Slowly, Sally turned and walked to where Yuri's clothes were kept. Her actions mirrored her reluctance to do what Yuri was telling her to do. However, Sally had no option in the matter. But she silently hoped that the king would engage Yuri which would make her unable to go out.
What made her shiver the most was what she'd heard from the people in the kitchen. She and Xeria were very close and considered themselves friends, so Sally was confused as to why her daughter would be involved in such a scandal. The worse part of the matter to Sally was that she didn't know about it.
Early that morning, while they heated the water that the princess was going to use for bathing, she and Xeria spoke for the first time since the incident.
"What they're saying about Esme," Sally had whispered. "Is it true?" she asked with worry in her eyes as she searched her friend's face and saw how older Xeria seemed suddenly.
