I look around to see Harvey. "What are you doing here?" I gave him a look.
He puts a finger to his lips, making a shushing sound. "They're sleeping."
I rolled my eyes as I approached the open window. "For a second there, I thought you were a ghost." I leaned closer to him, not to disturb the sleeping girl behind me. "Always haunting me wherever I go." I said with a half-smile.
Harvey tilted his head with an innocent look. "Really? Haunting?" He chuckled silently. "I'm just looking after you and making sure you're always safe."
I looked at him with a smile. He smiled back. I felt his genuine love radiating from just that smile and his eyes didn't hide any other emotion except for love. The moon shone over his head, I reached out and patted his head.
I smiled as he wondered why I had a hand on his hair. "The full moon looked like a halo behind your head." I said with adoration.
Harvey's smile faded slowly and turned around to look at the moon. I could suddenly feel that there's something wrong. He turned around and kissed my forehead. I looked at him with a worried expression.
Harvey held my cheek and smiled. "I forgot I had something to do for a while. I'll be around. Don't forget that I'm one call away." He winks at me and slowly disappeared into the shadows. There was only silence after he left and then the chirping of crickets.
I didn't bother to close the window and I lay down on the mattress. The moon had the glow of the rainbow surrounding it in a circle. No clouds were there tonight. Just as I was about to fall asleep, a soothing melody reached my ears like it was calling me.
I opened my eyes and I looked at the moon. I don't know but it looked like the moon's light-directed a path.
I got out of bed and went outside, walking where the moon's light was leading me to. It was like I was hypnotized but I was conscious. I wanted to know where this goes and I didn't have the thought to stop myself.
The subtle crashing of water reached my ears. I looked up and saw the sea.
Why am I here?
It only felt like a minute but I knew for sure that the sea was at least thirty minutes far from Briana's house.
There was the melody again. A dark but comforting voice reached my ears. My heart started to race and my body was being pulled like metal being pulled by a magnet. Not so far of a distance, I saw a figure with a black hooded cloak. He was singing a sweet melody that only made me want to get close to him.
I noticed in my peripheral vision, another man was walking towards the man in a cloak like I was. The cloaked man turned to the man approaching and sang a line that made me feel like I was in a dream.
"You who are lonely, with a broken heart. A man of love comes from a sad story." He extended his hand and pointed at the man. His voice was more comforting but it sounded to grow even darker and sinister. "Where does the broken man go? To the happiness that makes him whole again?"
The cloaked man pointed at the sea and the man started to head to the water. The cloaked man continued to sing his song. "Or into the darkness that will set him free from all the pain?"
I was still slowly walking to the cloaked man. My eyes watched in horror as the man who went to the sea, drown. Bubbles came up until there were no more. The cloaked man stopped singing but his voice still echoes in my head. It's like I was drunk or in a dream.
I couldn't speak. I reached out my hand to touch the black cloak of the man as my vision blurred.
I could only think of one thing.
