-February 12th-
"So you want to throw a surprise party for Luna?" Lisa asked me, and I nodded.
"Yes. Her birthday is coming up, and since we're friends with her, it would be nice if we made a little surprise party to celebrate," I said, and I could see my friends look at each other.
In the common room with me were Terry, Anthony, Stephen, Michael, Sue, Lisa, Padma. I tried to find Mandy and Morag, but they were probably somewhere in the castle gossiping.
"Well I'm in" Terry said.
"I too" Padma said, "But how many days until her birthday, exactly?" she asked.
"Hmm, actually, her birthday is tomorrow," I replied, and my friends looked at me wide-eyed.
"What!?" Lisa exclaimed, "Her birthday is tomorrow?! And you're only telling us now about throwing her a surprise party?"
"Well, it's just that I was busy with some matters, so I didn't have time to talk about her birthday with you guys… And to be honest, I kind of forgot about her birthday," I said, scratching my head in embarrassment.
"Sigh... So does that mean we only have 1 day to plan and organize this surprise party?" Sue asked.
"Well…yes, but we have magic, so it won't be that hard," I said with a shrug.
"That's true, but still, if we'd had more time I might even have gotten her a present," Sue said.
"Well, I don't know what would be a good present for Luna, but I'm going to ask Professor Flitwick to help me make something for her" Stephen said.
"I know she's just like Ethan, and likes magical creatures" Terry commented, "I think I'll ask Professor McGonagall to transfigure a small figurine of some animal for her"
"That would be a good idea" Padma said, tapping her chin in thought, "I can see if I have any books on magical creatures in my stuff..."
"I have a book about Egyptian magical creatures" Lisa said, "I was saving it for Ethan for his birthday, but since it's kind of his fault that we don't have presents for Luna, I think he can do without this present"
As soon as Lisa said that, I looked at her with a betrayed look, but she answered me with her own gaze, so I could only turn my head to the side while mumbling.
"Tsk, now in addition to homework are we going to have to occupy our time planning a surprise party?" Michael frowned, "If I had known about the birthday in advance, I would have started planning this party myself a long time ago."
"Well, we didn't know her birthday because she never told us, and because it didn't come to my mind to ask." Sue shrugged.
"Yes, but we should have asked since we know each other's birthdays and our friends' birthdays from the other houses" Anthony said, and Michael turned to look at him.
"Wait, do you know what day everyone here has a birthday?" he asked.
"Not everyone's, but at least I know my friends' birthdays" Anthony replied.
"You're weird," Michael said, earning a confused look from Anthony.
"That's not weird, I also know all my friends' birthdays" Stephen said.
"Me too" Lisa said, and Sue, Stephen and Padma nodded.
"Serious?" Michael asked unconvinced.
"Yes" Stephen said, "Terry's birthday is July 28th, Anthony's June 15th, Lisa's November 7th"
"Padma's is May 25th, Ethan's is April 9th, Stephen's is January 3rd" Lisa continued for Stephen.
"And Sue's is the 5th of September" Terry finished.
"And I also know the birthdays of the twins, Harry and Ron, Ginny, Susan, Hannah, Justin, Megan, Cedric, Neville, Lee,..." I started to say, only to be interrupted by Michael.
"Okay okay, I get it, you know everyone's birthday at school" he said rolling his eyes. He then stopped to think and started looking at us, "Wait, why didn't you mention my birthday?" he asked.
We all then started looking at each other, with an unspoken question in our eyes. We then went back to looking at Michael with uncertain looks.
....
...
....
...
....
"Err... February 30th?" Anthony asked.
"That date doesn't even exist!" Michael exclaimed.
He then palmed his own forehead while muttering something about regretting not asking Sorting Hat to put him in Hufflepuff.
"For your information, my birthday is March 1st," he said, but when he turned to look at us he saw us ignoring him as we talked about what to do for Luna's surprise party.
"Urgh!"

