Chapter 10

Entering the ship I thought that science fiction had come true.

But I can't find anything science related.

I mean, where is the bridge? Also, it looks like it's made from steel but it feels different.

I search the ship. And after a while, I thought of giving up.

I mean, I can't find anything. It doesn't look like it has a power source. Then, how the hell did this thing fly?

Something like an engine or a reactor should be here.

But no matter where I searched, I couldn't find it.

Maybe it's hidden.

I am dejected. I look at Hazel.

"Can you find something?" I ask her.

She sniffed around a bit and started running.

I follow her. And two minutes later, I am in front of a door.

This door looks a little different.

A little taller than me.

Come to think of it, I have searched all of this ship.

But, from the outside, it looked pretty small.

I believe I have walked over a kilometer just searching this ship once.

I ask Hazel,

"Do you feel anything?"

She nodded and wagged her tail.

Maybe she wants me to enter.

But I don't see any lock or keypad.

Maybe it's locked or something.

I touch the door.

It has a weird sensation.

The metal, it's made from is different from normal iron or steel.

Maybe something other than those.

But while I was thinking about those, the door suddenly started glowing.

It's glowing and opening.

"Wha…." I was surprised.

It opened just like that. Was the lock something else like that data center?

It opened and a room came into view.

It has seats and something that looks like a control panel.

So this must be the bridge. But why couldn't I find it before?

I thank Hazel.

I enter the bridge. It looks like a normal plane cockpit and nothing special. It's just the size of a room.

I look around but I make sure not to touch anything.

I don't know what does what.

Hazel then pointed at a shelf.

What's a shelf doing in a cockpit anyway?

And this room feels bigger than the first time I entered.

What is with this ship? Maybe it's some kind of weird advanced technology.

I go to the shelf.

It has some things that looks like devices.

I pick up a necklace looking one.

"What does it do?"

I think. It looks like an amulet. Like one of those European ones. It has a crescent shape and it's silver colored.

I put it on. Most would say that it's reckless.

I say try everything out. No matter the cost or the dangers, if you want to find out, that's the way.

I look at Hazel to see if anything has changed.

Physically I am ok. No changes. Mental side is clear as well.

So what does this thing do?

I ponder over that and keep searching. I find a book.

A book? But I can totally understand what it says.

Wait, I take off that necklace and look again.

I don't know what it means. But then I hold it and look.

I can totally understand it. So, this is probably helping me by translating the language.

It's awesome. I just overcame the language barrier.

So I should be able to search more efficiently if I know what everything means.

I look at the control panel.

I see some labeled buttons.

This is for operating the ship.

And I find the power button.

But I didn't press it.

Those aliens should be still outside. So I shouldn't be hasty.

I should find the arsenal. I still have those firearms with me but it is kinda unknown if they would work or not.

I don't want any uncertain factor.

So, I should arm myself to repel them.

I exit the bridge and search the ship again.

Now, I know which is what. So I found the arsenal without much effort.

The weapons are weird. It has guns but looks old and swords and stuff.

It even has sticks and some staves.

Don't they have modern weapons? I pick up a gun.

I feel the barrel and triggers but how does it operate. I see no magazines or bullets.

This is a weird gun or is its ammo in the armory?

They may have separated the weapons.

I take that gun. Still better than nothing.

I took a staff as well. It looks like a plain wooden staff but it's not wood.

Are these those fantasy style weapons?

I exit the arsenal with that gun and the staff.

But I hadn't noticed. Hazel also took something with her.

When I was walking she showed it to me.

A vest. Very thin vest.

"What is that?" I ask her.

She just gave that to me.

It's true that I am not wearing an armor. And if this is something worn by them then I should wear that.

It has peculiar color. Nor gray nor black nor white. What should I say?

I put it on. Feels like any other piece of clothing.

I stop thinking about that and go back to the cockpit.

I search for a camera. To see their movements. They should have something like a radar.

I find one. But it showed something else.

The number of dots it's showing is basically the whole human population.

But they should be dead and why is it showing only humans?

I look at the settings and find that it's searching for radiation signature.

After the war, all humans absorbed radiation. So we still have some left.

If they search for humans by radiation signature then that explains it.

I was wearing my lead jacket. It blocked the radiation. So I was safe.

Now I found their blind spot. I still have the jacket on.

So they shouldn't be able to find me.

It gives me an edge.

As long as I am not directly caught, I can even stay inside.

But I shouldn't dwell on that.

Hazel is getting impatient.

So I quickly gather some things and leave the ship.

They should notice if things are gone. But I hope that they remain oblivious to it.

I move to my previous spot from where I was listening in on them.

They came back. But they look dejected for some reason.

Let's try to find out the situation. If I understand their language then it should be okay.
