Beginnings (2)

First Mykel went to his parents' room, "mother, father?" He was beginning to panic.

He bursted into his little sister's room and instead of seeing his parents and his little sister sleeping in her crib. It was empty. Nothing was left, not even a note.

In his panic, he ran, not caring if he was caught too. He ran to the closest residence to the manor that his family stayed in. The castle of the Archduke and the Duchess. In such a panic he could also hear the rustling of the leaves, he was young and still unable to use magic. His powers were sealed as he was too young to use them yet. He feared he'd be eaten by whatever was chasing him. So he yelled out. In his desperation.

"It's Mykel Adara, please help!" It was all he could muster. He was running out of breath, he ran faster. Then he tripped right over a tree root. Falling right into the leg of Aidan Landry, the archduke of the land of Gloria where the Adara family resided. And as it was under his protection. Mykel was also his responsibility to keep safe.

"Mykel Adara, why are you here?" The deep rumble of Aidan's voice echoed through the trees startling off the wild mythic wolves that were chasing after the little boy.

"They took my parents and Lizzie! I'm so scared I don't know what to do!" He begins to cry, and Aidan shuffles a bit anxiously. As he glanced around for his wife.

"Let's go inside, we will go see my wife, she will be better at consoling you than I. Then we will speak on the next move to take, and get you some breakfast."

Even though Mykel came over frequently with his parents, it was normal for children of Mykel's ability to have 'Chosen's' act as a guardian to them. In this case, Aidan is Mykel's 'guardian'; his Majesty decided due to the closeness Lizbeth would be given to Cyra, Aidan's wife. As her apprentice in a way. As that is what it was considered.

A child that has the abilities of a 'Chosen' can utilize multiple mystic abilities that they develop regardless of blood status. Though their blood status might dictate which mystic ability will be best linked to them. A 'link' occurs to a chosen that allows them to demonstrate one or two particular mystic abilities to the greatest effect and they will also take on the appearance of one of these 'mystics.'

Chosen's manifested when Emperor Elior Leroy changed the configuration of the Earth, making it ten times its size before, changing the lands and oceans. It was a difficult process and Aidan would know as he too was involved. Elior had asked him momentarily to fuse himself with the sun.

"Will you help me?"

He sighed it was no use reminiscing on the past. Now they needed to speak to his wife on what to do next. She has been more involved in tracking missing persons.

"I promise we will find your parents and your sister Mykel, I too will help." Mykel was his responsibility, this had always been a danger they all knew, but they didn't think…no he shouldn't have let his guard down so much.

Aidan should have known better. As anger fills him his fists clench. He doesn't want to scare or accidentally hurt Mykel. So he exhaled through his nose, puffs of smoke coming out. Just short of puffing out fire.

He was more afraid of the tears his wife was sure to shed once she heard the news. Yet he still will have to be the one to tell her.

He is brought out of his somber thoughts as Mykel moves forward and grasps his hand. "Do you really promise?"

"Yes, we will get your sister back, wherever she is. Along with your parents," the somber air was lifted slightly. He was careful to hold Mykel's hand as softly as he could. Fearing he might hurt him. Mykel reminded him of his younger brother Alaric when he was young. He even had dark red hair much like Aidan's own.

He will protect Mykel, he failed Alaric, but he will not fail Mykel.

He opened the door of the castle and sitting on the stairs was Cyra, she was already looking worried. Her eyes widened when they saw a scraped-up Mykel. She rushed forward scooping Mykel up in her arms. Mykel couldn't hold back the tears at her concern and began to sob.

"Where are your parents and little Lizzie?" She guessed what went wrong. She has always been observant. Aidan decided to speak, as Mykel was reduced to sobs.

"Gone, I rushed out when I heard Mykel begging for help. I found him in the woods being chased by some mythic wolfhounds," he braced himself for her tears. And whatever hope she held in her eyes was shattered. He could see it the moment something broke inside. As she begins to shake with her sobs, he drops down to his knees.

In a flurry of white, all of her magnificent white wings spread out. More wings than could possibly be counted. He too knew his draconic features were no doubt on display. As his eyes glow a brilliant mixture of orange and red, he hopes that whoever his enemies are he finds them quickly enough. He doesn't want to feel the need to torture them too much.

The quicker the hunt, the better. He wants to bring their heads to her fe—

"Aidan," Cyra spoke gently, catching him out of his reverie. "We will first report the incident to his majesty, then we will send the dragon mythics out to hunt for clues. Perhaps a smaller breed so they will be quick and efficient. We must hurry, time is of the essence.

"I'll contact Amaris as well, her Oni abilities come in handy in situations like these, if whoever the assailant is hired is an Oni then we will need to move quickly. Only an inexperienced Oni would leave a trail behind.

"For now though, we shall make breakfast, I will call His Majesty." Despite everything she manages to force a smile. Now was not the time to mope around and do nothing. She carried Mykel over to the kitchen and sat him on the counter as she used a fire spell to light the stove.

"Umm Lady Cyra…Where will I go?" He sounded so unsure of himself. His world had shattered and now he was scared of what would happen next.

"We have plenty of rooms, Aidan is still your guardian so you will stay with us until your parents are found." It wasn't an if, Cyra didn't like to take no for an answer. She also had faith as she knew they were better off alive as prisoners than dead.

"Can you contact his majesty first? Isn't there something he can do?" Mykel begged, and all Cyra did was shake her head slightly, "Perhaps there is something he can do, we will leave first and I will call his majesty and Amaris."

"As long as we find them," Mykel ended up staring at his feet, and even when a plate of food was placed onto his lap he only ate a little of it before he set his plate to the side.

"I want to go now," Mykel jumped down from the counter and looked up at the Saintness.

"Very well then, but I must change first," Cyra said, snapping her fingers she glowed white for just a moment and then she was wearing armor made of golden scales. She looked more fit for battle than a day out on the town.

She smiled as she looked down at Mykel, offering her hand. "Now let us go and retrieve all of your belongings, then we will continue from your house and follow a trail. I sent a message out to his majesty and Amaris."

Cyra led Mykel down the hall and looked toward Aidan who was wearing a long white coat with feathers on the shoulders. "I might have to give you some more feathers for that jacket of yours, looks like you lost a few in battle."

"If you wish but I am content with it as it is, for now at least," Aidan smiled softly as he looked at his wife, outstretching his hand for her to take, as she gave him her free hand.

As they get outside Aidan takes several steps away from Cyra and Mykel. Patiently waiting as he changes into his dragon form right in front of them. Dragons can control their size, all dragons have a limit to how big they can get. Aidan's full size is much larger than the Earth. It's impractical to ever use his full size, so he never is bigger than a few miles long.

He lays his chin down on the ground, huffing a bit. Cyra took Mykel into her arms and outstretched her wings again. Flying up to sit behind Aidan's horns. She sits Mykel upon her lap.

"Let us hurry then to the mansion, we have no time to waste."
