Chapter 65: Fortune Favors the Bold!
"Qianjue, congratulations on becoming the youngest Soul Sage in human history," Xue Linglong softly congratulated Du Qianjue as she approached him.
"Congratulations!" Bi Ji also chimed in happily.
Di Tian nodded at Du Qianjue, a faint smile on his face. A human with such talent—it was fortunate that he wasn't an enemy of soul beasts. Otherwise, once he fully matured, even Di Tian might not be his match!
This was the first time Di Tian felt a sense of crisis. Humans had limits; even Limit Douluos had a lifespan of only a few hundred years. As long as they didn't become gods, Di Tian didn't believe any human could defeat him. But today, this confidence was shattered. If Du Qianjue grew to his full potential, even without becoming a god, Di Tian might not be able to defeat him.
Di Tian felt fortunate for choosing to ally with Du Qianjue. In the future, the help Du Qianjue could bring to the soul beast clan would be immense.
Di Tian couldn't help but feel a tinge of hope. He didn't want to be a Beast God; his position was more of a responsibility. Di Tian longed to travel the continent, or break through to god level and explore other worlds.
In later parts of the story, Di Tian's relentless war with humans was due to humans nearly exterminating soul beasts. This period's Di Tian, still powerful and unbeaten, evoked both admiration and pity from Du Qianjue.
The Di Tian of ten thousand years later suffered both physical and mental torment. He had to worry about the survival of soul beasts, seek revenge against humans, and deal with the complex relationship with Gu Yue. Du Qianjue's evaluation of Di Tian was summed up in two words: unlucky pawn.
Du Qianjue wanted nothing to do with the love-struck Gu Yue, even if her condition might affect him.
"Now that you've become a Soul Sage, are you planning to leave?" Bi Ji asked as she approached Du Qianjue. "Do you need me to accompany you?"
Di Tian's smile froze, and an aura of the sea emanated from him again, making the once vibrant Lake of Life feel desolate and barren.
Pain. Too much pain.
"Not yet. There's one more thing I need to do here," Du Qianjue said with a smile, taking out the Evil God Orb from his soul tool. "And I'll need your help for it, Bi Ji."
"This is the orb that appeared on the Evil Demon Tiger before it died?" Bi Ji asked, surprised. "What do you need me to do?"
Di Tian, pulling himself out of his dejected state, turned his attention back, curious about what Du Qianjue planned to do.
Du Qianjue put away the Evil Demon Tiger's body, planning to make a grand cloak out of its skin in the future. The tiger's wings had already become his external spirit bone when he absorbed its spirit ring, forming his second pair of wings instead of merging with his dragon wings.
"I want to use this Evil God Orb to form my second yin-yang complementary soul core. During the process, I'll need you to stabilize my body," Du Qianjue explained, holding the dark orb. "The abundant life force of the Lake of Life should prevent my body from collapsing during the soul core formation. I hope the Beast God won't mind me drawing a bit of life force."
Di Tian's fists clenched slightly, but he reluctantly nodded. "Of course, I don't mind," he said through gritted teeth.
"Thank you, Beast God," Du Qianjue chuckled.
Xue Linglong and Bi Ji smiled knowingly. Who would have thought that a boy not yet thirteen could joke so casually with Di Tian, the Beast God?
"Don't thank me. Just remember your promise after you become a god," Di Tian huffed.
"Rest assured, I won't go back on my word," Du Qianjue replied solemnly. Although he didn't care about the humans or soul beasts of the Douluo Continent, a promise to the soul beast clan was something he would keep.
"I trust you. You can begin forming your soul core now," Di Tian said with a nod.
Du Qianjue looked at Bi Ji, who signaled she was ready. Taking a deep breath, he swallowed the Evil God Orb and placed his hands in front of him, focusing his mind inward.
The orb settled in his lower dantian, floating quietly. Forming the first soul core as an Emperor Soul was already extraordinary. Now, as a Soul Sage, attempting to form a second soul core was almost unheard of.
Du Qianjue had not planned on forming a second soul core so soon. While it wasn't necessary to form a soul core to break through the Titled Douluo or the Limit Douluo stages, it was the easiest path at levels eighty-nine and ninety-eight. Forming a soul core at this stage would significantly enhance his current strength and potential, but it would also make future breakthroughs much more difficult.
However, Du Qianjue wasn't concerned. With his unique talents and the resources at his disposal, he was confident. He was in the Lake of Life, had Bi Ji, the greatest healer, and possessed the Evil Demon Tiger's powerful Evil God Orb.
This was a risky move, but it was worth the gamble. He had multiple powerful soul beasts' essences at his disposal, including Bing Di's if necessary.
With all the resources available to him, Du Qianjue was confident in his success. He decided to take the leap, leaving the rest to the will of the Douluo Star.
The soul core formation began!
