He squirmed from Ulric's embrace and got out of bed. Jesse went to the bathroom, did his business, and returned to their room. Jesse had just started his one hour of stretching when Ulric woke up.

"Good morning, babe," Ulric said, kneeling down and tenderly kissing Jesse on the lips.

"Good morning," Jesse said, smiling.

"Have you been up long?" Ulric asked.

"No," Jesse said, shaking his head. "I woke up ten minutes ago," he said.

Jesse grabbed clean clothes and a towel and headed into the bathroom. "Are you going to do your workout?" Ulric stuck his head inside and asked.

"I can't," Jesse said. "I see the doctor today," he said, filling the tub with warm water.

"Do you need me to stay?" Ulric asked.

"Go do your workout," Jesse said. "I'll be fine," he said. Ulric smiled and closed the door behind him.

Jesse's muscles were tight, so he sank down into the water, closed his eyes, and relaxed his body and mind. Jesse stepped out of the tub when the water got cold thirty minutes later. He dried off and entered the bedroom. He dressed in a pink hoodie, navy blue sweatpants, and sneakers. He grabbed a brush and started brushing his hair. Jesse turned away from the mirror when he heard a knock on the door.

"I'm coming!" he said, yelling from the bathroom.

Jesse stepped up to the door and looked out of the peephole. On the other side was Dr. Ramos.

"Hello, doctor," Jesse said as he opened the door.

"I heard that you had a scare," the doctor said. "Are you alright?" she asked.

"Yeah, my power was bringing me down," Jesse said. "I'm doing better now," he said.

"That's good to hear," Dr. Ramos said. "If you need anyone to talk to, I'm here to help."

"Oh, okay, thanks," Jesse said.

Dr. Ramos continued to do her check-up but stopped when she noticed the mark on Jesse's neck. "I see that Ulric marked you," she said.

"Yeah, we bonded," Jesse said, blushing hard.

"Have you completed your bonding process?" the doctor asked.

"What else is there to do?" Jesse asked, perplexed.

"Doing the deed, son," she answered. Jesse's face turned as red as a ripe tomato.

"No, but I'm not ready for that," he said, shaking his head.

Jesse glanced up and smiled when their door opened and Ulric walked in.

"How was your workout?" Jesse asked.

"Lonely with you not at my side," Ulric said, stepping up and kissing him on his cheek. "Hello doctor," he said.

"Hello, Ulric," she said.

"Can I go back to class?" Jesse asked when the doctor gathered up her equipment.

"You can," she said.

Ulric sat down on the bed next to Jesse when the doctor left their room.

"Your face is red," Ulric stated. "Did something happen?" he asked.

"Well, she asked if we had completed our bonding," Jesse said.

"I see," Ulric said. "What did you say?" he asked.

"I'm not ready for the sex part," Jesse admitted. Jesse sat there and waited for a response. Biting his lower lip, Jesse asked, "Are you angry?"

Ulric pulled Jesse onto his lap and said, "I would never be mad at you," smiling at him. "I'm not going to force you into something that you're not ready for," he said, kissing Jesse on the forehead. Jesse felt a lot better after he heard that.

"Thanks," Jesse said. Jesse laid on his side and read his library book while Ulric washed up. Jesse felt his eyelids becoming heavy, so he closed the book and then his eyes. Jesse was snoring softly when Ulric entered the room.

Ulric dressed in black boxers and got into bed beside Jesse. Ulric scooted closer and wrapped his arms around Jesse's waist. Ulric awoke around midnight to the sound of Jesse coughing uncontrollably. He got up from the bed and went into the bathroom.

"Here, drink this," Ulric said, reentering with a glass of water. Jesse groaned and rolled onto his side. The glass slipped from his hands and crashed onto the floor.

"It hurts," Jesse whined.

"Where does it hurt?" Ulric asked.

"Everywhere," Jesse said. "My body feels like it's being beaten and burned," he said, tears streaming down his cheeks.

Ulric pulled down the covers, and what he found shocked him. Bruises and burn marks appear one by one, seemingly from nowhere.

"Babe, are you doing this?" Ulric asked.

"Why would I?" Jesse said, shocked by the question. "I promised that I wouldn't hurt myself," he said. "Ow," Jesse said, cringing as another pain hit him.

Fresh bruises appeared on Jesse's windpipe. He coughed up blood this time. Ulric became very worried. Whoever was causing this couldn't be seen. Ulric sent an urgent message to Mac and Dr. Ramos. Ulric sat beside Jesse's hospital bed twenty minutes later. All kinds of machines were hooked up to Jesse's body. Jesse's throat was bandaged up.

Mac and the doctor were perplexed by what was going on.

"What is happening to him?" Ulric asked.

"I'm not sure," Dr. Ramos said. "This looks like a supernatural attack," she said.

"From who?" "Or what?" Ulric asked. Hearing this, anger built up in Ulric's body. "Who the fuck is doing this to my boyfriend?" he grumbled under his breath. Then one person came to mind. "Mac, does Chad have any abilities like what we've seen?" Ulric asked.

Mac glanced at Ulric with a puzzled look. "Yes, but I haven't seen him use it but once," he said. "Don't you remember what happened when you were younger?" Mac asked.

"No," Ulric said.

"You had met and befriended a homeless boy," Mac explained. "Chad got jealous and lost control," he said. "You and the boy were hurt."

"Fuck," Ulric said, swearing under his breath. "I want him stopped," Ulric demanded.

"He can only go home," Mac said. "I'll contact his older brother, Thomas," he said.

"He better be dealt with, because if I find him, I'm killing him," Ulric said.
