Star Wars VRMMO

First and foremost: Yes. I drew the cover myself in Microsoft Paint. It is a masterpiece. You're welcome. This is my second work. I thought I'd give a shot at one of those game novels. I've always had a dream of there being a video game where it was kinda like a combination of an MMO and GTA but with Star Wars themes. You'd be able to travel the whole galaxy and have progression that relates to the story. I think it'd be quite interesting. Essentially, I am going to be creating a universe so this is going to be a really fun experience for me. There is gonna be no bullshit with reincarnation. Just pure exploration and luck. I might experiment with different POVs throughout the work but who knows. Lastly, sorry if I make mistakes with the math. I am going to try and keep it as simple as possible. Here is a preview: The year is 2086. The VRMMO market has been taking off in the last 20 years. Each title is more advanced than the previous. Finally, an unknown entrepreneur is creating a game that introduces an AI that fully manages the game independently. This unknown investor has partnered with Disney to create this game within the story of Star Wars. Tyler Sandberg is a 17 year old boy living in New York, USA. He lost his father in a space exploration accident and he has been living with his mother since that happened. Unfortunately, the two have been struggling financially ever since his father passed so they live a modest lifestyle. Since his father was an astronaut, he was always super into sci-fi content. Star Wars was his favorite. After finding out that there was a mysterious VRMMO Star Wars game coming out, he swore that he would make it big in the game and get him and his mom the lifestyle they deserve. DISCLAIMER: All characters, companies, and events in this novel --even those based on real world entities-- are entirely fictional. All representations are made up ... poorly. This novel contains coarse language and due to its content it should not be read by anyone.

The Guild Hall

Upon seeing the news report, Xander called Tyler. "What did you do now?"

Tyler giggled. "Oh come on. I did exactly what I told you I was going to do. The show I'm putting on is only to gain more publicity. It will also encourage the senators that will be voting on our membership plea tomorrow to look into both Limitless and Kessel so that they don't make fools out of themselves tomorrow."

Xander sighed. "Geez. What have I gotten into? You are one crazy motherfucker but I love it! At least you keep things interesting."

Tyler puffed out his chest to look proud. "Yes I do and damn am I good at it! Anyways, what is the status of your friends?"

Xander smiled. "They arrived a few hours ago. There were at least several thousand players that came off of the transport. Your friends might be on Coruscant as well. I told my group to wait at the spaceport."

Tyler nodded. "That is good news. Go and meet up with your friends and invite them to the guild. I'll do the same."

"Sounds good. See you in a bit." Xander hung up.

Tyler then joined Goby in the speeder since he was still waiting outside. He smiled. It would be great to have someone like Goby on his side. Although he isn't powerful, he is quite useful.

As they headed to the spaceport, Tyler had Goby call in a fleet of cabs to transport his new guildmates to their guild hall.

While they traveled, Tyler called John. "Hey, where are you guys?"

John sighed. "We are almost to the front of the line to get a cab. What about you?"

Tyler grinned. "I'm on my way there. Take your group out of the taxi line and go to the pick up area."

John sighed again. "I don't know why we'd get out of line but I guess I just have to trust you."

Tyler laughed. "I'll be there in a few minutes. Just rally the troops!" He hung up.

A few minutes later, John and his group of 15 players were standing by the pickup area. There was also another sizable group of players. They numbered at 24.

Suddenly, a swarm of airspeeders split out of the express lane that ran past the spaceport. They sped downwards and all crowded around the pickup area. Tyler hopped out of one of them and strolled over to John. "Hiya. Funny seeing you here!"

John and his group were struggling to keep their jaws from hitting the floor. They just arrived on Coruscant and have barely anything to their names but this guy was commanding a fleet of speeders. Only if they knew that he also had a whole ass planet.

Tyler walked over to John and dapped him up. "How was the trip?"

John stretched and cracked his back. "Those seats are so uncomfortable. At least I was able to log out for a bit."

Tyler laughed. "I pity the poor." He shook his head. "But from now on, we ride in style! You guys are all partied up, right?"

John nodded. "Yep. We have been together for almost all of our leveling."

Tyler nodded. "Great! That makes this easy." He then extended a guild invitation to John's entire party. They all accepted immediately. As soon as they saw Tyler pull up with a fleet of speeders, they instantly affirmed their thoughts of joining Limitless.

Tyler quickly promoted John to an elder and then turned to the other group of players that were standing a few meters away. "Would you guys happen to be Xander's friends?"

One of them stepped out front. "Yes we are. He told us that you might beat him here so he said to look for a guy that makes a showy entrance. I presume that would be you?"

