41. The Immortal Iguana

Hoseki ran fast to extraction point. He activated his camouflage vest as he was moving in invisible. Suddenly he stopped. He was breathing heavily as his heart was shaking. The feeling on killing people for the first time was really a bad one. However, compared to the important of his mission, he swallowed up the bad feeling to continue moving.

He looked at his left hand which was still shaking in pain from the explosion.

Back then, after eating his healing pills, his hand recovery was multipled. But as he had to kept fighting the fake Fero, his shoulder injuries and elbow were failed to recover but turning worse. They were in very bad conditions.

Hoseki popped up another pill and continued to run.

Upon reaching the extraction point Hoseki saw a fight was happened. Hera and his chunin were having a hard time against some Kumo's shinobi. Hoseki also saw two another persons which he assume as his target to be saved. A girl was heavily injured while another person was protecting her. And far from them, there a shinobi was fighting a group by himself

Standing on a tree in invisible, Hoseki was looking for enemies leader for him to sneak in and kill him in one shot.

Hoseki realised that he only had one shot as he might caught red handed afterwards. So he need to use it carefully.

After locating the leader, Hoseki sneaked behind him. He waited for the man to let his guard down and stabbed his head.

As Hoseki realised that no one noticed that the enemy leader was killed, he moved away fast to the nearest enemy to kill him.

As the second victim fell down , someone realised of what was happening.

"Who?"

After the enemies shouted, the fight was halted as both side confused of what had happened. They founded that their leader was killed. After considering the situation, Kumo were backing of in cautious.

Hoseki didn't move from his spot silently. He closed his eye and linked it to... An iguana.

After leaving Raido, Hoseki summoned an iguana and left it on a tree on his route.

If anyone look on the head on the iguana, they will found a seal was stamped. This seal was the fruit from months of experiments Hoseki held on the iguanas.

When Hoseki got the iguanas as a reward, he found that the iguanas had no useful used except using his immortality to stay alive and sleep. Stabbed it, crushed it with big stone, poisoned it, burnt it and even stuff it with explosive didn't kill them. They were just... Immortal.

They weren't that durable but they cannot die. They did exploded when the explosion accursed. But the part of the bodies and organs that separated, were jointed together immediately after the explosion. After that they just closed their eyes to sleep as if they had accepted their fate.

So, Hoseki was thinking of what should he do with it. Then, he got the idea of creating a seal to communicate with them. And the results of months of experiments were a failure as the iguanas ignored all his attempted to communicate.

But one day, an incident occurred when he accidentally connect the seal and his system link with the Iguanas to communicate with him. It resulted for him to get a vision from the iguanas eyes and hearing ability from the iguanas when he was connected to them. The most important point was that he could order the iguana to move towards any direction he wanted.

Hoseki opened his eyes after saw a silhouette he wanted to see from the iguanas.

"Hera san. Our plan was exposed. The Fero san who stayed with us was an imposter." Standing on a tree Hoseki shouted.

After some period of halting the fight, the shinobis were ready to continue the fight as the suddenly heard Hoseki shouted.

Hera and other shinobi turned to Hoseki hearing his voice.

Hera understood the dread of the situation hearing the new information. He understood why they were immediately surrounded the moment they met up with the person they supposed to rescue.

He had imposter in his team.

"Hoseki? What are you doing here?" A voice coming out from far.

Hoseki recognised the voice as it was Sakumo voice. It turned out, their mission was to rescue Sakumo and his teammates.

Sakumo walked by after the Kumo's stopped attacking him.

"Uncle. I was sent on a mission to rescue . And that person we supposed to save are you guys? " Hoseki explain his situation.

" Anyways, I already informed Shikaku sensei about this. I think he will be here soon."

Suddenly they felt someone was approaching. The Kumo's second leader was alerted and ordered his subordinate to retreated and waited for their reinforcement to come. They retreat and stopped far from them while kept their watch on Hoseki and the group from far.

Shikaku arrived.

While the situation was a bit cool down, Shikaku knew that the danger was far from over. They were still on enemy territory.

Shikaku was making a plan as soon as Raido reported to him about the exposed plan. After sending Raido and his teammates to another route as he could not afford to bring them with him.

Along the way, he planned another route to escape and prepare for unexpected situation.

Seeing no one else coming after Shikaku arrived, Kumo shinobi launch another attack and chased after Konoha group.

Shikaku briefly explained his plan while they moved out after being chased by Kumo's shinobi. They were running throughout the day and arrived at a cave at night.

While Shikaku and his group enter the cave, Kumo's shinobi waited at the entrance as they didn't know what was waiting for them in the cave. On the other side, Shikaku also had prepared many trap on the entrance to stop Kumo's shinobi from following them.

Shikaku passed out the talismans that he get from Hoseki to his teammates except for Hoseki as he was very sure this cunning student of his, had one on his own. Shikaku briefly told them about the talismans asked them to activate them and followed him.

Suddenly a smoke came out of the entrance of the cave and spreading out towards the Kumo's shinobi.

A sensor shinobi immediately focused his sense only to find that the trace of Konoha shinobi was vanished.
