“You’re important,” James said.
“I know whyyou have to go. I’m just ready for a normal weekend with you.”
“Soon, I promise, and I’ll come back here as soon as I can.”
Chris smiled as he slid his fingers through James’s hair. “Any chance I could convince you to call in?”
“Possibly.” James rolled Chris onto his back, then lightly kissed him. “I can’t, though. Today’s going to be a big day and I need to be there.”
“Do you have time to eat first?”
James scrunched up his face. “Depends on what it is?”
“Well,” Chris said as he slid his hands down James’s back, “there’s a bag of frozen chicken and some vegetables, which is more than you had at your place.”
James smiled. “I promise to do better.”
“You’re wonderful.”
“Don’t worry about fixing anything.” James looked at him a moment, then smiled and let out a deep breath. “I’ve really got to go to work.” James threw back the covers and then headed into the bathroom.