Tyler laughed. "Oh, he knows me so well already! I am Draco. Who might you be my friend?"

"I am Kumbis."

Tyler nodded before sending his whole party a guild invite. They also accepted immediately. Aside from the showy entrance, they have heard about Xander's escapades with Draco. They might really not have limits like the guild name implies!

Tyler then called Xander. "Hey, I've got both of our groups here. Is the guild hall ready?"

When the players in both groups heard those words, they were shocked. Guild halls aren't something that can just be purchased so easily. One needs to have enough reputation with the system in order to be able to even own property. This goes the same for guilds.

Xander nodded. "Yep. The contractors just left a few minutes ago. It is glorious."

Tyler smiled. "That is fantastic news. I will go fetch both of our starfighters and meet you in the hangar. If you will, please welcome our new guild members."

Yet again, everyone's jaws hit the floor. Starfighters? More than one? Who the fuck is this guy?

Xander nodded. "Sounds good. I'll send a message to R3 regarding this. See you soon!" He hung up.

Tyler turned to the two groups. "Alright everyone. Pile into the cabs. I have already paid the fee so don't worry about having to break the bank! I'll join you all shortly."

Without giving anyone a chance to respond, he hopped into Goby's speeder and they took off. Everyone was frozen for a few seconds while they wrapped their heads around what just happened. In addition, the huge line of players waiting in the taxi line was giving them their undivided attention. Countless looks of envy and greed were painted across their faces.

Shaking themselves out of their stupor, they loaded into the cabs and then took off towards the guild hall.

When they arrived, they were in for a surprise. The guild hall was huge! In addition, it was just outside of the Senate District! This was prime real estate. Just how much does something like this cost?

However, they were slightly misled. Their guild hall only included the top 10 floors of the building. The rest of it was available for expansion in the future. It was still massive and even had its own hangar!

The fleet of cabs dropped them all off in the hangar. Waiting there was Xander. "Welcome brothers. Let us wait for our guild leader. He should be here momentarily."

As he said this, two Jedi Interceptors approached the hangar and touched down. Once they landed, two astromech droids dropped out of their slots. Then, the star of the show hopped out of his fighter using the force to make for a flashy entrance.

John rolled his eyes. "Dude, why do you always have to make a scene? We already have the whole galaxy watching us!"

Tyler laughed. "Oh shush. Am I not allowed to have my fun? Anyways, in case anyone forgot, I am Draco, Jedi Knight, Guild Leader of Limitless, Sovereign of the Kessel system, and soon to be Senator to the Galactic Republic."

Silence purveyed the room. How were they supposed to react? They knew that he was a Jedi Knight and their guild leader. But what of the other things? Sovereign of the Kessel System? Senator to the Galactic Republic? WHO IS THIS MAN?

As Tyler and Xander saw the looks on all of their faces, they broke into a fit of laughter. "Draco, you are one of a kind. The looks on their faces are priceless!"

Tyler stood tall and puffed out his chest. "I am great, aren't I?" This eliminated the tension in the room and everyone started to laugh. There was something funny about their guild leader acting in this manner. It made them happy. They felt that based on what he was accomplishing, they would be super rich and successful even if they were merely side characters in his show.

"Xander, would you mind leading the tour? I have no fuckin idea where I'm going."

Xander laughed. "Of course. Alright everyone, follow me!"

The hangar was massive. It took up the two bottom floors entirely and had openings on two sides. In the middle of the hangar on both sides of the floor plan, there was a set of elevators. There were also several workshops for engineering.

The third floor was the reception area. It was quite grand. It was just as ornate as the Senate Building. Xander did not skip on any expenses for this floor as they would likely be welcoming important guests in the future. There was a reception desk, lounge furniture, a large landing pad, private reception rooms, conference rooms, toilets, and some other luxuries. There were also guild counters to handle the guild bank, shop, and quests among other things.

The fourth floor was the entertainment floor. There was a casino, a few restaurants, a cafeteria, and a pool and spa area. The pool and spa took up about 40% of the floor.

The fifth floor was the medical bay. It was designed like a standard hospital. There was a reception area, an emergency landing pad, operating rooms, recovery rooms, and a set of bacta tanks.

The sixth floor was dedicated to professions and secondary classes. There were several workshops for each of the crafting classes, a set of flight simulators, a shooting range, and an indoor greenhouse.

The seventh and eighth floors were residential blocks. They held hundreds of rooms for guild members to rest. They were small but that was really all they needed if they even spent a night on Coruscant at all. The rooms were complete with a bed, a closet, a small desk, a chair, and a full bathroom.

