Somniate: Rise of the Faey Queen

If you were given the chance to be queen, will you take it? Red Springfield’s normal life turned upside down with the arrival of a flower boy and a warrior. She was chosen as a candidate to become the next Faey Queen! Vampire? Werewolf? Angels and Demons? Little Mermaid? Tinkerbell? All of them, faeys! Her whole childhood fairytales, down the drain in just one night! A once in a lifetime opportunity was given to her but will Red pursue the treacherous road or will her lack of self-confidence be her downfall? Throw in a dark faey and daemons who messes up the faey queen trials (making her question everything she believes in), and we have one heck of an adventure here. As Red delves deeper into the world of Faeys, she soon discovers that being a queen doesn't always come with a sparkly crown and that love was not even an option for her! But what if her feelings get the better of her? Will she succeed or will the promise of love be more tempting? ========== YUMMY EXCERPT: Red and Ari were lost in the moment of the sweet kiss that they shared. The magical glow of the moss around them created an eerily beautiful contrast of shadows and lights on the two faey’s faces. It was exhilarating, their heartbeats pounding to break free and touch the other. Red’s hand played into Ari’s hair and somehow, her delirious self pressed to deepen what had started to be a delicate kiss. Red’s attack made Ari loose himself and all his self-restraint. Everything that he had convinced himself away from, all thrown out of the window with just Red’s needy touch and wanting mouth. Ari pinned Red to the ground and their bodies were now pressed onto each other, legs intertwined as the elfen warrior cupped the face of his queen. Red was ecstatic, the high of her fever somehow making her heat up and crave for physical contact. Her eyes were closed and rolled as Ari’s lips traced the lines of her jaw, down to her neck, and then up to meet her wanting mouth yet again. Her breath hitched as she felt thousands of butterflies fluttered in her stomach and Ari’s hand unintentionally jerked away thinking he had hurt her. He moved his hand to lean on the ground but had accidentally brushed the belt bag that contained the eldermist berries. A bunch of the berries tumbled out and tiny rolling noises echoed. Suddenly, Ari opened his eyes and realized what had happened. Red’s eyes fluttered momentarily in confusion as Ari ended the kisses and in her dizzy and foolish moment, she too came to grasp the severity of what they had done.

Little Bitch

The young teen opened her palm and out came from her bare hand flowing water that eventually transformed into a firearm.

She aimed above her with one hand and shot at the ceiling as a warning sign.

The bullet made of magic-infused water shot through and disintegrated whatever it had passed.

"Hand it over sister." She told Red, aiming the weapon towards her actual target.

Red had never thought it would go down to this. She wasn't prepared enough to be fighting magical girls who could potentially shoot her dead with a water gun.

Ari on the other hand looked as if he could kill anyone with how protective he was with her.

She noticed how he had quickly jumped between them to shield her from the dangerous pair.

For Ari, he was born for this very moment. He trained and mastered everything that he could learn so that he could protect his queen.

One wrong move by this pair, he swore they will face everything he's got.

The colossal shapeshifter had reconstructed his hands showing an otherworldly display of sharp talons that could tear anything apart like paper towels. His face remained an unrecognizable monster.

Red looked at Ari and then towards the other warrior. She wondered how come these people could possibly be so brave and selfless with protecting someone else's life.

The burning mirror at the desk was slowly dimming behind them and Red thought she didn't want to risk their lives over something so small.

She leaned forward and softly tugged at Ari's frayed sleeves.

"This little thing is not worth all the lives inside this room." she said. "Don't make a move. I'll handle this."

Taking the fully consecrated mirror, she chucked it across the room and the girl caught it perfectly in her tiny hands.

"Take it bitch." She said.

Yes, she gave the item up but that didn't mean she can't insult the other candidate along the way.

Ari stood his ground and continued to be vigilant. He tried to suppress his disbelief at how easily Red had surrendered the item to them but he chose to trust Red and her choices.

Even if he thought how cowardly the move had been.

"You know sister, I really admire your cooperation. The other candidates are miserably failing and here I am easily gaining the one thing that can boost me to queenship." She looked at Red in the eye with a bizarrely golden iris that shone in the dark.

"Maybe if you survive long enough throughout the seven trials, I will make you my handmaid." She mused.

"Yeah, we'll see about that." Red replied. How she wished she had been able to master her magic before all this happened.

If she does survive long enough, she'll definitely make sure this tiny thing regrets her bumptiousness tonight.

"Luca! Let's go trap some moon, shall we?" She ordered the big man. He then proceeded to scoop her up and she sat comfortably in his strong muscled arm like a doll.

She uttered inaudible words and they started to become transparent liquid and gradually dissolved into an unrecognizable pool.

Was that her magic?

"Hey sister, a little parting gift for your service." Her hand emerged from the pool of water and she pointed her weapon towards the ceiling.

The sound of gunfire exploded and a water pipe was hit; her magic-infused bullet turned the clean water into acid which started to rain down on them.

Arikyer shot swiftly from his bow and the arrow carried with it a strong gust of wind. The acid was immediately blown towards the glass walls of the building creating irregularly shaped holes from the splash.

They heard the sound of breaking glasses accompanied by a wicked laugh echoing from above.

"Thank you, Ari." Was all Red could say.

Her legs lost their strength and she collapsed to the floor.

She wasn't expecting to face something as dangerous as that queen candidate and her protector. She had acted brave from the adrenaline rush but now that they have left, she felt her fear creep in.

What if they had fought those two? Could they survive the battle where she was an unexperienced magic user?

"What are you going to do next?" Ari said with a stern voice.

"I don't know Ari. I just felt like it was not worth the fight. I couldn't imagine how I can allow you to fight both of them. It was clearly disadvantageous from my point of view." Red tried to explain.

She heard the disappointment in Ari's voice when he asked her what she was planning next.

Truth be told, she had no idea what she should be doing right now.

Practicing again on another vessel would take too much time.

She looked outside the glass walls that were adorned with holes. She could see the other glass buildings and the moon that was reflected onto it.

And then, an idea struck her genius.
