The flowers bloomed in youth, the birds chirping happily. As the tree's soft leaves fall from its home. As I, Diana Arigt, lay on this hospital bed, hoping for my recovery. The days of endless pain followed me like a lost prey.
The nurses unable to deal with my painful screams, the doctors unable to treat me well. 'What is happening to me?!' I asked over and over again, but still haven't got the answer I needed.
Each night, I would stare blankly at the open window, as the skies turn grey-ish, watching the raindrops fall together. "I wanna go back home..." I muttered.
As my sight slowly darkened, my eyes finally closing to sleep. A foggy dream widened my sight. Children were running around, faceless. I could see my mother too. I stared blankly at my mother's pale face, still alive and happy. I could only imagine.
As I turn my head around, I could see my twin sister curling up and crying. I kneeled down, reaching my hand towards her. As I touched her soft cheeks, she slowly faded away.
I tried to catch up to her decaying ashes. "...Adeline.." I whispered. The atmosphere suddenly darkened, as my sight blurred the entire scenery. I looked back and fourth, everyone disappeared... and so did my mother. My hand twitched, as I finally opened my eyes. "I'm awake." I said.
A sudden creak interrupted my morning, "Ah--! I'm sorry...", I turned my head, to see it was the Nurse. "I'm so sorry, Miss..! You must have been sleeping," she approached me with a nervous look, my eyes staring onto her shining necklace, "...You must like the design."
I flinched as the nurse placed my breakfast on the table beside my bed. "Do you want it?", I stared blankly onto the necklace again, and gave no answer. "...I'm sorry, I must have suddenly said something so random. Ahem--.. Your food."
She slowly stood up from the seat and walked away, she closed the door and gave me a smile before she left.
I slid both my legs off the bed and looked at the warm soup the nurse had prepared for me. "...I hate soup." I mumbled. I decided to eat it nonetheless. As I drank one spoon of the soup, the door creaked open, I looked to see whom was going to enter. There was no one.
I slowly stood up, but knew I couldn't. So I tilted my head to see who was at the door. All I could see was plain darkness. I blinked once, and the door was closed already. No sound no vibration, no reaction time. I was confused, I brushed it off and continued to drink my soup.
3 Hours had passed, one of the nurses came in and told me that it was time for the massage. I nodded. 30 minutes had passed, and the nurse bowed goodbye. This time, the door didn't close. I tried to open my mouth to say that the door wasn't closed, but decided not to. As a result of my pause, the cold wind got inside my warm hospital room.
After 5 minutes of shaking, one person closed the door. I flinched as I perked my head up to see who did it. "You must have felt chilly, are you feeling alright, now?"
I straightened my back, "...Who...are you?" I asked quietly. The patient grinned, "I'm just a stranger." She casually replied. I turned my head to my side as I struggle to say anything. The patient chuckled, "I just found your door fully opened, and the cold could worsen your condition, you know?"
I turned my head to my front, making eye contact towards the still patient, "How.. do you know about my... condition?" I asked.
She giggled, her voice stuck in my head as I sat there waiting for her answer. She looked at me smiling even more wider, "I mean, you're a patient right? The cold bothers anyone who's sick."
I did nothing but stare at her, nothing to say. The door creaked open behind, "I'm sorry, Miss! I forgot to clo--"
Both the patient and me turned to statues as soon as the nurse went in, "Y-you don't have to apologize.." I said in spite.
The nurse looked at the patient with a blank face, "Your friend..?" The nurse asked. I thought of a different question, but in reply I said, "Yes.."
The patient looked at me with a casual look. As if she was expecting a much more different answer. I scoffed, and the nurse walked away. As I sigh in relief, my expression suddenly turns plain as the view of my hand shaking made me remember the sight of my mother aiding my injured hand back in the days.
My imagination ended as someones hand waves infront of my sight. "Are you.. okay??"
I turned my head to my side, "A-ah--, Yeah." I replied.
The patient waved goodbye, as she closes the door. I lay back down on my bed. Staring at the ceiling with my eyes unable to blink. The voice of a stranger suddenly appeared inside of my dreams. The faceless patient covered in blood.
The blood spreads over the floor, as I stepped back. I woke up, all sweaty and breathing for air. I got up and looked around my surroundings. I found no one but myself. I began to feel dizzy, a sharp headache made me lie back down my bed. I struggled to breath as the nurse suddenly barged in, calling the doctor.
Everything was blurry, everything was white. As my eyes slowly opened, I found myself in an Emergency room. As the foggy air filled my blurry sight.
I looked at the blurry window, I widened my eyes as to see my own sister. Calling for my name, I struggled to breath more and more, as the hallucination felt more and more real. A tear rolled on my pale face, I blinked once and the hallucination was gone. I closed my eyes as my oxygen slowly turned to a horizontal line. The doctors panicked as they prepare the Biphasic defibrillator.
My eyes still closed as the sudden darkness turned into a whole scenery of memories... The doctors struggled, as I walked across my cycle of memories inside my head. And I remembered that day... the day I first got into the hospital.
