Chapter 14

Power is a beautifully evil thing….

It's only been a few minutes since everyone left the room,Onyx gave me a weird looking green soup to drink saying it would help me rest.At first I was really hesitant to drink it but after a small sip,I had finally finished it all, it was actually really nice and it also calmed down my nerves really fast.I feel so light right now,and so relaxed.A little light headed even.

It's only then that I feel a strange presence slip into the room.Cole's presence.I turn my head to the door and I see a misty shadow slip slowly into the room.It starts to solidify rapidly as it joins together till it forms Cole's body.

"Hello Friend"

Just then the whole room turns pitch black.I can't see anything, I can't even see myself.

"So, about our agreement"I hear his voice glide past my ears.

I flinch from the coldness of his voice.

"I thought you said you'd give me till the end of the day to think about it"I manage to whisper

"Oh did I?"he says, pouring his cold breath on my ear.

"I lied"he says.

As soon as he does so a bright light shines on me and a hideous creature lunges at me.I scream and cover my face with my hands in fear.It's only then that I feel warm hands clamp my shoulders shaking me a little.

"Mirai dear what's wrong?"I hear Ashanti's voice

"Open your eyes"she continues

I open my eyes slowly and see that I'm in my room again.

"You're shaking"says Ashanti

I try to speak but it feels like my tongue has been caught off.I just can't speak.

"Stay right here let me go get you some water"she says standing up and leaving the room

"Tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock"I hear Cole's voice in every corner of the room

"I'm waiting"

"Here you go"says Ashanti coming into my room

I take it with shaky hands trying my best to breath.After I'm done drinking it Ashanti takes the cup away.

"What happened?"she finally asks

Just then Cole appears behind her with a cynical smile on his face as he tilts his head to the side.He places a finger on his lips gesturing to me to stay quiet as his hand slowly turns to steel then shapes into a blade.

I freeze staring in awe at what I'm seeing completely tongue tied.

"What is it?"asks Ashanti looking behind her but of course sees nothing as soon as Cole disappears.She turns to me with a puzzled look on her face

"What?"

"Uh um nothing,I just had a bad dream"

"Oh ok"she says

"It's ok now,it's probably caused by you hitting your head but you'll be alright.Are you hungry?"

"No"I reply in a low voice

"Oh I see but if you are just press the button on the nightstand"

I turn my head to the nightstand now wondering just how I had missed it all this time.

"Oh"is all I can mutter before I try to flash what I think is an assuring smile.

She reciprocates this and leaves the room.

The quietness of the room overwhelms me.Then Cole paying me another visit scares the life out of me.But for some reason I still anticipate it,no I expect it.He'll be back.

Hours after hours of the day was wasted in my room.Jasmine hadn't come to visit me or pester me about plans of running away.Which I find really odd.But it doesn't matter now I'll probably see her anyway at the dining room.

As I sit down at my usual chair Ada and her husband smiles at me-as usual-and I reciprocate a weak smile.As I eat I silently anticipate Jasmine to walk in,it's been a whole twenty minutes of dinner and still no sign of even her shadow and what's more weird is Ada makes no move to get up to drag Jasmine down here.Strange.

Just then a strong wave of an unexpected migraine kicks in with full force making me drop whatever I'm holding.

"Give me your mind already"I hear Cole whisper harshly somewhere near me

"Child what is it?"I hear Ada ask

"Give it already,give it now,now,now"Cole whispers loudly as a weird ringing doing fills my ears

The intensity becomes unbearable and I feel like my head is going to explode.I have no idea how I'm on the floor now but all I know is I'm kicking and screaming at a voice.A voice that only I can hear.

"Just go away,I never even promised you anything in the first place.Why are you doing this?"I scream

"Silence"retorts Cole

The ringing intensifies then I hear Ada call my name softly.I turn my head towards her and find that I'm sitting on the chair.Im not on the ground and everything is perfectly fine.

"Is there something wrong?"she asks with curiosity lingering in her eyes

"Yes"I manage to say

Everyone in the room is staring at me oddly as though I'm crazy.But that isn't what's important.

Was I hallucinating…….am I still hallucinating?

A wave of dizziness hits me and I lose my appetite.

"Speak up,what seems to be the problem this time?"asks Nicodemus

"I'm feeling a little under the weather"I say getting up

"Oh"replies Nicodemus as he looks at his wife who seemingly looks at him too

"You poor thing"says Ashanti

"I want to go to my room now"I reply

"Of course"says Ada

I walk off to my room and lock the door exhaling feeling so mentally exhausted.

"Good she's finally here"I here the sarcastic voice of Cole out of nowhere

"Ready to seal the deal?"he says more anxiously.

At this point I have never felt so pushed to the corner in my life.

Cole appears in front of me with his hands behind his back standing regally with a devilish smirk on his face.

"Well?"he says lifting my chin up as he stares down at me with cold eyes

There really is no way out of this is there?

"Ok"I whisper

"What was that?"he asks

"Yes you can have my mind,do whatever you want"I reply

A smirk reappears on his face and I can't help but notice his handsome facial features.

"Good girl"he says, letting go of my chin still staring down at me.

"This will only take a minute…..it might sting a little"he says placing his hands on my ears

Just then I feel a sharp pain in my skull coming from my ears.

"Hahahahah this is going to be fun"I hear Cole say lowly

And then everything starts turning black.
