"Too many coincidences are inevitable." - Sherlock Holmes
Regularity and inevitability are the nature of internal causes, while randomness is the nature of external conditions that interact between discrete entities.
Everything that has already happened is bound to occur; there are no absolute coincidences or probabilities.
The universe is both finite and infinite.
For any individual universe, whatever happens is just the result of its internal and inherent evolution. It won't randomly gain or lose anything.
However, for "parallel universes," as long as the representation of the former "system" is continually expanded to accommodate more and more things, until it expands to "countless worlds," things that originally seemed coincidental will become determinate factors with inherent inevitability.
This historical determinism has different names in different places.
Philosophically, it's called "certainty."
In quantum physics, it's known as the "Infinite Chrono Array."
Based on this, Mark could deduce that the reason such a Green Goblin appeared in this world was related to the disintegrated Green Goblin body in that other world!
Quantum entanglement!
When quantum randomness jumps between universes, there are moments when they become intertwined with each other!
Could it be that Norman Osborn from other worlds also experienced quantum entanglement?
One minute, two minutes, Mark stood beside the Green Goblin, brainstorming with his limited knowledge of quantum physics, observing the Green Goblin's condition.
He wanted to confirm whether this Green Goblin's "resurrection" was a one-time thing or multiple times.
However, after waiting for five minutes, he didn't see any signs of the Green Goblin's revival.
No, not only did he not resurrect, but his identity regressed. He reverted from the mutated form to the initial human-like form.
Then, the Green Goblin's body started to rapidly wither, even emitting a putrid odor.
"This is..." Mark hesitated for a moment before suddenly realizing, "Genetic chain collapse! It looks like he's truly dead!"
Mark leaped away from the scene.
When he arrived at the place where he had encountered Gwen Stacy before, he saw Spider-Man continuously dodging attacks from Lizard Gwen.
"Tsk tsk, love and hate indeed~" Mark looked at the scene, clicking his tongue in amazement.
While Spider-Man dodged, he attempted to awaken the rationality in Lizard Gwen, but it seemed futile.
Seeing Mark return, Spider-Man quickly sought help.
"Couldn't you have used your webs to immobilize her first?" Mark said exasperatedly.
Even if you don't want to hurt Gwen, it doesn't mean you have to keep getting chased and attacked, right?
Lizard Gwen's level of mutation wasn't even as high as Lizard Doctor Connors. From external appearances, her physical attributes only seemed to have increased by four or five times compared to before.
She wasn't even as formidable as the Green Goblin without his equipment.
Subduing her was a simple task.
Sensing an opportunity, Mark decisively intervened, shooting out two strands of webbing in succession, securely pinning Lizard Gwen to the wall behind her.
"All right, what about the serum you prepared earlier? Just inject her with it," Mark said casually.
"The serum..." Spider-Man's face turned pale, "The serum is gone."
"What?" Mark blinked in surprise, "Didn't I ask you to bring the genetic formula to destroy it? You must have prepared a good amount of serum in advance, right?"
Andrew Spider's voice was dry as he explained, "But before it could be completely destroyed, Norman Osborn appeared. He was flying a strange glider that damaged the serum-producing machine and destroyed the prepared antidote serum inside."
Mark was dumbfounded, "Didn't you guys think about storing the antidote serum somewhere safe?"
Andrew Spider fell silent.
Mark was speechless.
He initially believed that as long as the serum was present, Gwen Stacy would return to normal after the battle, so he wasn't worried at all.
Turned out his teammate...
Mark said, "We must find a way to separate the genes within her. Just now, the Green Goblin, or Norman Osborn's body, experienced genetic chain collapse suddenly. I suspect it might be due to a defect in the serum he used."
Andrew Spider immediately grew anxious upon hearing this.
The Green Goblin experienced genetic chain collapse after absorbing the Lizard Gene Serum.
If it was due to a clash between the two genes, that would be one thing, but if it was because of a defect in the Lizard Gene Serum itself, it meant Gwen was also at risk!
"First, search the building for any other machines!" Mark instructed, "I'll stay here with Gwen. If you don't find anything in half an hour, we might have to try my method."
"Mark, do you have another solution?" Andrew Spider's tone was filled with urgency.
Mark shook his head, "My method comes with extremely high risks. If possible, it's better not to use it."
"I understand," Andrew Spider quickly climbed upwards and returned to the room they were in before, searching for another machine.
In this regard, there was nothing Mark could do.
He hadn't seen the machine, so only Andrew Spider could locate it.
However, half an hour later, Lizard Gwen's condition began to deteriorate.
Mark noticed her body trembling slightly, similar to what he had seen happening to the Green Goblin earlier.
This was a precursor to genetic chain collapse!
Because genetic chain collapse would cause significant damage to the body, the body's tissues would involuntarily tremble.
Lizard Gwen let out a series of agonizing screams, in intense pain.
Mark had no choice but to deliver a chop to her neck, using a physical anesthesia to temporarily alleviate her pain.
Andrew Spider returned to this location, looking dazed and lost.
Seeing his appearance, Mark knew he hadn't found anything for sure.
It made sense. The Osborn Corporation's primary business was in power and weaponry, and biotechnology was only a small part of their projects, mainly intended for Norman Osborn's personal life extension.
The machines capable of producing the serum didn't really need two units.
In reality, many test subjects didn't survive the experiments.
"Mark," Andrew Spider saw Lizard Gwen's condition and quickly understood the crisis she was facing. He couldn't help but plead with Mark.
Sighing, Mark said, "Well... then I'll have to try my method. Bring her to flat ground first."
The two of them chose to head directly to the top floor of Osborn Tower.
Because the battle had ended, there were already many personnel gathering below for cleanup, causing quite a bit of noise.
The top floor of the several dozen meters high Osborn Tower had unexpectedly become a rare quiet spot in the vicinity.
Mark removed his battle suit, approaching Lizard Gwen's side.
On the other side, Andrew Spider had already taken off his mask, watching his girlfriend with deep concern.
"She might wake up later. Keep her under control. This is also my first time using this ability, so try not to disturb me," Mark instructed.
"Okay," Andrew Spider nodded solemnly.
Then, Mark extended his right hand, placing it on Lizard Gwen's face.
A starry sky appeared in his eyes.
