In a desolate street, devoid of any current activity and dimly illuminated by a malfunctioning streetlight, there stood a timeworn bungalow house by the roadside. About the structure, there was nothing particularly remarkable, save for the possibility that if one were to listen attentively, they might discern faint sounds emanating from within.
After some time passed, the metallic front door of the residence swung open, and five individuals emerged. Each of them was dressed in somber black garments, shrouding their forms with hooded attire, and their faces concealed behind masks designed for burglars, leaving only their eyes exposed.
Among this group, it was easy to identify Devon, Malik, the two identical twins, and Kelly. After a brief period of deliberation regarding their plan, the group collectively resolved to undertake a covert disguise.
"Could someone please remind me why we find ourselves in these clothes?" inquired Devon the moment he emerged alongside the others.
One of the identical twins, with a face filled with fury, retorted, "Do you have a memory like a sieve?"
"Are you sure he won't mess things up for us?" the twins asked Malik, their eyes fixed on him.
After a moment of silence, Malik contemplated whether to speak or not before eventually saying, "To ensure there are no mistakes, I will repeat myself if necessary."
"Our mission is to steal from the robbers, just like the others. However, today's mission might be slightly different, which is why we needed to disguise ourselves."
"The robbery will take place in one of the busiest areas in the city. There will certainly be many people there, and we wouldn't want to be accidentally recognized by someone we know," Malik explained as he continued walking.
"Do you understand now?" the two twins looked at Devon.
"Well, that's not what I'm asking about. I mean, why are we wearing these specific clothes and masks? Doesn't it make us feel like real criminals?" Devon inquired.
"Oh," one of the twins asked, "and who do we believe ourselves to be?"
"Just because we abstain from coercing money from them, it doesn't, in any way, elevate our moral standing," they asserted, strolling away while adhering to our premeditated scheme.
"You know," Devon said, "it's about time the two of you started wearing name tags. It's become somewhat perplexing distinguishing between you two and ascertaining your identities." He trailed closely behind them.
Nestled at the house's corner were three motorcycles, neatly aligned side by side, all sporting a sleek, obsidian black hue.
"I assume," Malik inquired, directing the question at Devon, who hastily retracted, "you haven't had much experience with driving?"
"I must admit, I cannot recollect ever having been astride one," Devon confessed, lifting his hands in the air. At that very moment, he felt an arm enveloping his waist and a gentle pressure against his back.
"I'll give you a ride if you need it," Kelly exclaimed loudly, her arms wrapped tightly around Devon, preventing him from breaking free, not that he had any intention of doing so, evident by the crimson hue on his face.
"Well... With that being said, let's embark on our journey," Malik remarked as he gracefully mounted one of the motorcycles. Before the twins joined him, they engaged in a playful hand game, culminating in one of them emerging victorious.
Devon and Kelly, on the other hand, chose another motorcycle and, as they rode off into the dimly lit street, they seemed to vanish from sight.
"Ah!" Devon let out a cry as the motorcycle accelerated, swiftly overtaking the others in the blink of an eye.
"Gosh... You're quite the daredevil for a young lady!" Devon exclaimed, raising his voice so Kelly could hear him. Their velocity was so tremendous that Devon found it somewhat challenging to complete his sentence.
Kelly responded with a mischievous giggle to Devon's remark, then accelerated even further, widening the gap between them and the rest of the group.
A little while after they left the area, a person covered in a thick puffy cloak appeared, as if emerging from a dark place. They looked down in the direction the bikes had gone.
"Malik..." the person said quietly, their eyes glowing red.
---
Considering the speed at which the three bikes were currently moving, one might have expected the police to stop them, but that didn't happen.
Gradually, it appeared they were slowing down as they neared their destination. Currently, the bikes were running alongside each other at the same speed on a narrow highway with few vehicles.
"Today's ride is a bit dull... I mean, we weren't pursued by the cops at all. It's as if they don't exist," one of the twins complained, specifically the one seated behind.
"Well... Recently, the police have been occupied with numerous other matters, and road officers like these are rarely seen these days," Malik replied.
No one except them needs to be informed about why things are the way they are. The police have become deeply involved with the issue of the beast, causing them to neglect their duties in favor of dealing with this problem.
In a certain sense, besides the fact that they won't experience the thrill of being pursued by the police, this situation can be seen as a positive one, as they can now operate without any concerns.
Shortly thereafter, the bikes came to a halt in a parking area within a store that had already closed. They all disembarked and proceeded to assess their surroundings.
Meanwhile, Devon swiftly recognized their location. 'This place... If I'm not mistaken, the restaurant where I used to work is down the street,' Devon thought as he gazed at the street ahead. Since the road sloped downward like a hill in the distance, he couldn't actually spot the restaurant he used to be employed at.
'It's been nearly a week now,' Devon reflected. Hopefully, if tonight's mission goes smoothly, he will have no desire to return there.
Malik spoke, "I believe we'll remain here until the robber decides to make a move. Following that, we shall then take action ourselves."
In response, everyone in the group expressed their understanding with nods.
Malik then announced his intention, saying, "I will ascend to survey the area from an elevated vantage point."
Devon found himself puzzled about Malik's whereabouts, but it didn't take long for him to grasp the situation. After a brief period of silence, Devon's eyes detected movement above.
On the rooftop of a three-story building, Malik stood at the edge, equipped with binoculars, as he peered into the distance.
Devon couldn't help but wonder, "How did he manage to reach that location?"
While he pondered this, he felt a vibration from the walkie-talkie that had been provided to him, followed by Malik's voice.
"They are approaching. Everyone, assume your positions," Malik reported.
In that instant, the group sprang into action. Kelly gripped her two baton sticks firmly, while the Twins mirrored her actions. Devon's hand clenched tightly around the baseball bat he had been given.
At that point in time, they could hear the noise of numerous motorcycles racing downward. It did not take much time for approximately five motorcycles to pass them at high speed. When they reached the end of the slightly sloping street, their motorcycle skidded as they all applied the brakes.
"Okay, everyone, upon my signal, you should proceed to encircle the open restaurant," Malik gave instructions.
Meanwhile, during that very moment, one specific word had captured Devon's attention.
"Hey...! Return here, we haven't received the signal," one of the twins called out to Devon, who had already started running down the street.
"I knew he would mess things up!"
