Susan bought the earliest flight with the money she had taken to New York after conversation with Alex. He had said that he might be busy when she landed in New York. So he gave Susan his address and told his roommate will be there.
He had said," My roommate knows that my friend is coming to town and would stay with us for sometime. He might be home at your arrival but if he isn't, the key under the Buddha statue beside the door."
It had already been a couple of hours since she left the house.
Susan was still a bit terrified to think about her husband finding her but she knew that by the time he found out about her leaving the house, she would probably be in New York. That made her somewhat relaxed as no one knew about Alex's identity except her father and even then it might take her father sometime to come to the realisation that she had asked Alex for help.
She was already on the flight while she was thinking this.
She dozed off as the fatigue caught up with her. She hadn't slept all night and she only awoke when the plane was landing.
She looked out the window and saw the dazzling and bright city of New York. She wasn't at all surprised to see that her friend had chosen this city as his place of residence as it suited his personality. She remembered that he always wanted to be here and he always talked about New York with a starry-eyed look on his face.
