What Masa heard was the famous Binks' Sake song, which was a song usually sung by pirates, especially the old. 

As for how he could tell, well, he just could tell, that's it. 

Still, turning his head, he saw the source of the song and saw a gigantic old ship that was seemingly almost wrecked, and at the same time, he saw a single figure on the top of that ship, tall, standing straight, holding a broken cup of tea with nothing on it. 

Everyone was normal, and this person seemed to just sing in this dark sea so it wouldn't be lonely.

Carina hugged Masa tightly and screamed in fear. "M-Masa, that's a ghost!"

The dome-shaped gigantic explosion shook the sea, causing large waves to form everywhere, yet the shock that came from this destruction caused the skeleton figure's jaw to almost fall to the floor.

Still, due to this explosion, the giant waves spread everywhere, and some of them were so large that they might capsize the ship, but strangely enough, when they were about to move, they calmed down unnaturally as if they were pushed down by their own weights. 

Unlike Machvise, while Masa from DxD wasn't a man of science, he had received knowledge from Masa from the world of Mahouka, and with the talent of the three of them, it didn't take a long time for him to develop the power of "Ton Ton no Mi," which made him even able to manipulate the mass, which was part of the weight, of a various object from a distance. 

More importantly, compared to the Jake Jake no Mi or the Pika Pika no Mi, there was no doubt that the development of the "Ton Ton no Mi" was far simpler, especially when the core of weight was mass and gravity. 

The gravity part might be a little complicated as it was related to inertia and many other things, but the mass was just a density and volume, which made it easier for him to control.

So, even if Yomi Yomi no Mi might be a good Devil Fruit, it wasn't the one he sought the most, especially when he had a limited number of Devil Fruits he could eat.
