Bai Lang needed time, he had to decide what he wanted to do with Claire and the people who disregarded his life. He didn't know how to face these people. He also didn't know how to face his big brother, who was the only one he considered family. Bai Lang decided he needed a moment to himself and just breathe. He had sufficient skills to survive outside for a while, so he decided not to go back to Headquarters straight away. He needed a break and needed to take a minute to think about what his next step should be.
To give himself time Bai Lang took his weapon and made his way towards a building nearby. He knew this building was mostly safe because the squad had cleaned this building as a resting spot before venturing in the building he was currently at. When Bai Lang arrived in the building he checked if it was still free of monsters. Thankfully he was lucky, the building was just as they left it before. Bai Lang sat down on a chair and took out some food. He needed a while to get his thoughts in order.
Bai Lang felt like he gave them everything and they couldn't even wait a minute to check if he was dead? Bai Lang felt utterly dispirited.
Bai Lang was very aware of his faults he knew he had a genius IQ, but sometimes his EQ failed him. During the two years, since Paradise started, Bai Lang made sure to make himself useful to the squad. Since he wasn't a soldier before the end of the world he obviously wasn't as skilled a fighter as everyone else. However, that didn't mean he couldn't fight at all?! Bai Lang fought himself never dragged people down in his group and protected himself with the skills he had acquired from the training Bai Lang received while he was young.
All the studies Bai Lang did while he was young came in handy to. He invented a lot of gadgets with drops of monsters and the new materials which appeared in the world since the start of Paradise. Inventing these things wasn't easy. He almost spends all his time in his room doing research.
Bai Lang had pulled all-nighters trying to research everything about Paradise. The new world rules, the new materials biological and otherwise. Whenever he made a discovery, he made sure to share it with everyone. Bai Lang was sure he didn't lie if he said he was one of the reasons, one of the important reasons, why the group was even still alive today. The gadgets and weapons Bai Lang invented gave the people a fighting chance in the world outside. However even though he shared all his research and his gadgets, these people just left him for dead?! They just left him for dead without taking a minute to check if this was indeed the case. Just thinking about it made him furious.
Bai Lang felt utterly betrayed for two years he was running on fumes too make sure to give everything to a group, who never really seemed to appreciate him much. Bai Lang however just figured he was just imagining things, because of his low self-esteem issues. Bai Lang was aware of his low self-esteem issues which he had struggled with since he was young.
Bai Lang knew he sometimes could imagine people not appreciating him which didn't match with reality, and this was also the result of his low self-esteem issues. So, he figured that was what was happening in the base, therefore he put his doubts aside. He also decided to work harder for the base then he already did. Since he felt guilty for having doubts about his comrades in arms and entertaining the thought that people didn't appreciate him.
Even after eating his dinner and being outside for a few hours Bai Lang was still mad and very dispirited. He felt abandoned by the entire world. He wasn't as furious anymore however and he had calmed down quite a bit. However, he figured sitting outside wouldn't fix the problem. So, he decided to head back to Headquarters and just create an open dialogue with his squad. He didn't know how to face them or how to continue from here. Mitzuki always used to say to him "if you don't know something just ask". So that is what Bai Lang decided to do, because Mitzuki was seldom wrong.
So, although Bai Lang didn't come up with a solution after being away from Headquarters, he did have a plan on what to do when he got back and calmed down a bit. Now he would be able to hold a calm conversation, a few hours ago he definitely wouldn't have been able to do that. So being glad he took that break he went back to Headquarters. Now having returned to calm he figured that his brother gave the command to leave for a reason and he was ready to listen.
Bai Lang's hopes were dashed however when he finally made his way back to headquarters in the evening. When he was standing outside of Headquarters, he saw the building they had made their base. The doors were still closed, but the sentry posts weren't manned. It was also utterly quiet. It was so quiet you would be able to hear a pin drop and you could hear the wind.
Bai Lang standing outside walked inside. Hoping beyond hope what he was thinking wasn't the case. He was however met with disappointment once again. The entire group had moved out without even leaving a note. These people left without leaving any clue or even entertaining the chance that Bai Lang might still be out there. Bai Lang realized his brother and parents thought he was dead since Claire told them he was, but not even leaving a single clue behind about to where the group was going confirmed to Bai Lang that the entire group didn't really care whether he lived or died. Bai Lang burst into tears. He couldn't muster up any rage anymore, he just felt abandoned.
Since the start of Paradise, he had tried not to cry. He knew he was surrounded by soldiers who didn't show their emotion often. Bai Lang didn't want to be considered the weak link, so he always kept a tight leash on his emotions. Now however Bai Lang was bawling his eyes out. Everyone thought he was dead and accepted this as a fact and moved on without any problems. If there was ever a reason to cry, he thought to himself, this is it.
After Bai Lang finished crying, he sat down and looked in front of him in a daze. He didn't know how long he had sat down. What he did know however is that since the group abandoned him, he would abandon them as well. This was the day Bai Lang completely gave up on humanity. All his comrades in arms which he fought side by side with for two years, since the start of Paradise gave up on him, without a second thought. Even his brother for who he still held out hope for didn't seem to care about him. Since they couldn't be trusted nobody could be. From now on he would survive in Paradise alone, never again entrusting his back to someone else.
Bai Lang spoke out loud to give himself courage: "Since they don't care about me, I won't care about anyone else anymore, I don't need anyone else either I will survive Paradise". The only one Bai Lang still held out hope for was his best friend Yao Mitzuki, but was he even still alive? Bai Lang grabbed the dog tags, which still hung around his neck. Bai Lang never took these dog tags of since Mitzuki hung them around his neck.
Bai Lang sobbed and whispered to himself in the empty Headquarters: "Where are you Mitzuki, I need you". Hearing no response Bai Lang decided to get up from the ground and no longer stay here. Bai Lang walked outside. If you could be able to see Bai Lang at that moment you could see his back seemed to be a bit more bent and the vicissitude of life seemed to engulf him. When Bai Lang walked back outside, he seemed to be swallowed up by the darkness.

I felt really bad for Bai Lang here. I just wanted to make Mitzuki appear right next to him. Sadly i couldn't. Be strong Bai Lang!
