Axel, the town of the beginner adventurers. It was a place that was well protected by walls along with the military might of the kingdom, combining that with the overall strength of the monsters around the city not being very high, it was the perfect place for the new adventurers to start acclimating experience before going on their journey to defeat the Demon King!
Or that's how it was on the paper.
The truth of the matter on the other hand is that the current population of the Axel was mostly civilians, adventurers who retired or those who were 'just beginning' their adventure for the last few years. In other words, Axel was no longer the town of beginners but the town of noobs.
"At least it has some nice beauties." I muttered to myself as I lightly tapped my shoulder with my magic staff.
Long story short, I kinda died. Then I got recruited to a omniversal slavery company and was then given my own isekai adventure. Pretty standard stuff. Except my destination was kinda chosen for me, that had been kind of a bummer.
Konosuba, an isekai story of humor about a dumb neet and his useless party somehow saving the day in ways that make the main character want to rip his hair off in frustration. That's where I was, except I knew that this world was kind of like High School DxD. A very dangerous death world that covered all of its danger and horror with slapstick humor.
Huh, now that I thought about it, Kazuma and Issei were pretty much equally scummy in their ways. The protagonist of DxD just had been luckier due to the fact that he actually had a cheat power and the girls around him were not useless.
"That's a fun thought." I admitted to myself as I finally reached the guild building of this town and entered, making all the people inside turn their heads because they had nothing better to do.
"Welcome to Axel Adventurer's Guild, I am Luna; how may I help you?" The girl behind the stand asked with a smile and I started to understand why nobody left this stupid town with a blond bombshell like this living here.
"I'm here to join the guild." I said as I pulled a money pouch, I had gotten it after some moron tried to mug me and found his face meeting the ground at an impressive speed.
"Of course, please just wait a moment as I scan your status." She said with a smile as a magic circle appeared on the counter, only for nothing to happen as she frowned and I realized what was happening. My Information Defense, it was getting in the way.
Problem was, I was not sure what could happen if I dropped my defenses in a world with gods. The best case scenario was nothing, worst case was an actually powerful god noticing my presence and coming down to smite me.
I probably should have thought about this possibility before coming here.
Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained, I decided to drop my defense and the magic circle glowed far brighter for a moment before Luna's eyes widened.
"This... I have never seen stats this high from a beginner adventurer!" She cried out, which gathered the attention of the others. "Your intelligence and physical stats are all off the charts and you have a moderately high luck. And I don't believe I saw anyone with this much magical power at level one!" Excited whisperings started to break out among the ranks as she kept talking and I thanked my Templates and Power Swap for their contributions to my stats.
"You can practically take any classes possible!" Luna said with a smile as she handed me a list of the potential classes I could take.
Obviously I crossed out all of the basic classes like Warrior, Mage, Adventurer and Thief. What I really needed was a class that focused both on magic and physical combat in order to make use of my Templates to their full potential. It wouldn't do well to neglect either of those aspects but all the classes seemed to focus on only one thing except for Adventurer class but that one was practically the definition of 'basic bitch' in this world with no bonuses for anything. What I needed was... huh.
"Can you tell me about this Dragon Knight class?"
"Oh, it's one of the advanced classes that requires high intelligence and strength and focuses on both magic and physical combat." Luna started explaining and I could feel a smile growing on my face. "Though it does have the disadvantage of not getting as good results as a Crusader, Arch Wizard or Master Fighter classes as the attributes they focus on. The name is also something of a misnomer since the class doesn't actually have to do anything with dragons." Okay, that last part was something of a bummer but I could still work with this.
"Then I'll be a Dragon Knight then." I said with a smile and my adventurer card was printed soon after, making me ready for adventure!
------------
Giant Toads, the very first enemy practically any adventurer in Axel faces. Considered to be relatively harmless for any adventurer who is not dumb enough to use blunt force attacks against them. They are worth a nice amount of money and are quite delicious when fried.
"RIBBIT!" They also happen to be very huge targets.
"Alright, let's try this." I hyped myself up as I pulled out my staff and pointed its end towards the toad that had just gotten out of the ground. "Zoltraak." And then a black bullet of magic pierced through it's head and made it fall down on it's side, dead.
Guess that meant that my Power Swap worked as intended, thank you Company!
"Kazuma-san!" My thoughts were interrupted by a very annoying sounding shriek coming from nearby followed by heavy thumping noises. Having a rough idea what this was, I casted a flying magic on myself and went towards the noise where I found a scene just about what I expected to be.
A little girl in mage clothes lying down on the grass face first and seeming uncaring about the approaching Giant Toad, a much more mature looking girl with blue hair and blue clothes running away from a chasing Giant Toad all the while crying and finally a dude in a green tracksuit chasing after the said Giant Toad with a sword in hand.
Except the 'dude' in question seemed to have far longer hair then I would expect and the front of 'his' chest seemed to be moving up and down as 'he' ran after the monster.
"Aqua, you idiot!" And a far more feminine voice than I would expect.
