"It's fine if you think that way. Fairies aren't human and humans aren't fairy. Similarly, a cat can't give birth to a dog. The world is like that. We live differently and think differently. Fairies grow up independently while humans are social creatures who are dependent on each other to survive. Humans are weak but when they band together, their combined strength can awe the world. Have you ever thought about it, Cestine? That humans even though they are weak, they were able to survive until now." Ellendise got up from bed.
Her legs were wobbly but she forced her way to the balcony and opened the door, the bright light of the morning sun greeted her.
"It's because the weak are strong in their own way. Using their wit and the resources around them, they were able to build a place for themselves, create cities and countries, and even establish empires that could ravage the lands." Ellendise glanced at Cestine, her red eyes glowing as she spoke with a smile that did not reach her eyes.
"Cestine, remember, I am also a weak human. Someday, I might even make my own country." Wind blew gently, making the silver hair of the girl sway.
"Hehe..." Cestine flew in front of her, her beady blue eyes sparkled.
"Ellen, you really are interesting."
'Cestine was not wrong when Cestine chose you' Cestine thought as she watched the human before her.
Ellendise's expression reverted back to her usual mask and she smiled.
"I also think that Cestine is interesting."
One girl and one fairy stared at each other, each with a different thought in their mind.
The moment was disrupted when a knock came from the door. Ellendise saw the faces of her biological parents rushing into the room.
"Ellen!" The Countess covered her mouth as tears spilled from the woman's eyes.
Countess Debora hurriedly embraced Ellendise who patted her mother's back and did an attempt to comfort the woman.
"I'm sorry, mother. I made you worry."
"My darling daughter..." The Countess hugged her tighter. " Your mother has worried over you for weeks! I am so glad that you're awake!"
The Count stepped forward. He also looked quite shaken. "Ellen, you finally woke up." He embraced her along with her mother but he held his tears back. As a man, he could not afford to show weakness but deep inside, his heart ached for his daughter who had been on a coma and had just recently woken up.
Cestine blankly stared at this scene.
'Ellen, Cestine does not understand but somehow, Cestine feels jealous seeing this. Ugh!' Cestine glared at the two human adults before flying away and leaving the room. Only Ellendise saw this but she did not call out to the fairy.
Ellendise smiled.
"Mother, Father, I have worried you but please, don't cry for my sake. The important thing is that I'm awake now."
"Oh Ellen..." Countess Debora bit her lip when she heard this.
"Come, go back to bed while we call for the doctors to check on you again. I will call the maids to prepare food."
Ellendise obediently followed and sat back on the bed. In her heart, there was guilt and sorrow for the love she was receiving from these two people that had raised her. She felt guilt since Ellendise was never planning on showing her true side to them.
The matter of her reincarnation would be a secret that only she would know.
'I am not your daughter but because I have occupied her body upon birth, I will take care of you and love you in her place.' Ellendise said in her mind.
This was of course, impossible. She could no truly love them since she was determined to keep her secret until her death. This meant that she would continue to lie and deceive them. Even now, Ellendise was planning on lying about the cause of her severe mana drain and why she was out of the mansion.
She would admit that she had been rather careless. She truly underestimated her current body and its capability which led to her coma. If it weren't for Cestine and for Braham, she would still be asleep and stuck in bed.
