10 Hours Before The Carnage (3)

"RROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!"

The loud roar sounded like a creature from the depths of the abyss. It shook the cargo ship that was in the middle of its journey towards Rain Bay port. All the crew members were awakened from their sleep or snapped out of their work by the sound.

Their hair stood on end from the primal fear that arises when facing a wild animal beyond human comprehension. Even in the command room of the ship, Gandara and Anton, who were chatting about their reunion, fell silent with pale faces.

"W... what fucking hell is that?!" Gandara exclaimed, startled, and stood up from his seat.

His face turned pale from the fear that crept into his heart. He tried to find an answer and looked at Anton, whose face reflected his own.

"Anton! What is that? Do you know anything?" Gandara's panicked and anxious voice could be heard, but Anton remained silent as if gathering his thoughts that were scattered by the roar.

"ANTON!!" Gandara became furious.

"..."

Anton was still silent, even though he heard Gandara's angry shouts clearly.

Finally, he sighed deeply and looked at Gandara with concern.

"Gather all your crew and arm them! I'm sorry, Gandara, but this is an emergency and I'll take over your crew's command!" his firm and undeniable voice explained the order that Anton had given.

"What the fuck? Anton, don't joke around! By what authority can you order me and take my crew?!" Gandara knew something bad was happening, and his anger started to boil, but he managed to remain calm in his head.

"I have permission to take over all commands on this ship if Subject-45 loses control!" Anton quickly took an order letter from his military pocket and placed it on the table.

*BRAK!

"Subject-45 loses control!? The monster roar earlier was the sound of Subject-45 losing control? FUCK!! What kind of monster did you bring into my ship? FUCK YOU, ANTON!"

Gandara did not take the order letter on the table and slammed the table with anger. His rage was explosive because he was forced to join a terror that he could have avoided. This time, Gandara was very sure that there were people above who wanted him to really die.

Anton calmly accepted Gandara's anger and looked at him without flinching. "Read your order letter, Sea Colonel Gandara Supratma."

"YOOUUUU!!" Gandara pointed at Anton's face with a red, angry face, but Anton's calm demeanor made Gandara swallow his curse words.

Reluctantly, Gandara took the order letter from the table and read it. The contents of the letter made Gandara sigh deeply in resignation. Once again, what he had was taken away by a piece of paper.

"What should we do now...No...Give your command, Sir!" Gandara killed his frustration and friendship to become a soldier who only carried out orders.

"Gather all your crew and arm them with full weapons! Use the heat detector to locate Subject-45's location. Whatever happens, we cannot let him go overboard!" Anton, who also had to kill their friendship for the task, gave a firm order.

"Yes, Sir!"

Gandara left the room to gather his subordinates.

*BAM!

Although he did not want to do it, Gandara was still human, so his annoyance made the door shut so loudly.

"Captain!" Doly, Parna, and Dila, who were standing next to the room, immediately entered and saluted Anton.

"At ease. Currently, we are in an emergency situation, all personnel in this team are those who have knowledge of Subject-45 beyond the other cadets. That's why you were chosen. Dila, can you stop him?"

"Sir, although Subject-45 seems to be out of control now, we cannot be sure. There is a possibility that Subject-45 is just slightly disturbed because it is sailing for the first time. That's why I'm confident that I can calm him down!" Dila replied with full confidence.

"Sir, what Dila said may be true, but we don't have time to make sure. If Subject-45 starts killing soldiers or crew members, I suggest using armor-piercing bullets to neutralize him. Approaching Subject-45 without preparation is not wise!" Parna objected after Dila finished speaking.

"Armor-piercing bullets? Are you insane? Subject-45 could be killed, and all the success of the CP-190 experiment would die with him! Sir, I refuse to use armor-piercing bullets. I am sure I can calm Subject-45 down. We have a very close relationship, so I'm sure Subject-45 won't hurt me!"

"You are very naive, Dila. Is it because you spend too much time with that monster that you have truly come to see him as a human? You must realize that he is no longer Feldy Schalange but Subject-45!"

"What did you say? Subject-45 used to be a soldier who sacrificed himself for EUN just like you! And now he is still a soldier!"

"That's why I said you are very naive!"

"YOU--"

"SERGEANT!" Doly, who had been silent, spoke loudly.

