“You’re m’ best friend,” Jason agreed, and tugged Scooter into a hug that was just a little too tight. “I’m so happy for you. You an’ Andy are…perfect together.”
“We’re pretty awesome,” Scooter said. A dark shape was creeping up behind Jason as Scooter ducked out from under his arm. “Not…quite as good as you an’ Kat, but pretty awesome.” He took a couple of quick steps out of range.
Having drenched D’ante beyond all hope, Kat and Elaine were stealing up behind Jason, giggles mostly masked by the sound of the surf.