The ninth floor was a private residential floor. The Vice Guild leaders will live here and any important guests will also stay here. There were only 20 suites on this floor. Each one was complete with a kitchen, master bedroom, guest bedroom, 2 full bathrooms, one half bathroom, a balcony, and a pool on said balcony.

The tenth floor was a hybrid floor. A quarter of the floor was dedicated to the Guild Leader's quarters. The adjacent quarter of the floor space was split into a large conference room, a few smaller conference rooms, a reception hall, and a small general purpose workshop. This workshop would be exclusive to force sensitive classes and anything else Tyler decides to do in here. It officially belonged to him so he could advance his professions but he was willing to allow other Jedi and Sith guildmates to make use of it. The other half of the tenth floor was home to a small hangar that can fight fighters and small transports, a reception area, and a small landing pad.

Since they own the top floor of the skyscraper, they also own the rooftop. The top of the building was a recreational area meant for entertaining. There were two bars, two pools with swim up bars, a large restaurant, a spa, and various scattered lounge furniture.

To say the least, the guild hall was quite impressive. Seeing how impressive the guild hall was, he came up with a fantastic idea. He quickly called Maro. "Hello my friend! How are you doing?"

Maro laughed. "I am doing great! I have been thanking Goby over and over for referring you to me. It makes me happy that I can do business with someone of your standing."

Tyler smiled. "That is good to hear. I will be sure to give you plenty of business in the future. I promise that you will be the exclusive droid channel for Limitless and our subsidiaries. On that note, I am in need of people. How good are your connections?"

Maro scoffed. "You underestimate me my friend. What kind of connections are you looking for?"

Tyler grinned. "I am hiring for my guild hall. I need a few hundred people by tonight. I need some bartenders, chefs, servers, receptionists, attendants, cleaners, and engineers. Whatever is enough to staff the facilities in my guild hall. Can you do it?"

Maro thought for a moment. "It will not be easy but I can have them at your guild hall within two hours. Is this okay?"

Tyler nodded. "That would be perfect. I am also in need of resource channels for food and beverages. If you would be so kind as to have some people who deal with those products contact me immediately, I would appreciate it. And don't worry, I will reward you handsomely for your services. By the way, you are always welcome to associate with Limitless if you'd like. I would be happy to have your shop as one of my subsidiaries."

Maro sighed. "I can do all of that for you. And for your proposition, I will think it over. Give me a few hours to decide."

Tyler smiled. "That is great. I'll send over some credits as a thank you right away." Tyler hung up. He then transferred 10,000 credits to Maro to help him along in his decision to join Limitless. His resource channels, connections, and engineering skill would be of huge help to the guild.

Once he was done with that call, he called the Office of the Chancellor. One of his aides answered the call. "You have reached the Office of the Supreme Chancellor. How may I help you?"

"Hi, this is Draco speaking. Would you be able to patch me in to Chancellor Valorum? I have an urgent matter to discuss with him."

The aide scrambled after hearing Draco's name. "Oh, yes of course, I'll patch you in now."

After a few seconds, Valorum was on the line. "Lord Draco, to what do I owe this pleasure?"

Draco smiled. "The renovations just finished on my guild hall. I thought that I'd invite you over for a dinner party tonight at 8. We have quite the facility here. I am confident that you'd enjoy it."

Valorum was surprised. "I would love to come, Lord Draco. Would you like anyone else to attend?"

Draco thought for a moment. He realized that this would be a great opportunity. "Actually, yes. Please put out an open invitation to all of the senators. They are allowed to bring a plus one with them. It would be most beneficial if I were to meet them before the hearing tomorrow." The side goal of this action was to intimidate a certain old man. It is important to establish a position of power when dealing with slimy schemers.

Valorum was joyful. "That sounds fantastic. I will send out an invitation immediately. I look forward to your hospitality."

Tyler nodded. "Great! It's a date then. I'll be seeing you later then."

Valorum nodded. "Indeed. See you later." He then hung up.

Tyler then turned to Xander, "We need to go acquire some formal attire for everyone. There are currently 42 members in the guild. 33 guys and 9 girls. Let's have a tailor take everyone's measurements so we can go to a clothing store."

Xander raised his brow. "Why would we need such a thing?"

Tyler grinned. "I may or may not have invited the Chancellor and the entire Senate to a dinner party…"

Xander nearly fainted from shock. "I swear, your antics are going to kill me before anything else can. Wait, what are we going to do about staffing the facilities? The guild hall is essentially an empty husk right now."

