Nathan 4

How long had it been? Hours? Days? Nathan didn't know, that was the least of his concerns. In fact, that wasn't a concern to begin with.

Nathan could feel the fresh blood that was dripping down his face, over the dried up one. He could feel the broken bones in his legs, the torn muscles screaming out, the open wounds, weeping in agony. The clothes he wore stunk of his blood and urea.

And this was just the beginning. They hadn't gotten to his upper body yet. And they didn't have want they wanted. Information.

Who had sent him.

It was a blessing that they didn't know who he was. If they ever found out, it'd start a war.

In short, he was going to have to take his identity to the grave. This was why he had never wanted to partake in this in the first place. This is why he had been hesitant. This was a one way trip.

The Wolf in the past was different from the Wolf now. They had gotten much more menacing, crueler and more ferocious. They were more on edge than before. The Orca's strategy was normally to wait for a period of time, when they least suspected, before attacking.

What had he done to deserve all this? Why was he here? Why? Why? Why? More and more questions began to fill his head. And more memories as well. Memories of him hiding in a cupboard, just as he had been asked to. Memories of how his parents, rather than not saying a word, revealed his location to the Orca. Memories of how he'd been dragged of by Ms. Watson into the snow, memories of how he been brought to the Orca. Memories. Memories. Memories.

He grit his teeth. The pain was unbearable. It was getting much colder by the second. Or had it always been this cold?

Still though, his mind could not wander far from these memories. The abandonment, the pain, the hunger, the cruelty and lastly, the things he'd been made to do. How could he forget? How would he forget?

But in the end, he still blamed his parents. There was once a story of how a woman decided to get her children back from the Orca, despite not having a dime to pay off her rent. She was made to walk through the ice desert, for 2 days. And she did. The stories say that she came back, and of course, her child was given to her.

This story was true. That child's name was Martin. And he had watched as the boy was handed back to his mother, and how the two reunited, the joy in their eyes, the gladness. It had filled him with envy and hate. While he went scott free, the rest of them had to stay under the torment of the Orca.

He began to hear voices; a man and a woman, the woman who had been torturing him earlier. He could see their shadows from outside.

"…the boss wanted to see you." The woman said, "Where have you been?"

"Where have I been?" the man laughed, "How does that concern you."

"I have looked all around the Lower Half for you. If you cannot understand your role here then you should."

"Should do what exactly, Cassandra?" the man said. He could feel the fear from the woman. Who exactly was he."

"I do not give a damn about what you think. I live by my rules and my rules alone, and if you think otherwise, then you might as well challenge me."

The man turned to the room but the woman blocked his path.

"Move!"

"I won't. The White said I shouldn't allow anyone save me here."

"Move!"

"Never."

"I said MOVE!" the man screamed, hitting her aside. The man looked at her disgusted before entering the room.

Nathan's eyes widened. His entire body began to shake with fear. His breathing quickened as his heartbeat. The man was John Myers. The Karver. The Karver looked at him long and hard. He tilted his head, drawing closer to him. Then he grabbed Nathan by the neck, drawing him closer to his face, an evil grin on his face. The Karver's eyes then widened, and then his grin became wider.

"My, my, my!" The Karver said, breaking into an evil laugh. "This must be the biggest catch of the century! Cassandra!"

The woman appeared, angry.

"This one is mine."

"I can't allow it, sir."

"Oh no, girl, I wasn't asking y'know. I'm saying he's mine. Go tell the boss, that your runts an Orca boy."

Cassandra looked at him, then at Nathan before leaving.

"My, my!" Karver said, "To think the boy of Torn Wyrn would show up right in front of my eyes!"
