Life has a way of turning around

Every day, we wake, not knowing what we’ll encounter. We live our life the best way we learn how with laughter or pain. We understand what is and isn’t essential. It’s called learning experiences. If you don’t realize, you don’t grow.

I would visit Val every day. I would stop by and see Lena until the hospital released her. Zachery’s condition improved as he opened his eyes. His recovery would be slow and painful.

As for Val, she slept. When she was awake, we would talk. She would always give me a smile which I adored. Her smile kept me going.

While I was at the hospital, trouble brewed at home with Ryanne and Ruby home alone. Everyone had gone out, leaving them home by themselves. Shay headed to the house, but traffic delayed him.

The girls were hanging out when the glass shattered.

/"What was that?/" Ruby asked.

She lifted her head.

/"I’m not sure,/" Ryanne said.