Tyler scoffed. "And I thought you knew me. I called Maro. He has that and resource acquisition handled."

Xander sighed. "I have underestimated you yet again."

Tyler puffed out his chest. "I know I know. You can say it. I'm the best!"

Xander rolled his eyes. He then turned to the patiently waiting guild members. "Alright, who is a tailor?"

Three players stepped forward. "I need you three to take everyone's measurements for formal wear. Then create a list with everyone's names and measurements. We are having an event tonight!"

About 30 minutes later, everyone's measurements were taken. Xander then quickly left to retrieve the formal wear.

Tyler turned to the crowd. He had his scheming face on. Everyone got nervous. "Everyone, pay attention. Since we have some time, I am going to see what you guys have got. This examination will determine your starting rank in the guild. We are going to start recruiting soon so I want to establish our standards. I want our normal members to have the same strength as elites in other guilds. Every echelon of Limitless must be at least a step above everyone else. That is the only way we will come out on top."

"Everyone pair up. You will be taking me on in a 2v1 spar. If you are put in a position where your opponent could kill you without question, you lose. The same condition goes for me. Your performance will determine your status in the guild. Let's get moving!"

After two hours, Tyler had given everyone a thorough beating. There were a few close calls but he won every single spar. However, he completely expected this. He is a force enhanced player on top of being 4 levels higher than all of them.

Regardless, he was quite satisfied with the results. There were only 4 players that matched the standard for normal members. 22 players earned elite status, 12 players earned core status, and 2 players were promoted to elder.

Coincidentally, the two elders were John and Kumbis. It kind of makes sense since they were the party leaders of their respective groups.

After the ranks were distributed, Tyler stood in front of the group. "That was great everyone. Make sure you remember that your rank in the guild is not static. You are able to rise through the ranks up to guild elder on merit alone. Keep in mind that you can fall down the rankings just as easily."

"Tomorrow we will begin our recruitment efforts. Essentially, there will be an exam. To join the guild, a participant must be able to defeat at least one of our members in a spar. We are going to be taking the path of the elite. We have no room for weak combatants in Limitless."

"Depending on the rank of the member they defeat, that is what they will be in the guild. In addition, anyone who is a Jedi, Sith, intermediate or higher pilot, and/or advanced profession or secondary class will automatically pass the test. However, they will be ranked in the same way."

"I will also need you guys to inform any profession oriented players that we will be founding a subsidiary soon to manage those players. The last thing is that anyone that joins the guild will be forced to sign an extremely strict contract that varies with each rank. This includes you guys. This contract is going to be enforced by the game so I would highly recommend that you do not even think about breaking the terms."

He then sent out the contracts. Everyone was shocked when they found out how thorough the contract was. It was as if it was written by a legal team. In addition to being thorough, the contract was truly vicious.

Anyone above elite members were required to wipe their account if they wished to disaffiliate. Even normal and elite members would be required to fork over an exorbitantly high severance fee that would include the value of anything provided by or purchased from the guild.

This would effectively eliminate anyone who planned on freeloading until shit hits the fan.

Despite their shock, every single person signed the contract. Once everyone was officially registered with the guild, Tyler spoke up. "Now that we have gotten that over with, I am going to address a few things. First, I am sure you guys have noticed that there have been a few changes since you have reached level 10. Particularly with your bodies. Using the bathroom, eating, bathing, sleeping, and drinking are now necessary activities. This is why there are so many accommodations available in the guild hall. The number of rooms available will only increase in the future."

"Secondly, we will not be using a guild point system. All transactions between you and the guild will be completed using credits or capital resources. You will be receiving a salary based on your rank so you don't have to worry about prioritizing income channels. In addition, any quest rewards are yours to keep. However, if you do find any potential income channels, please inform me immediately. If it proves to be profitable, I personally promise that you will be rewarded a heft finder's fee."

"For the final order of business, you all should know what is happening tonight. Essentially, I invited the Chancellor and the entirety of the senate to our guild hall for a dinner party. This will be critical to our development. If we can establish friendly relations with these senators, we will have more opportunities in the future. You can never have too many powerful friends."

"Do not forget that you now represent Limitless. You represent me. You also represent any current and future systems under our control. A single fuck up on your part could potentiall impact countless people. I encourage you all to go take a shower, relax, and get a drink in your system to mellow out. There will be a lot of important people here in a few hours and we need to make a good impression. You are all dismissed for now. I will send out a message once Xander is back with the formal wear."
