Chapter 13

[ Chief Harald's POV ]

After two hours passed, I gathered my men just as Lord Abel had ordered.

One of my subordinates, or rather my old friend, Gorkav asked with a curious expression.

"Did Lord Abel order something again, Chief?"

"'Yeah, he wants us to teach him how to steer a ship."

Gorkav wrinkled his forehead.

"Steer a ship? How? We can't go out to the sea, the Trench Keeper will attack us as soon as we step foot into the water."

"Yeah, we can't do anything at sea because of those bastards!"

"That's right, I know we are in debt to Lord Abel. But that doesn't mean he can just order us to die."

Some of my other subordinates also started to join in, I quickly interjected.

"I know, guys. But Lord Abel said he's already taken care of those Trench Keepers, so we don't have to worry about that anymore. Lord Abel also promised that he would bring in merchants once he could communicate with the outside world. So we can finally sell our pelts again."

"Oh, really? That does sound good."

"Exactly, when did Lord Abel ever lie to us?"

"When he said that Miss Sarah, Adela and Amy were his wives?"

"That's out of context, Imlay. And don't let Lord Abel hear you say that, as far as we know, the three of them are his wives. Anyway, the problem with the Trench Keeper has already been taken care of. Now, prepare to set sail, the task distribution is the same as usual."

Hearing my words, my subordinates faces got a little better.

I had to lie to them, otherwise, they wouldn't be willing to go.

I understood their hesitation and fear, because to be honest, I was quite doubtful myself.

From the beginning, I had always thought that Lord Abel was strange.

In fact, at first I thought he was crazy. Even now, that impression has only changed slightly.

However, even though I think he's a strange person, I also think he's a good person.

The appointed time arrived and I took my people to the beach.

We had been waiting for almost half an hour and my people were getting bored, but I didn't see Lord Abel anywhere.

Did something happen to him?

Did Lord Abel fail?

I don't mind if Lord Abel fails, Everyone fails. I mean, it just proves that he's human, all that matters now is, is he okay?

I sent one of my men to Lord Abel's house to check, but Lord Abel wasn't there.

I decided to wait for another half hour, that half hour then grew to an hour, two hours, and before I knew it, it was evening.

Alas, Lord Abel still didn't show up, and I began to worry.

I sent my men out to check on Lord Abel's house again, but still nothing.

Something was wrong, my people were also starting to feel the same way, I was able to calm things down together for a while, but now their patience had run out.

"Chief, when is Lord Abel coming? Are you sure everything is okay?"

"That's right, it's late afternoon now, I have to go back to my wife."

There was a huge whale jumping from the sea to the shore.

If it was just an ordinary whale I probably wouldn't have been so surprised, but it was pure white, exceeding the whiteness of a white whale, with red eyes and a long horn right in the middle of its huge head.

I've never seen such a creature, it must be some kind of monster.

"Seriously! What the hell is this thing?!?"

The shouting of my men immediately snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Grab your weapons, and surround the creature while maintaining a safe distance!"

Swiftly, I ordered all my men to prepare for battle.

But there was one thing that made me wonder, if this monster wanted to attack us, why would it jump out of the sea and show itself on the beach where it couldn't do anything?

My question was answered immediately.

The monster opened its big mouth, seeing what was inside its mouth, I was even more surprised than before.

Inside the monster's mouth, Lord Abel was casually drinking tea, he even looked very comfortable there.

"Oh, we've arrived. Hey Chief Harald, Sorry for making you wait. By the way, this thing's tongue feels so soft like a mattress, you should try getting in here. If you don't mind the fishy aroma..."

"What the f-"

[Abel POV]

Oh, that's the first time I've heard Chief Harald cursing.

I guess seeing a living person inside a whale's mouth is surprising, eh?

Speaking of whales, this whale is the leader of those fish monsters, what's their name again? I keep forgetting it.

I don't know why they're led by a whale, but I don't care.

I repackaged my tea bottle, and got off the whale's mouth, walking towards the still surprised Chief Harald.

"Alright, Chief Harald. Get your men on board, let's go to the sea."

"*Cough* I'm afraid we can't do that, my Lord?"

"Why not?"

"It's already evening."

"Ahh..."

Hell, I didn't realise it, but it seems like the fight lasted longer than I thought.

I didn't expect the fight to take this long.

In any case, the number of monsters was far more than I thought, so it took me a long time to sneak up and find this whale.

Not to mention, this whale was also strong so I had to weaken it first before my flames could affect it.

"Well, then I guess I have no other choice. We'll just have to do it tomorrow, sorry I wasted your time today, Chief Harald."

Well, I guess it's time to go home. I'm looking forward to tonight, I wonder what Sarah and the others are cooking?

Before I could leave, Chief Harald stopped me with a troubled expression.

"What is it, Chief Harald?"

"What should we do about that thing?"

Chief Harald pointed at the whale, which was still on the shore.

I thought I told him to come back, did my telepathic message not get through? Strange, but my telepathy was working fine before.

"You can go back to the sea now and don't forget my orders."

The whale didn't do anything, it just wagged its tail in the water.

I could vaguely sense that he was troubled due to our bond, but what was it problem?

Chief Harald grabbed my shoulder.

"My lord, I don't think it can return to the water."

"What?"

What did he mean? This thing is a monster, it's no ordinary whale, it should be able to return on its own even if it washed up on the shore.

I looked back at the whale, and it wagged its tail as if to say yes.

"Are you kidding me? Does that mean we have to push it back into the water."

"I'm afraid so, my Lord."

"Blast!"

We spent more than 10 minutes pushing that damn whale back into the sea.
