Georgia walked into the Council Chambers. She remembered standing on a chair so people could see her. That had been a few years ago. She wouldn't be standing on any chairs tonight. She'd taken special care with her appearance for this meeting. She didn't want to look too casual, but neither did she want to look like a little girl dressing up to impress the adults. She compromised on a pair of dress pants and a favourite sweater. Her dad wanted her to wear one of her necklaces, but she decided to put on the little leather medicine bag Anna gave her. To make her dad feel better she wore one of her bracelets.
The Chambers were already full when she got there. Tom waved her over.
"We've saved you a seat." He was standing very close to Anna and Georgia had to hide a grin.
More people packed in and they had to open the doors and give people space to stand in the mall. The Deputy Minister, Grace, came out of the RCMP detachment. Clever, there aren't any safer places in town.
