Shatter the Bad Ending!

[Restore The Crown] This was the novel that I was tasked to review as a contestant for our yearly webnovel event and as someone who had to probably read hundreds of novels by now. It was utter garbage, it was full of overdone tropes and cliches that you could have seen from a mile away. A bland and mary sue protagonist ✓ A list of heroines who fall in love and become obsessed with the protagonist instantly ✓ A myriad of villains who have no other personality other than to hate and try to kill the protagonist ✓ They were all there. Except for the surprisingly catchy title, there was no other positive thing about this novel. But was pissed me off the most was the ending. With no build-up and seemingly out of nowhere, most of the heroines were killed and the world that they lived in became hell on earth. It was literally revealed in a couple of chapters and was clearly done just to shock the readers. Honestly, I wish I could restore the time I wasted reading this novel. But as I said my criticism to the author. The f*cker shot me in the head! (I proofread my chapters by myself, sadly I am only human, so if you find any mistakes, kindly point them out and I will fix them as soon as possible) (This is my first attempt at writing novels, to those who keep on reading despite the occasional mistakes here and there, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I will promise to be a better author, anyways have a nice day and please never build galeforce on twitch, if you do, you don't deserve 8 hours of sleep, that is all, thank you)

Slumbering Sword (3)

I ran like hell,

I could have blinked in and carried Millia out of there but Reynold must have his sword.

Without it, he would have no chance of fighting the future villains and monsters.

And if the protagonist dies, this world ends, a lot of people will die but most importantly, I won't be able to get back home.

With my life literally depending on it I forced my legs to move.

The student lounge is quite far but luckily there's a transit stop nearby.

*****

"Say, ahhhh,"

"Damn!, that's actually delicious, Xayah,"

"Fu, fu,"

"I cooked that you know?"

"Damn, you're future husband will definitely be a lucky man,"

"He sure will be," I say as I looked at Reynold intently.

"Can I have some more?"

"Sure!,"

I hand Reynold the meal I packed in a box,

As he ate it voraciously, I utter a smile.

Tonight was very peaceful,

We were the only students left in the lounge.

Wait, can this be considered a date?

I look back Rey,

His blonde hair and dark eyes perfectly suited his face, but what were my eyes staring at.

Was his chiseled jawline,

It made me blush as I look,

"You okay, Xayah, why is your face red?"

"Oh, it-it's nothing,"

The only problem was he was such a dense man,

But I can work around that,

I soon lay my back on the chair,

I wish this would last a little bit longer, but the curfew is about to be enforced in an hour.

Well, we can always do this again tomorro-

Reynold and I were slightly startled by the sound of someone screaming,

"GUYS!,"

We looked at the source of the sound,

And a fellow student was running towards us,

He had a dark shade of skin, black hair, with eyes the color of the soil.

Wait, I recognize him, he was one of Wyatt's friends,

As I got a clearer look,

Oh, he was also the one who sang yesterday,

I utter a smile as I remembered but that soon got off my face as he got close.

As he reached us he was breathing heavily and his hands were on his knees.

"Gu-guys,"

Reynold immediately stood up and supported him,

"You okay, man?"

"The-There's something going on in the cathedral,"

Reynold and I looked at each other,

"What do you mean?"

"The guards were passed out for some reason, and I felt some sort of disgusting aura,"

Reynold then closed his eyes,

And after a while,

He opened them and a serious voice came out of him,

"I can feel it,"

"Feel what?" No matter what I did, I couldn't feel the aura Reynold was saying.

"Sorry, Xayah, I have to go, Carry him to the clinic and call the teachers,"

"No-no, I'm fine, I'll just sit over here,"

As the man sat down on a chair, I ran to find a teacher, while Reynold went to the cathedral.

What the hell is happening?

*****

As I watch them go their separate ways, I instantly stopped breathing heavily.

Cotton, how close is Millia now?

*CHIRP* *CHIRP*

Sh*t, she was halfway there,

I got up and became faint once again,

I have 4 blinks left, time to use them all,

I started teleporting all over the campus, trying my best to get back to the cathedral, and in about a minute I finally reached it.

I used my last blink to get back to the balcony once again,

Millia was now climbing up the stairs beside the platform,

Come on, Reynold.

Come on,

She finally got to the stage,

The sword shook violently, if it had a mouth I could definitely say that it was drooling in anticipation.

But then the entrance was bust open,

Reynold like a bull charged in,

"MILLIA!?,"

He was visibly shocked as he saw Millia,

But the girl still didn't gaze away from the sword.

The sword seeing Reynold let out an intense aura, it was full of dread and despair.

[Mind of the Murderer has been activated]

But me and Reynold, stood indifferent from its terror.

He then ran, to hopefully grab Millia before she got close to the greatsword,

But she was now an inch away from its handle.

In a couple of seconds, she would now be turned to its vessel.

A carcass, a husk, a thing.

A puppet with malice imbued in its strings.

A Death Knight,

No matter how fast Reynold would run here, he would not be able to make it.

But I am a machine, with my hardware thinking rapidly.

A solution soon came into my emotionless mind.

Cotton, Maggie, Mcfly.

*CHIRP?*

Push Millia away,

*CHIRP*

They soon flew together, with Cotton in the middle and Mcfly and Maggie by his side.

They swooped in,

"Wha- Are those crows?"

Reynold had his mouth wide open as he saw crows appear from above.

But then soon, the feathered fowls soon got close to Millia,

With the force of 3 crows centered on her chest,

*CRASH*

She was sent back, no longer close to the sword.

The sword shook violently before,

It was angry, it was furious.

Reynold wasted no time and got up the stage.

He checked on Millia,

"Re-Reynold?"

Millia was snapped out by the control of the sword.

"Are you okay, Millia?"

But before they could converse any further,

The sword was vibrating, its chains were breaking one by one.

Reynold then got up,

He slowly walked towards the rumbling rage within the blade.

"REYNOLD, NO! DON'T TOUCH IT,"

Reynold didn't listen and with both of his hands grabbed the handle of the greatsword.

Veins of blood then came out of the sword and pierced through Reynold's skin.

His black eyes were turning red,

But then he opened his mouth,

"Beyond the sky, the sun shines upon sinners and saints, against the darkness of the cold cosmos, its burning light stands tall,"

The sword shook violently, and Reynold's eyes, nose, and ears were bleeding.

"For your radiance cleanses all that who breathes, all that who lives,"

The sword was trying its best to get out of Reynold's grasp but he tightened his grip even further.

"This sword has taken many, this blade has gutted many souls!

"Aether, God of Radiance, hear the toll of my heart,"

"AND PURGE THIS BLADE ANEW,"

A ray of light soon pierced through the window behind the sword.

It shined upon the cursed blade.

It was healing Reynold's wounds and the veins of blood were burned instantly.

A despicable scream came out,

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,"

The malice and rage beneath it were being absolved.

Soon a blinding light enveloped the cathedral, and I closed my eyes instantly.

As I slowly open them, the sword stuck on the ground was now free from its chains.

It stood tall, Its bloodstained blade was now pure.

Reynold and Millia were now passed out on the ground.

I look back at the greatsword,

Its past name no longer fitted it.

It beamed with holy light making it be called in the future.

The Blade of Radiance,

Though I know beneath that benevolent glow hides the raging hatred of an archdemon.

It is time to snuff it out for good.
