mean?"
"Literally what it means!"
Returning the photo to the doctor, Ethan responded casually.
Then he asked, "Where is she now?"
"She's still in Hell's Kitchen, investigating SCP-173. If nothing changes, we should receive news of her death by tomorrow. To provoke SCP-096 and then investigate SCP-173, this woman's bravery is extraordinary."
The doctor wasn't particularly concerned about Skye's fate. After all, this woman indirectly caused the deaths of over 3,000 people. Though not solely her fault, she bore a significant portion of the responsibility.
If Skye hadn't stolen the footage, only a few police officers and a few agents might have died. But thanks to her, the casualties from SCP-096 had multiplied several times over.
Upon hearing that Skye might die by tomorrow, Natasha asked, "Should we bring her back? I'm quite curious about how a person can be a containment object."
"Let's go together! I'm also interested in her."
Ethan nodded with a smile.
In the Marvel Universe, there weren't many women who met his aesthetic and made him feel a connection. Skye was one of the few, being a half-breed with a similar skin tone, and her potential powers after awakening were impressive.
"By the way…"
Ethan thought to himself, "System, if I collect a Marvel Universe containment object within the Marvel Universe, will there be a containment reward?"
"According to containment object rules, capturing local containment objects will grant a containment reward," the system answered monotonously.
Ethan couldn't stay calm.
Such a windfall?
No way! First, set a small target, like capturing the Five Gods. For the immediate goal…
Hulk? Or Thor?
Hmm!
A child makes choices, an adult wants them all!
To become stronger quickly, it looks like he'll have to compete with S.H.I.E.L.D. again.
Sigh! Let S.H.I.E.L.D. suffer a bit more.
After a round of "crying over spilled milk," Ethan eagerly left the base with Natasha, heading straight to Hell's Kitchen.
Although Skye hadn't awakened yet, what if the system's reward was based on her awakened form?
They hurried without additional personnel, only having Foundation satellites monitor the situation.
After the previous bomb incident, Ethan had learned to be cautious.
Although he had no self-defense abilities, he had the capability to cause chaos.
That was one of his safety nets. If someone tried to attack him, he could drag the entire nation into a nuclear explosion. After all, he had three resurrection cards—more lives meant more freedom!
"SCP-173's underground storage? It should be in this area. Doctor, where's the target?"
After getting out of the car, Ethan asked through the earpiece.
"The target is in her RV, presumably resting. Follow my directions, and I'll guide you to her…"
Ethan nodded.
Following the doctor's guidance, Ethan and Natasha found a dilapidated RV parked on a secluded street. It was Skye's RV.
Before joining S.H.I.E.L.D., Skye had top-notch hacking skills but was barely better off than a homeless person.
...
Inside the RV, Skye lay on her bed, casually reviewing some clues she had discovered over the past few days on her tablet.
"The dark web is getting more and more ridiculous. 'People who see the appearance of SCP-096 will be killed by the monster'? The authorities have removed all information about SCP-096 from the web to prevent civilian casualties?
This is nonsense! They even claim that seeing SCP-096's face in photos will lead to being pursued? I've seen it several times, and nothing has happened to me."
Skye dismissed the claims circulating on the dark web.
It was just a government conspiracy!
Anyone who believes it is a fool!
