The girl stumbled unto the snow again and stood up right after. She walked through the virtually abandoned street, looking around in utter awe of the snow filled town, and nervous of the evil eyes that watched her from the dark alleys. She could tell. The people she saw on the streets avoided her, some barely gave her a glance. The girl, however was unfazed by their cold attitudes towards her. She had more things to worry about at the moment.
Her name was Meimei. Meimei Vonharte and that was the only she could remember. Where she came from, why she was here, she had no idea. She woke up next to a frozen fountain and that was all. She made a right turn, avoiding the well built man in a brown fur coat that came in to view. The man looked at her and walked away, muttering under his breath about children and how parents were becoming more and more neglectful. Of course, Meimei didn't hear him and she walked on still admiring the snowy town. She came across a bakery with a small table at the front, a display of assorted breads with a sturdy glass to shield it from the cold. She in front of the stall drooling as her stomach reminded her that she hadn't eaten.
"Hey kid! Scram!" a loud voice boomed from inside the bakery. She turned to see a chubby fat man with a stern expression on his face. Meimei stared at the man confused. Had she done something wrong? The man, who was impatient, stepped outside to confront her. "I said scram, kid!" Meimei started to tremble. Obviously the guy was angry but she didn't know why. Was it her fault?
"I'm sorry," Meimei apologized immediately. The fat man looked at her, confused. It was his first time that he'd seen a stray kid apologize for absolutely nothing. He looked at her, examining her from head to toe and realized that everything about her was off. Her blue hair, her jasper orange eyes, the blue and white dress she wore with flower patterns at the base, the blue shoes with a white flower ribbon, that was way out of the Polar Region's standard. Also her eyes didn't have that kind of feisty nature in them. The man exhaled deeply. Opening the glass container, he took one loaf of bread and handed it to the girl. "Here," he said, "Now get lost."
Meimei took the bread and began to feast on it hurriedly. "Hey slow down." The man said. Meimei was however already done. "Thank you," Meimei said as she walked away. The man watched her go and shook his head. "Kids these days are just so weird."
