They left their clothes on the floor, almost like a trail that traced to their bed where they were kissing ever since they entered the room. Hans began kissing her everywhere as she removed his shirt. Pulling something out of his pocket, he revealed a pink pack of condom. She pushed and sat on top of him, ripping the pack with her teeth and her hands began trailing down his zipper. Fiddling it, she was about to unzip when the door suddenly burst open.
"Hey, what's the WiFi pass-AYYY BASTOS!" Brendan shrieked as they immediately covered themselves. He covered his eyes, trying to close the door. "Hindi... ako yung bastos, hindi kayo! Ano yung password kasi?"
"Putangina naman." Hans muttered, standing up. "It's on the corkboard!"
"Sorry, sorry, thanks." Brendan closed the door, then singing. "Don't touch my birdie! Resist temptation, please!"
"Gago!" Hans shouted.
"Well, that was embarrassing." She said, dressing herself as Hans picked up their clothes.
"What time is it?" He asked.
She reached out for her phone beside her but grabbed Hans' instead. The screen lit up just in time for her to see a text message.
Unknown number: hoy panget! kamusta?
"Hey, what time is it?" He asked again.
She just closed his phone, feeling a pang in her chest. "It's 1."
"Brendan, you told me you were going at 3!" Hans scolded as he walked out of the room, taking his phone.
As Hans left the room, she felt dumb for not even saying anything.
Sabado Oktobre 20, 2018 (1:35 PM)
She dipped her legs in the water, still thinking about the text she saw. Hans was already swimming in the pool while Brendan just stayed close to the stairs as he fiddled with Hans' guitar, reluctant on taking a dip as he's afraid of swimming. Getting bored, she went back to the kitchen to check the rice cooker only to realize that she forgot to turn it on.
"Oh, shit..." She muttered.
The rice was soggy and beyond repair, and her stomach was already rumbling. She almost shrieked when she felt hands on her shoulders. She rolled her eyes when she saw Hans.
"Can you stop doing that?" She brushed off his hands.
"Sorry, didn't mean to." He apologized, then seeing the rice cooker. "Oh, shit."
Not in a mood for a conversation, she walked away back to the living room and opened her phone.

"Hey, what's up with you?" Hans asked, sitting beside her.
"Nothing." She answered simply. "Just hungry and all."
"There's a carinderia nearby, what you want?" He asked, getting no response from her. "You... want me to drive to the nearest Jollibee or what? I'll get you something you like."
"Bahala ka." She said grumpily.
"Okay, at least tell me what the problem is."
"No..." She refused. "You tell me what the problem is."
Hans shrugged. "Well... the rice got ruined and we're already starving."
"Diyos ko po..."
"I'm not a mind-reader, Adriana." He said. "That's the problem. You always expect me to remember everything I do, and when I ask you why you're mad you leave me guessing."
"It's not that hard, Hans." She said, completely in disbelief.
She turned around, not wanting to see him. Then the cycle went on again: she's mad, he get's mad, she ignores him, and he says sorry, but somehow, she finds herself comforted once he hugged her.
"I'm sorry." He whispered, though he doesn't even know why he was sorry.
"It's... it's okay." She said, getting defeated once again.
"Guys?" Brendan called out, peeking from the kitchen. "We have guests."
"Guests?"
"Happy birthday!" Two familiar guys entered the room, carrying a bunch of food.
"What are you guys doing here?" Hans asked laughingly. "It's not even my birthday."
Hans' football teammates.
"Just kidding, this is an apology for kicking the ball too hard and hitting your face..." The taller boy then put the food on the table.
"He felt like an asshole, seriously." The smaller one added. "Though, it's already given."
The three boys laughed while she just sat there, feeling isolated and betrayed. Hans noticed her getting quiet again.
"By the way, this is my girlfriend, Adriana." Hans introduced her. She just smiled and waved at them. "This is Jomar, or Joms, the idiot who kicked the ball too hard. And this is Caleb, I think he's from Batangas too."
"I'm from Ilocos Norte." Caleb corrected.
"Hey, they brought beer!" Brendan announced happily as he entered the room with several bottles.
Adriana crossed her arms in compete disappointment. She grasped Hans' hand. "Can we talk for a moment?"
"I know this is completely out of plan, but Brendan joked that he'll invite my teammates over so we can just drink last practice's fiasco off, but I didn't expect he could do it." He explained rather poorly. "He... he also wanted to meet them so..."
"This is what Brendan wants, have you even asked what I want?" She looked at him straight in the eye, he avoided it. "I just want some time of us alone, is it that hard?"
"I'm sorry." He said, then looking at his friends who seem to have heard their argument. "If you want... we can go out now and be back by night."
She looked at his friends and felt embarrassed all of a sudden, be that or completely overpowered. "No, we can stay."
Hans smiled and kissed her on the forehead. "I promise we'll have time together later."

