Chapter 7 A Demon Loved an Angel

Mariefe continued. Please let me talk to you after class. Go to the guidance office after your class. I need something to discuss confidential. This is important.

I then proceeded to our drawing or drafting class. Out topic for that day is bird’s eye view, man’s eye view and worm’s eye view. We are first given simple objects like boxes and pyramids. Then we have to construct a simple house and put into drawing.

“Please don’t be shocked or alarmed to the one I am going to tell you. Promise me this.”, Mariefe said. “Do you promise?”, “I am pregnant and you are the father.”, she added. I laughed hilariously. This beautiful lady could crack a joke. “Enough of the fun.”, she said. “Do you promise?”, she asked while holding my hand. I paused and nodded. “You know Miguel, he is the shapeshifter. He is the one who killed Dr. Austria.”, she said in a moderate voice.

Tears fell after hearing the message. I couldn’t believe that he is a killer. “Are you not mistaken?”, asking Mariefe. “How did you know?”, I asked. Let me tell you the story.

“A demon loves an angel. With all the capricious indulgences, a demon has fallen in love. Was that even possible? All of God and the angels forbid. Demons can shapeshift. They can turn into animals or even humans. Ages back there was a demon named Miguel, the destroyer. He came to destroy, kill and steal. He lies, living a sinful life. He acquires some manners. He learns to live among us. At first, he turned into a snake. Then one night, he entered a home and bit a baby then went away. The baby died. Miguel on the other hand turned into a baby. A loving family adopted him. He was crying aloud on walkway near a cemetery.”, she said.

After becoming a baby, he grows up a serial killer, a psychopath, a sociopath. He acquires the skills of the one he kills. He goes on a cycle of death and rebirth. After death, his body again becomes a snake, then to a baby. He has killed a lot and it was estimated than he is the age of Luke. What a gruesome life. Nobody would dare to love him if they know his life. Nobody would dare even touch him. His kills are sporadic. He has killed many from babies to presidents.

One time, he met the prettiest lady in the country and probably the whole world. Nothing compares to her beauty. She was like an angel. Many dared to court her. She caught the attention of Miguel. Miguel felt something. This was the first time he fell in love. Is that even possible? Demons don’t feel anything about humans. Humans are there to satisfy their bloodlust. They kill whenever possible.

She was a playful angel and would want to play with humans. Angels seems to be busy in heaven. They always worship God. She wants to feel like to be human. Humans experience hate, pain, rejection and a lot more. She wants to experience those also. She wants to feel like to bleed, to cry, to laugh till her hearts are out and experience daily living and hardships. She asked God for this favor that she wanted to be a human. God asked, are you willing to lose those feathers. Those feathers turned into special items.

Miguel always visits her. He also always brings gifts. What he does negatively is kill other suitors. He will befriend other suitors and given the right time and chance, he kills them. One by one, from a hundred, down to ten is the number of suitors left. There is no trace for his killings. He is a skilled killer. What more if he got a magic item? It would be really disastrous.

Back to the courting, I said he brings gifts. This gifts range from cheap to really expensive ones. These are the possessions of the ones he killed. One time he gave a stick, one time he gave a diamond ring. The lady did not accept any gifts except for food. She ate a lot but never gets fat. She is really a catch. The food should be prepared well to the level of Michelin. She also becomes a guest of the Hunter Association for gourmet testing. If she wills, she can become a gourmet hunter. She is overqualified.

One time, the princess of Mindanao got to hear about the girl. She became jealous of her popularity. She tried to poison her. A servant became a suitor and made plan. He gave the lady Verbantinuum. Little that they know that the angel has great senses exceeding that of the dogs. Sleep like the dogs as the saying goes. She could smell the poison meters away. When the pie was given, she purposely accidentally dropped it. “I am aware of your intention.”, the angel said. The sample of the pie was tested and it was found to have high contents of Verbantinum. The poison is only found in Verbantinuum fruit, only native to Maguindanao. The suitor was detained. “Who sent you here?”, the cop asked. “Did you know that our lady is a public figure?”, the cop said.

On the evening, Bruno the suitor was given his food. He cannot be woke up in the morning. He is rushed to the hospital but later pronounced dead. His autopsy showed that he ingested Colornia, a deadly poison. Miguel initiated the killing. He shapeshifted into a cook and prepared the meal. The real cook was interrogated. He said that someone gave him a drink and he was asleep for hours. Who is the one who gave the drink. He said that she was the prettiest person he has ever seen. “Is that your mom?”, kidding aside by the interrogating cop. The poison that was used was more powerful than Compound 1080. It is advised the body be buried or cremated as soon as possible for the body is poisonous up to two years. That is how powerful the Colornia…

“I was the angel.”, Mariefe said.
