Tang Ning's heart skipped a beat. She immediately yelled into the phone, "Qin Mu, are you okay?"
As Tang Ning yelled at Qin Mu, he finally responded. However, after calling out to her, he did not make another sound.
"Qin Mu, where are you right now? Did something happen to you?" Tang Ning called out as she heard the sound of water getting louder and louder. She lifted her head and looked at the clock on the wall. It was almost 10:00 PM.
She suddenly remembered that during the day, Shan Shan had asked her if she wanted to check out the high tide at night. However, there were not many high tides at night, so she had rejected Shan Shan request because she needed to prepare for the business trip the next day.
She quickly hung up the phone and dialed Shan Shan's number. "Can you tell me when the high tide will be tonight?"
Shan Shan was pleasantly surprised. "Did you change your mind? Are you coming now?"
"Yes. Tell me the time first!"
"I'm already at the beach. Another 40 minutes. Are you coming?
Tang Ning grabbed a jacket as she said, "Wait there, I'm coming to find you!"
She rushed out of the house and the cold autumn wind blew her face. Then, she realized her face was covered in tears.
The taxi quickly drove Tang Ning to the beach. She was betting that Qin Mu was in A City. There was only 1 beach in A City, and that was the place where she scattered the old woman's ashes last time!
However, it was also possible that Qin Mu was not in A City. Therefore, she tried her best not to think about it. She could only try her best to search for Qin Mu.
"Ning Ning, over here!" Shan Shan waved at Tang Ning. She loved the sea, especially watching the high tide at night. She was happy that Tang Ning was able to watch it with her. "Are you also attracted by the charm of the sea? Why are you in such a hurry?"
Tang Ning grabbed onto Shan Shan's wrist. "Help me!"
"What?"
Tang Ning did not have the time to explain too much to Shan Shan. All she could do was tell her that there might be a sick or injured person on the beach. They needed to find that person before the tide rose.
The 2 girls began to search the cold and wet beach. Shan Shan asked, "Maybe if we report this to the police, they'll find that person before us."
Tang Ning replied anxiously, "I don't have any concrete evidence to prove that the person is on the beach, so I can only look for him myself!"
As it was already past the peak tourist season, the beach was practically empty at 11:00 PM. There were motorboats and other recreational boats parked on the beach. There were also a few kiosks that were normally used for sightseeing, but the lights had already been turned off.
The tide continued to rise. At first, the ground was merely damp, but after a while, the water had already reached her ankles. Tang Ning became even more nervous. If Qin Mu had already fainted, he would drown in the sea!
Tang Ning glanced at the crescent moon in the sky. She never prayed, so she thought to herself. 'Qin Mu, please don't die!'
The loose sand and the cold sea water had drained all their energy. They ran around the beach, and they were exhausted.
Shan Shan clutched her stomach and said, "Ning Ning, I can't run anymore. Maybe the person isn't even here!"
Tang Ning glanced at Shan Shan. The weak moonlight reflected her tears. "Wait for me by the beach. I'll keep looking!"
Shan Shan gritted her teeth. "Then I'll help you! How could I leave you here all by yourself?"
At that moment, a small pavilion on the beach attracted the attention of the 2 women. Shan Shan said, "That's weird. Why the door of the pavilion isn't closed properly? With tonight's high tide, the seawater will pour in!"
"Let's go take a look!" Tang Ning's voice was weak because she was exhausted, but her tone was determined.
The 2 women ran over with all their might. Finally, at the entrance of the pavilion, they saw a person curled up inside. Under the flashlight on her phone, Tang Ning saw Qin Mu! The seawater had already poured in and was about to cover his mouth and nose!
