Joining the Ranks!

In a small town of 300 villagers there was currently a wonderful festival currently happening, lights and candles lit up the dismal looking town making it look quite extravagant for where it was.

The empty streets were filled with people talking to one another, young people were on dates, and their fathers were out drinking!

In front of a stand that sells raw fish Jake suddenly appeared in front of it and fell flat onto his butt.

Ow.. Why did it have to send me off like that? Anyway.. I should first gather some information about where I currently am, also being that I have no jobs I should default as a beginner.

Jake began to walk around and annoy random villagers by interrupting their conversations and asking them if they had any information to tell him, by doing this he learned two things.

The first thing he learned is that he was currently in a small village called Hedora and it was apart of a Kingdom called the Shadowless Kingdom, the war that happened that Jake assisted in happened a day ago and word quickly spread about the appearance of skills and jobs. Both the Moon Kingdom and the Sun Kingdom temporarily put on a truce due to the fact that they simultaneously lost their elite troops, as the Shadow Kingdom was quite near them, it was obvious fighting anymore would lead to both of them being swallowed up.

Very interesting.. Well now that I'm here I may as well join one of the armies, this would make it a lot easier for me to learn more about this world. If there are powerful monsters there'd surely be an order to subjugate some of them, as well as people.

Jake walked over and asked a man in a large overcoat where he would be able to find the recruiting area.

"You want to join the Army? Look at you! You have no power at all and look like you're level one!" The man began to laugh with the surrounding people as he attempted to embarrass Jake.

Wow.. yeah I'm going to remember you when I'm creating classes.. I'm going to curse you for sure.

"Look.. just point me into the direction?" Jake asked with an annoyed tone, in response to this the man huffed and gave him directions, Jake thanked him and went on his way.

If I knew the people in this world were meaner than I thought then I would've made things difficult for everybody.. I'm quite petty.

Jake smiled and finally reached the area he was looking for after going through a large crowd of people on the streets!

The recruitment area was currently set up in the tavern in an attempt to recruit one of the many people going in and out during the festival, it was set up much like a lemonade stand but instead of lemonade they wanted to contractually enslave people for a few years.

Jake walked up to the stand and approached a man who was wearing a light version of plate armor who was currently sitting down behind the stand in a chair, the man carefully looked up to see who walked up only to see a scrawny wimpy looking young kid.

"What do ya want? I'm busy. This isn't a place for a child, go play outside." The man said and looked the other way after shooing Jake.

"I was actually interested in joining the army.. " Jake replied as he scratched his head.

The mans eyes widened and he began laughing and slapped the table.

"You? YOU? Don't waste my time."

"Okay.. just sign me up alright? Quit being so difficult.. I get I look weak but that can change as I adapt to the situation! Just give me a chance!" Jake shouted out in response and cupped his hands at the man.

The man put his hand on his chin and began to stroke it, for a while he was in deep thought of whether or not he wanted to send this young kid to his death and he finally decided.

If the young man wants to die early.. it's up to him. He asked for this and he will get it.

"Alright here's the contract, read through it or not I don't care, just hurry up and sign."

Jake skimmed through it without caring much as he'd leave after a week anyway and soon, he signed the contract.

"Alright here's the schedule for now, missing a week of training will result in execution due to the terms stated that you signed"

He handed Jake a paper showing when and where the trainings will be held and the closest timing was tomorrow at 9 am in the kingdom's arena.

The man smiled as Jake left and walked out.

I better get as much training in now before I get killed tomorrow, I don't know how intense it will be after all or what we're going to be doing..

Jake bought a wooden sword at a stand and walked up to a lone hill and began swinging the sword, one of the things he had created was the skill Sword Mastery, capable for all jobs to learn and train. Of course, he had to put quite a lot of effort in to train otherwise it wouldn't be balanced!

There were many sub branches of sword mastery and hidden branches but Jake was just going to practice the basic ones he had set up, the basics went up to level 50 and at the max level it was capable to slice open mountains like it was butter.

As Jake swung his sword in the night he was approached by a group of men, it was the same ones he had asked for directions earlier.

The man in the overcoat yelled up to Jake.

"Look at this idiot! He got denied by the army so he's training! What a fool, your young years of talent have already been wasted, there is no way for you to catch up now!" The man beside him laughed at this remark.

Jake was drenched in sweat and just looked down at him with a side glance before he continued on to practice.

In his mind Jake had a plan, he would not only be a god of skills but a hero or villain in the mortal plain, this way he'd be able to understand the people more and the pains of training, his journey was just about to begin.
