Chapter 56 Uninvited guests.

Daniel went back to the chamber and demanded in a loud voice.

-Call them off,I don't care who summoned this fleet but if they fire one shot in this system they will be destroyed.

Everyone was shocked at his commanding tone.

-We would like to call them off but they don't answer any hails.

Liliana said.

-Then can you still contact the ships you all came in?

He asked.

-Yes we have contact with them.

-Then tell them not to interfere and I will inform my men to not fire on them.

Everyone quickly contacted their cruisers to stop them from getting involved.

Daniel also called Tommy and informed him about the situation.

In the reply he got.

If they open fire on my ship then i will fire back,according to the ruler i can defend myself.

Tommy managed to get back to his ship before the enemy fleet got within the firing range.

When he got to the bridge everyone was on their station and the ship was ready for combat.

-Status report.

He said,and received all the reports he needed.

The enemy fleet consisted of three cruisers,seven destroyers,fifteen frigates and twenty five corvettes.

And all of them had their weapons powered and shields online.

-Change ammunition in the torpedo tube 1, load it with the shield torpedo.

This torpedo was just designed by Jessica and it contained several small shield generators the same they used in the power armors.

The idea was to create a one time shield consisting of several smaller shields it had enough power to last for about three seconds but that was more than enough to intercept most of the incoming ordinance.

The weapon also had a small explosive charge built in, that activated after its shields went down so no one could copy its technology.

Jess was always designing new gadgets and weapons for the crew and she loved it when they were useful.

Daniel was coordinating the fleet and defense platforms stationed around the system.

He also sent a message on all channels.

-Incoming fleet power down and turn back if you fire one shot in this system you will be destroyed.

The fleet ignored him and started targeting the Star of Vengeance.

Tommy returned the favor,he concentrated on the cruisers as they were the biggest danger to him.

Then they opened fire all at once.

Tommy orders to return fire and also to deploy the shield torpedo.

The energy weapons that the fleet had were faster than missiles and torpedoes so they hit first but the shield created by the torpedo intercepted most of them and even if it didn't stop the attack it greatly reduced its power.

The first salvo barely managed to take 8% of the shields.

On the other hand Tommy's first salvo managed to heavily damage two of the cruisers.

Especially effective were the MAC rounds since all other ships were anticipating energy weapons and their shields were calibrated for them.

After the first exchange the dragon star fleet and defense platforms joined in .

The effect was: all enemy ships destroyed within two minutes.

After the battle if you could even call it that Daniel contacted Tommy.

-Tommy i need your help with figuring this out, this was a suicide attack and i dont belive that nobles have troops this loyal to them.

Not to mention that this cost them another 50 ships which are needed for the war.

-Daniel i Appreciate the help and i agree that this attack was strange but I'm not sticking around to find out how many ships they are willing to lose to destroy mine.

The moment I talk with Jenny about her plans I'm jumping out and leaving the empire.

-Then what about the war? we could really use your help with that.

-There won't be a war,the last time the bugs attacked the empire it was barely able to stop them.Now they have ten times more ships and some new ones from what i heard.

This will be a massacre plain and simple,I know about the space minefields and the mines on the planets but let's be reasonable this is a fight that is already lost.

The only chance I see for the empire is to allow the bugs to spread out and then destroy them one by one but this plan needs time to implement and the empire would lose more than half of its territory not to mention that billions would die.

-So you're just going to run away and leave everything for the bugs to take? 

-I already told you that I'm only interested in getting my sister back.

You should heed my advice and get out of here while you still can

-I can't just leave when I'm already under contract you know that.

-Then you will lose most if not all of the fleet,don't get me wrong i know first hand just how powerful the fleet is but in this case they will get swarmed by the enemy with overwhelming numbers and even if they destroy a hundred ships each, before they get taken out it won't make much difference.

-I know all that and that's why we will be using the hit and run tactics.

-Then maybe we will see each other again because if the empire doesn't have some miracle weapons hidden somewhere then the simple math shows that this is a losing battle.

The last invasion had the numerical advantage ten to one. This one has at least a hundred to one and from what I saw of the noble ships they won't stand a chance.

-Captain there is a wormhole forming on the edge of this system.

Anne broke up the conversation.

-Put it on the screen.

The image changed to the vortex forming near the system but it was still unstable and it would take around four hours to stabilize according to Anne.

When it fully formed and stabilized it would be big enough to send an entire armada through.

 -Check the energy riddings.

Tommy ordered praying that he was wrong.

-The energy signature matches that of the Xindarians.

Anne said, turning pale.

-Daniel evacuated everyone. The bugs just started their invasion and this is their first target.

-I already ordered the evacuation but it will take time.

-You have around four hours to get out of here after that the whole army of bugs will come for dinner.

-What are your plans?

-I'm going to drop some presents for the guests and then assist with the evacuation, just ,make sure that there will be no nobles on my shuttles.

-Roger that, send them down and you can pick them up when you return.

Tommy immediately sent all three shuttles down to the planet and then micro-jumped to drop some of Jessica's special mines.
