Cabin In The Woods

I drove my car as far as I can. Away from the city and away from them. I don't even know where I'm going.

After hours of driving, I finally pulled over on the side of the road. There weren't many houses around. Tall trees are present on both sides of the road. I cried my heart out. Scream and shout, cursing them over and over again.

"How am I going to get through this? 5 years of relationships aren't easy to move on. As for friendship? I've known her since we're little. How could you D?" I growled and continue weeping.

My phone has been ringing non-stop since I left the cafe. There are some missed calls and texts from Lucas, Daisy, and Aunt Jenny. I turned my phone off. I need to calm my mind before I respond to any of it.

I need someone but I can't go to my mom's looking like this. I'm a mess and I'm not ready to talk about this to her.

As for now, I'm all alone. Alone in the darkness. I can't see any source of light from where I am. Only the moon shines through the windshield.

My eyes are puffy and red from hours of crying. I'm exhausted. Soon my eyelids felt heavy. My gaze becomes blurry and I fell asleep inside my car on the side of the road.

INT. Day - Somewhere

My head is spinning. I tried to open my eyes slowly. Lights flash my eyesight. I squinted my eyes a few times before it is completely open. I regained my visions back.

It's already bright, I assumed that it's morning already. I turned on my phone and countless notifications came in. I checked the time and it's already half-past eleven.

I looked at my surroundings and realized I'm still in my car, somewhere I don't know. I guess a heartbreak can lead you anywhere.

I stepped out of my car and stretch my body. I could hear a few of my bones snapped. It's been aching.

I grabbed my phone and I browsed my messages. A few of them are missed calls from my mom. I felt bad for not telling her as soon enough.

I dialed her number and she picked up the phone right away.

"Honey, are you okay? Where are you?" she asked? I could hear the worry in her voice.

"Hi, mom. I'm..., " there's a pause in my voice. I sigh and started to sobs. "I'm not okay. I broke up with Lucas."

I knew she felt my pain from the moment I started to speak. "Come home dear, we'll talk about it when you're ready. I'll cook your favorite food tonight, " she said, trying to comfort me with her words.

I wipe my tears. "No, I can't come home just yet, because this will involve Daisy's parents. Let's meet up at our cabin and mom, please don't tell anyone about my whereabouts," I replied.

"I won't, honey. Don't worry. See you at the cabin."

I don't want anyone else to barge in our at our house and try to meddle with my problems right now so the cabin is the perfect place for my hideout.

I drove back towards the city and went straight to my apartment. I showered and wore a comfy hoodie and sweatpants. I packed some of my clothes in my luggage along with other necessities. I grabbed my laptop and charger, settling them inside the luggage.

After I'm done packing, I turned all the lights and sockets off.

I dragged my luggage out and locked the door. I went to the elevator and press the 'B' button. It went straight to the basement where my car was parked.

I drove off, exiting the building.

I stopped by the grocery store to buy some groceries for us while we stay at the cabin. I spent some time in the store before I finally go and pay for the things I picked.

I called my mom about her whereabouts. She already arrived at the cabin. I guess that's my cue to start moving.

I put all the groceries in the trunk of my car. I got in and drove to the cabin. Our cabin is 20 minutes drive from our home. It is located near Westdale's Lake, in the famous camping site of Westdale Wilderness Park.

My dad bought the cabin after he got married to mom. It was a wedding gift for her.

We used to spend our holidays there together with my dad before he passed away. Even after he's gone, mom still brought me there every summer with Aunt Jenny.

No one else knew this place exists besides me, mom, Aunt Jenny, and Daisy. I just hope this will be the last place Daisy will look for me.

INT. Cabin

I arrived at the cabin around half-past two. Mom's already cooking in the kitchen. Surprisingly, Aunt Jenny's is parked outside the cabin. Well, it makes sense though, mom can't drive. So, she'd call Aunt Jenny for a ride.

"Smells good. What are you cooking mom?" I asked.

It's startled them. They both turned the head around together to look at me.

"Honey, you're here. When did you arrive?" my mom said, walking towards me and giving me the warmest hug.

"Just a moment ago, " I replied, putting my hand on my mom's shoulders. "You guys are busy gossiping, that's why nothing else matters around you guys."

"Hey, that's not true, " Aunt Jenny said, hugging me.

"You're steps are just too quiet for us to have listened."

We all laughed. For a moment, I felt calm and happy. I forgot about the breakup.

"We're having beef for dinner, " Aunt Jenny said.

"Sounds yummy, " I exclaimed. "I go pick up the stuff I brought from my car, " I said, heading out to my car.

"Will she be okay Jenn?" my mom asked Aunt Jenny.

"She will be. Don't you worry Meg, she's stronger than you think, " she said.

I placed all the groceries on the kitchen island. "I'm tired. I'll be in my room. Call me when dinner's ready, " I said, dragging my luggage towards the small room at the nook of the cabin.

"Okay honey. You go and take a rest first. We'll handle everything here, " mom said, smiling at me.

I entered the room and collapse on the bed. I fell asleep right after.