They went back to the pool area as they waited for Hans and Caleb to buy some food. Brendan was still trying hard with the guitar while Joms swam around. Her stomach was already rumbling, and she couldn't help get envious of her friends' time in EK.
"What are you trying to play?" Joms asked.
"Lucky by Jason Mraz." Brendan replied.
"That song's gay." Joms scoffed.
"No, it's not." Brendan retorted. "What chord does it start again?"
"It starts with the G."
"Okay."
"Then A."
"Okay... wait, that doesn't sound right."
"Then Y."
"How do you do the chord Y... oh, fuck you."
Joms laughed while Brendan just went to her with the guitar. He sat beside her.
"You really want to be friends with people like that." Adriana sighed.
"Well, Hans' friends are also my friends." Brendan said. "It's a good thing he's not quitting the football team 'cos I'm also planning to join them next sem."
"Yeah, you should probably join a sports team or something." She suggested. "I'm glad he managed to make friends in his team."
"Yeah..." Was all Brendan could say.
There was a brief moment of silence. "Can I ask you something? About Hans."
"Sure." Brendan gulped and nodded.
"Is he still texting with Evelyn?"
He looked at her, suddenly unsure if he should answer. "Promise me you won't tell him."
"I promise."
They saw Hans arrive with the food and approaching them. Brendan lowered his voice. "A bit... only a bit."
That's what all she needed to hear. Hans sat beside them, he reeked of cigar. "What were you trying to play? You're stuck with my guitar ever since."
"I'm trying Lucky by Jason Mraz."
"Easy."
Hans then suddenly held his hand, placing Brendan's fingers on the right frets using his. He began strumming it, placing Brendan's hands over the chords. Adriana just sat there, stomach grumbling and heart raging from what she had just heard.
"Lucky I'm in love with my best friend, lucky to have been where I have been..." Hans sang.

They finished eating a while ago but no one bothered to do the dishes. Adriana sighed at the sight of the dishes and began washing them. When she was done, she headed back to the living room where she could hear that they already started drinking.
"Hmmm... if she's your girlfriend then who's that sexy chick you sat next to when we were in the jeep?" Joms asked laughingly.
"Ulol, pakyu."
The moment she stepped inside, they all went quiet and just continued pouring their beer.
"What?" She asked, sitting on the sofa. "You suddenly went quiet."
"We're just talking about our first game." Hans replied.
"Okay..." She just opened her phone and began scrolling through Facebook.
It was getting late and they were still drinking. Hans opened another bottle, and she could see that there were already several bottles on the floor. She tried to sleep, but they were too loud. She didn't want to leave the room, getting paranoid from what she heard a while ago.
Getting irritated, she spoke. "Are you going to be drinking the whole day?"
"You can drink with us." Joms offered.
"I don't drink." She replied, then looking at Hans. "Hans?"
Sighing, Hans approached her. "Sorry, I forgot. Do you want to go out?"
"Go out? You're drunk."
"We can go out later."
"Yeah, when is later? When you've finished up the whole case of beers?"
"Okay, I'll stop drinking now." Hans said, sitting beside her and leaning his head on her shoulders.
She wanted to feel comfort, but he wanted to calm her down again. Nothing was working though; all she could feel was rage.
"Hey, let's play a game! Anyone knows Umbrella Party?" Joms asked drunkenly. "So, we're gonna go to Boracay, and you'll bring something. It depends on your answer if you're in or nah."
"Whatever, man." Caleb said, drinking a straight glass.
"Okay, majority wins." Joms said. "So, I'm going to Boracay and I'll bring um... uh a hot girl from the dance club!"
Nobody reacted.
"Okay, I'm going. How about you, Caleb?"
"This is stupid." Caleb sighed. "Um... nothing?"
"He's going!" Joms clapped. "Brendan?"
"Urgh..." Was all Brendan could say, already half-asleep and flushed red.
"We'll skip Brendan for now. Hans?"
"Um..." Hans chuckled. "I'm bringing Adriana."
"He's going! And you?"
"I'm bringing Evelyn." She replied seriously, getting a fazed look from Hans. "And I will sit beside her in the jeep."
Silence once again reigned, but this time she was obviously angry. Brendan even woke up fully from her answer.
"Who's Evelyn?" Joms asked drunkenly.
"Okay, what the hell was that for?" Hans stood up.
"I don't know, Hans. Maybe I'm the one who's supposed to ask that?" She stood up too, crossing her arms. "Why are you texting with Evelyn? You know she treats me like shit!"
"Tangina naman, her brother prints t-shirts and we ordered from them for our team!" Hans explained but she was having none of it.
"Why were you keeping this as a secret from me?!"
"Because I know you'd react like this! You're mad all the time and you want me to tell you that?"
"Mad? Maybe it's because you're always giving me reasons to be mad! When you're mad, I always try to comfort you, but when I'm mad, you're also mad!"
"Well, of course I'm mad this time! I go around sorting things out for you to enjoy your day with me and our friends thinking you're okay, but you're not!"
"Our friends?" She scoffed. "These are YOUR friends. My friends are out there having the time of their lives while I'm stuck here with a shit ton of strangers and with you texting Evelyn behind my back!"
"You just met them, Adriana!" He reasoned poorly. The was the final straw.
"You know what? Fuck you!" She said, tears forming in her eyes. She stormed back to her room.
"Adriana!" Hans called out as she slammed the door shut. "God..."
Sabado Oktobre 20, 2018 (3:13 PM)
She began packing her things, tears falling out of her eyes as Hans opened the door. She ignored him as she closed her bag. She was about to leave when Hans locked the door.
"Can we just talk?" Hans said, pleading. "Please?"
"Yeah, talk..." She said, wiping her tears. "I'm going home."
"C'mon, babe... this isn't you." He said. "We used to be happy all the time?"
"Maybe you're right? This isn't me anymore, that's why you don't like me." She said angrily. "You only like me when I'm happy, and lately you're a completely different person when you're with your friends or when I'm not in the mood."
"I... I'm not-"
"You've changed too... because before you never lied to me." She said, feeling the tears again. "I'm sorry, but I can't take this anymore. We should just..."
She hesitated for a moment, her voice getting hoarse. "... we should just break up."
He looked at her straight in the eye, hoping it was just a joke or just a stupid choice, but he soon gave up. "If it's for the better."
He left her after that, and he found herself crying again. She carried her bag and headed outside, seeing Hans propped up his car and waiting for her. Their eyes met, but she just shook her head and started walking away.
