Useless Guard...!

Who is that with you?" The King asked as he looked keenly at the person who was resting upon her shoulders.

Gulping again, she answered;

"Andrew..."

"Uh, Prince Andrew, father, the Prince said to call him that...!" Mariam said and corrected herself as she smiled awkwardly.

On hearing her son's name, the Queen was quick to turn her head in the direction of Mariam.

"Andrew?" The Queen asked.

Mariam looked at her.

"Did you just say Andrew?" The Queen asked again.

It took some time for Mariam to answer, but in the end, she only nodded her head.

"Yes, My Queen... " Mariam answered.

That answer had the Queen sigh in relief as she nodded gently.

"Come over here dear, and bring Andrew with you...!" The King saida she left Samuel's shoulder and turned to climb the stair to the throne.

As he said that and left Samuel's shoulder, Mariam looked at Samuel with a face filled with panic, as also her face turned pale.

On seeing Mariam's face and color drained, he was quick to speak up.

"I'm afraid she won't be able to join you father for a chat...!" Samuel said as he turned to look at the King.

"What...?" Stopping mid-way, the King turned to look at Samuel.

Samuel bowed deeply the high respect.

"I mean no disrespect my King, but Andrew asked us to take him to his room, as he was feeling, a little bit, high...Father!"

Samuel said that last part in whisper so that the King got what he was trying to say.

The Councilmen thought he was drink as usual, so did the Queen, but the King understood what Samuel had said perfectly well, so he nodded and gave them his approval.

Nodding,he said;

"Well don't just stand there, go help her, she's a woman, and women aren't that strong now, any little thing they pass out!" The King said as he tried hard not to look at his wife, which made Samuel laugh.

"But we men...!" He said as he heaved his chest high.

"We are warriors, prepared for battle, nothing can shake us, nothing came move us...with one (1) swim of the sword, we've got the enemies down at once, am I right men?" The King asked.

All the men present in the room roared in approval. Even Samuel.

The King smiled at this.

Looking at Samuel, he nodded.

"Go on, go help her now before she faints...!" As he said this all the men roared with with laughter.

Smiling, Mariam said;

"Father, I'm not as weak as you think...!"

"I'm actually pretty stronger that most soldiers and warriors here...!" Mariam said.

When she said this, a guard wa the first to roar in heavy laughter, before the Councilmen started joining in slowly, then before the King.

The guard that had stated the laughter, then said;

"No offense, but girl, you just go back to your station; the kitchen and whip me up something to eat because I'm hungry, while you leave the fighting and war to us men...!" The guard said.

"Because I don't think you can clean the kitchen first, talk much more, the house before we start talking of war...you are just being pesky...go to your kitchen and whip me up something to eat, I'm hungry...!" The guard added.

"Enough!" the King roared.

The guard flinched.

Looking at the guard, the King spike angrily.

Pointing, he said;

"You are still under training and haven't even passed the first level of training and you're here, insulting my own daughter...?!" The King roared.

"She can handle the kitchen far better than you can handle a kitchen knife to slice tomatoes...!" He said.

"Bring right here now the knife to cut a cucumber and you start falling off and need mighty help...but it's not gonna be given to you!" The King said.

"Let's just put her here right now to beat you up, and I wouldn't be surprised, if she does...!" The King roared.

"Such a big pile of rubbish...!" The King said as he turned to climb the throne.

Sitting down, the King beckoned on Samuel.

"Go help her Sam and take Andrew to his room...!" He said as he hissed at the body guard.

Getting on one (1) knee, the guard quickly apologized.

"I'm sorry My King... "

"Sorry for yourself...!" The King hissed as he snapped at the guard.

"You had better apologise to her...!" The said as he pointed at Mariam.

The guard became frightened.

'Were they not just joking right now...?' He thought.

He thought that he could add some more spice to the joke and make it more fun. Now the King had taken it seriously.

He had apologized, but the King still refused to take it into consideration.

Sighing, he stood up. Looking in the direction of Samuel and Mariam, the guard looked at them both, especially at Mariam.

Then slowly, reluctantly, and slightly insincere, the guard apologized.

Mariam only nodded her head slightly with a sort of frown on her face.

Bowing in the direction of the King and Queen, she turned and left.

'Who are these people anyway...?!' The guard thought deeply.

Ever since he began to serve at the Palace, which had been his desire, he n ver seized to notice how the King seemed to love these people alongside his own Son.

Before the Queen conceived and brought forth children twice after Andrew, Samuel and Mariam had been in the Castle long before he could think of bringing this guy into the picture of becoming a guard.

He noticed that they both gained favour from the King; extraordinary ones at that.

Not only did that happen, but they were also diligent in their work and still are.

But there was something he couldn't quite understand and put his finger on...

They had their own servants.

Whenever they spoke, they spoke with authority.

They have this sense, this aura, emitting form both of them whenever they pass by....

Like as if they are of royal blood or something or of royalty.

And they speak with power....

Sometimes, whenever they do do their things with a these things, he was tempted to speak up against them. But the last time he had done that, it wasn't funny.

It was even the Prince; Andrew that had reported the incident to his father; The King and that sai turned out to be terrible for him, even the day after that one, and the day after that...

In fact,

The whole week had been terrible for him, because he had dared speak against a bunch of commoners that were not even suited to be in the kitchen, talk more of being in the council...

He would get his revenge.

His hand gripped tightly onto the spear the holding.

The King had been watching his reaction, that when the guard turned to look at the King, he met his eyes.

"What are you thinking about, Theophilus..." The King asked.