-Hogwarts kitchens-
'Hmm, maybe I'll ask the twins to help buy some sweets and drinks in Hogsmead... And maybe I'll take some muggle snacks and sweets that I've been keeping in my suitcase for my pureblood friends to try' I thought, scratching the pear in the portrait, opening the entrance to the kitchens.
Entering the kitchens, I saw that the elves were busy cleaning and cooking, but as soon as they saw me they all stopped what they were doing.
"Master Ethan!" "Sir Ethan"
"What would Master Ethan like?"
"Would Master Ethan like a cake?" one of the elves asked, pulling his ears shyly.
"Or maybe some cookies?" another offered.
"Mops has made some sweets that Master Ethan might like," said Mops, a little elf, offering a plate of some muffins topped with icing and sugar.
"As if anyone would like your sweets, Blinky's sweets are so much better," one of the elves said, her chest puffing out with pride, looking haughtily at Mops.
"Even the creatures of the Forbidden Forest don't like their sweets, so how would Master Ethan like it?" Mops retorted.
"What did you say?!" Blinky asked, tugging at his imaginary shirt sleeves, advancing on Mops.
Before the First World War of the Elves could start, I placed my hand on top of the heads of these two quarrelsome little elves.
I knew that as soon as I walked into the kitchen, the elves would start this little competition of who would serve me first, something I'd gotten used to seeing.
"Calm down guys, and hello to you too" I said with an ironic smile on my face, since this same scene was common, but it was still funny.
Sometimes I think they love me more and have more loyalty to me than to the Headmaster, but I blame the recipes I teach them through the Beast Talk connection.
"I'm here because I'd like to make a request for you," I said, catching the attention of all the elves.
"Would Master Ethan like to make a request for Galie?" An elf with short, pointy ears and yellow eyes said excitedly.
"Yes, I'd like to ask you guys to make me some sweets and snacks, and also a big birthday cake," I said, and seeing that the elves were paying attention to me and were excited at the prospect of having to do some work, I started talking about the foods I would like them to make, as well as the taste of the cake and its decoration.
At some point, I even saw some elves put on some glasses and pull out a notebook to jot down my instructions.
'Now I can cross off the cake and snacks' I thought.

-Room of Requirement – Room of Hidden Things-
"It's still as messed up here as ever," I commented, using my skills to track the magic of the one I came looking for.
"Hi Dobby" I said reaching a corner that had several clothes and sewing machines, surprising the little elf who stopped sewing and ran to hug my legs, something he did every time he saw me.
I knew it was strange for an elf to show so much affection, even Dobby, but even Linnly acted that way with me, and I knew it had to do with my Beast Power and my connection to them.
"Hello Sir Ethan Sir" Dobby said happily, "Do you need Dobby's help with something?" he asked.
"Why do you always ask that question when I come to see you?" I asked rolling my eyes good-naturedly, "Can't I just want to come see a friend of mine?"
"Does Sir Ethan consider Dobby a friend?" the big-eyed elf asked in surprise, before his expression changed to a tearful, "Dobby is not worthy of Sir Ethan's friendship... Sniff, Sniff..."
"Of course you are worthy of my friendship Dobby, and you are a very good friend," I said, stroking the weeping elf's head.
"But changing the subject, this time I'm really here because I want to ask you a favor," I said, and Dobby stopped crying to look at me curiously.
"What favor sir Ethan sir?" he asked.
"I would like to ask for your help to prepare a friend's birthday party, and also to help me with a present for her," I said, and before I could even explain the rest of my request, Dobby nodded his head quickly.
"Of course Dobby will help Sir Ethan sir! Dobby would also be very happy to help prepare Sir Ethan's friend's party" he said, and I smiled at him.
"Fine, but let's save the party prep for later, now let's talk about the gift for Luna," I said, and crouching down to Dobby's level I started talking about what my gift to Luna would be, and how he could help me.
End.

(End AN:Sigh... I'm sick.
I've always liked cold weather, but whenever it's too cold I get sick, and I hate getting sick.
At least in the cold I can bundle up with lots of clothes and drink hot drinks.)