"Now is not the time to argue! Don't you hear the sounds of battle outside? You are an elite team trusted by Eshya I to escort Subject-45 to the mainland. Maintain your attitude as a soldier!"

Dila and Parna simultaneously shut their mouths and replied, "Yes, Sir!"

"Thank you, Sergeant First Class Doly," Anton nodded at Doly.

"Sir!"

"I want to ask for your opinion, what should we do?"

"Sir, I recommend that we do not go empty-handed. Although regular bullets will not be effective for Subject-45, we have special tranquilizer bullets to neutralize him. But we still have to be careful if something unexpected happens, so we should also bring RPG-30."

Before Dila's face became even paler and her lips bled from biting too hard, Doly continued, "But we should also give Sergeant Second Class Dila a chance to try to calm Subject-45 down. If this works, then we don't need to waste the tranquilizer bullets but also prove that we can control Subject-45 without problems."

Anton smiled, "Excellent job, Lieutenant Doly Andika, you have used your intelligence wisely. TEAM! If there are no further objections, we will proceed with Lieutenant Doly's plan to neutralize Subject-45."

Anton glanced at each member of his team, especially Dila. However, it seemed that Dila also agreed with the plan because she was given the opportunity to calm Subject-45 directly.

"Good! Doly, Parna, both of you take out the RPG-30 and tranquilizer guns. Dila, come with me to the monitoring room, we need to determine Subject-45's whereabouts. Team, Move Out!"

"YES, SIR!"

*Bang! *Bang! *Bang! *Bang! *Bang! *Bang! *Bang!

The ship's deck had become a battlefield. The sound of gunfire mixed with screams of pain, which signaled the end of one of the crew members. As Gardana had said before, their ship was a cargo vessel, not a warship.

They did not have adequate weapons to engage in battle, especially against the latest experimental creature of the century. Their bullets could not even penetrate the skin of Subject-45, only making it feel ticklish and adding to its anger.

To make matters worse, CP-190's experiment did not remove Subject-45's ability to use firearms. With the strength of a rhinoceros, the speed of a cheetah, and the keen senses of an eagle, Subject-45 was the true embodiment of a super soldier.

Anyone sent to confront it would only end up dead without even catching a glimpse of Subject-45. Although the crew's bullets could not harm it, Subject-45 remained agile, using its surroundings to employ guerrilla tactics.

The number of casualties in this battle had reached tens. The sound of torn flesh and broken bones accompanied the brightness of the moon that night. Subject-45 seemed to be dancing among the lifeless crew members scattered around it.

Unfortunately, Subject-45 did not seem to intend to leave the ship. He did not move towards the edge of the ship to jump into the sea. However, like a shark that smelled blood, Subject-45 moved towards the area crowded with people. He seemed to enjoy this slaughter.

"Report, Sir! We can't hold it any longer! Subject-45 keeps moving towards the monitor room! We request assistance as soon as possible!" a crew member holding the radio reported the gruesome condition on the ship's deck.

Although he had undergone training to become a soldier, fighting against humans and fighting against monsters were two different things. Fear haunted him at this moment, not because the enemy was too strong, but because the enemy seemed to be immortal.

"Report! Monitor room! Please send help--"

*STAB!

A giant red hand suddenly emerged from the crew member's chest. His eyes widened as he saw his heart being held in the hand. Before he could realize what was happening, the giant hand clenched its fist. His heart, in the middle of it, crushed like a squeezed orange.

The last thing he saw was the red face of a monster that could haunt him even in the afterlife.

Subject-45 passed by the dead crew member and looked around. Gunshots and screams of pain were no longer heard around it. All crew members who tried to stop it were killed or scattered in panic to save their own lives.

Subject-45 smiled, an unusual feeling of joy bloomed in his heart. He was happy to inflict pain on these unfortunate crew members. At least they now knew a little of the pain he was experiencing.

His nose, more sensitive than a dog's, smelled the scent of life not far from his location. Specifically, in the monitor room where the crew members were huddled, trembling in fear. He smiled, feeling the opportunity to inflict pain again.

But His steps halted. Four people in army uniforms walked towards him, looking wary except for a woman who smiled gently at him. A woman he knew, his blurry memories painted her beautiful face in his head.

"Hey, are you okay?" the woman said with a gentle smile on her face.

A name was carved in Subject-45's mind, trying to surface amidst the whirlwind of pain he was experiencing.

"Dila."
