Hayford looked at her for some time before he picked a small piece of the bread and brought it to her mouth. Elaine held her breath, trying to avoid that putrid smell of raw eggs. She opened her mouth and accepted the piece, still with her breath held. But surprisingly, it didn't taste as bad as she had expected.

"It tastes... okay." She said with a slight frown due to her surprise. She expected some slimy feeling in her mouth which never came.

"Really?" Hayford tilted his head, eyeing her. She nodded in response.

"It is. Surprisingly. Haha." She chucked.

"Want some more then?"

"Nah. I'll pass." She quickly said and Hayford chucked.

"Okay. Finish your food." He said.

She resumed eating but paused halfway and turned to him with her eyes wide open.

"Wait, shouldn't you be in school?" God! She overslept and got him late.

"Don't worry. I called and informed them that I may be late."
